We have the global authority to influence decision-makers, and the variety of partners at grassroots level to turn the most innovative ideas into reality. That makes us unique among world organizations, and unique among those working with the young.

We believe that nurturing and caring for children are the cornerstones of human progress. UNICEF was created with this purpose in mind – to work with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path. We believe that we can, together, advance the cause of humanity.

We advocate for measures to give children the best start in life, because proper care at the youngest age forms the strongest foundation for a person’s future.

We promote girls’ education – ensuring that they complete primary education as a minimum – because it benefits all children, both girls and boys. Girls who are educated grow up to become better thinkers, better citizens, and better parents to their own children.

We act so that all children are immunized against common childhood diseases, and are well nourished, because it is wrong for a child to suffer or die from a preventable illness.

We work to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS among young people because it is right to keep them from harm and enable them to protect others. We help children and families affected by HIV/AIDS to live their lives with dignity.

We involve everyone in creating protective environments for children. We are present to relieve suffering during emergencies, and wherever children are threatened, because no child should be exposed to violence, abuse or exploitation.

UNICEF upholds the Convention on the Rights of the Child. We work to assure equality for those who are discriminated against, girls and women in particular. We work for the Millennium Development Goals and for the progress promised in the United Nations Charter. We strive for peace and security. We work to hold everyone accountable to the promises made for children.

We are part of the Global Movement for Children – a broad coalition dedicated to improving the life of every child. Through this movement, and events such as the United Nations Special Session on Children, we encourage young people to speak out and participate in the decisions that affect their lives.

We work in 190 countries through country programmes and National Committees. We are UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund.

EFC Team donated $100.00 to this charity in June.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Y2JSBui4lpc/SGo-kTFKyNI/AAAAAAAABTM/cUAGskEYBSQ/s400/Unicef.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5218051911580305618" />
In June, EFC individual members donated
$40 to World Vision
http://www.worldvision.org

$12 to Animal Place
http://www.animalplace.org

Saving children.

St. Jude is unlike any other pediatric treatment and research facility anywhere. Discoveries made here have completely changed how the world treats children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases.

We are where some of today's most gifted researchers are able to do more science, more quickly. Where doctors across the world send their toughest cases and most vulnerable patients. Where no one pays for treatment beyond what is covered by insurance, and those without insurance are never asked to pay. Their goal is that all people will experience life in all its fullness and they seek to demonstrate God's love through their work.

ReBook
http://www.rebookinc.org

ReBooK (Recycling Books for Kids) is a non-profit organization which collects and distributes used children's books to underserved kids in the United States.

ReBooK promotes youth literacy and social and emotional development by recycling gently-used children's books for distribution to literature-poor areas of the United States. Books are collected primarily from book drives hosted at schools. These donated books are then sorted and distributed to various underserved children who need literature enrichment.

This project is unique because through a community effort a variety of quality books are provided in good condition to underserved children for less than twelve cents per book.

Our organization is an advocate for the children who suffer from neuroblastoma and is dedicated to serving as a support center for their families. The primary focus of the organization is to raise money to assist local research in neuroblastoma cancer, and to raise national awareness to focus additional research and funding until a cure can be found.

Michael James Sexton's courageous effort in his fight against neuroblastoma cancer ended in September 1993 at the age of three. During his nine months of intense treatment, he faced each day with determination, purpose and his smile! "We were shocked by the inability of the medical profession to combat the disease and that no major organization was funding significant research to promote a front line treatment or cure for neuroblastoma cancer."

"Our family and friends decided to do something meaningful in Michael's memory and in memory of those children who lost their battle with neuroblastoma." Founded in 1994, the Neuroblastoma Children's Cancer Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting research and providing support to the children (and their families) diagnosed with neuroblastoma.

"Our organization is dedicated to raising funds for Neuroblastoma research, to change the outcome for all children diagnosed with this disease."

EFC members donated $20.00 to this charity in December.
