Hand Painted Vintage Purse

2010-07-01T23:20:00.000-07:00

I am in deep lust with this purse. It has all the elements for awesomeness: vintage.....owl....top hat....

This bag is hand painted with a rather distinguished looking owl....dapper, even....in his purple top hat. He sits upon delicately painted branches, on a background of black. To his left sits a cute little bow, beautiful white stripes, and some vintage gold-nesses.

LOVE. Someone, please buy this so I don't have to order it myself.

Then... mail it to me.

Zombie Foot Necklace

2010-06-28T22:41:00.000-07:00

This one needs no words....following the series of baby foot...zombie mobile...ZOMBIE FOOT! A happy compromise...and it is even a baby zombie foot. Ok... it needed a FEW words.

Braaains Zombie Mobile

2010-06-27T22:29:00.001-07:00

What is the perfect addition to any baby's nursery? A soothing, peaceful mobile. And by soothing and peaceful...I mean zombies looming over your baby's BRAAAIIINNNSS...tasty brains.

This mobile is pretty awesome. Silhouettes of zombies of varying races, creeds, and severed body parts gently drift from the ceiling. This is the ultimate housewarming gift for your friend who can never seem to quench that hankering for brains.

Hooktastic Lone Leg

2010-06-26T22:07:00.000-07:00

Dolls have always creeped me out... yet somehow I am in lust with this piece. Dolls...with their creepy staring eyes and their moveable PArts...always staring at me from across the room.

Yet, something about this weird little leg is fantastic. I laughed out loud when I saw it, and may have peed myself a little when I saw the pictures of it in use. Need a place to hang your keys?? Hang them from an old baby leg! Looking for a new jewelry hanger? Baby leg. Baby leg is the answer.

So what else can be mounted and used as a hook? I haven't checked out the other items in this seller's shop yet...partially because I was too excited about this find...and partially because I'm a little scared that the "hooktastic lone leg" is just the start of a series of doll part items... and that would just frankly give me nightmares.

Regardless, it is pretty sicktastic.

My Saturday project...

2010-06-26T14:32:00.000-07:00

My house...is currently a feather explosion. It looks as if a flock of birds swooped in...decided it was streaking weather...and left their fluff as a new form of carpet on my floor...table...chairs...and even on my cats. I sell feather accessories on Etsy, and it has relaly taken over my tiny 1 bedroom condo. My business is growing faster than my home will allow. The result, everything that I touch is immediately covered in feathers. My fiance, my cats, and my shameless self are all eternally covered in feathers.

I've been really loving making feather wedding bouquets recently. I received my second custom order a few weeks ago, and once all of my supplies arrived I couldn't wait to get started. I finished it this afternoon. The customer wanted ivory, black, and white feathers. We found these great black and rhinestone buttons to mix amongst the feathers. The handle is a black satin, with a vintage black and rhinestone brooch to add some flair. I can't wait to get it shipped out to her!

Vintage Draped Cocktail Dress

2010-06-24T23:27:00.000-07:00

GUUUH.....LOVE this little guy. A dress can't be a guy, though...this little lady, then. She is a beautiful black vintage dress comprised of architecturally draped black splendor.

If I wasn't planning a wedding....saving for a new house....and working with a teacher's salary, I would snag this.

Happy Sloth and Baby Sloth Necklaces

2010-06-23T13:24:00.000-07:00

I have a ridiculous, unexplainable, unhealthy obsession with sloths. I identify with them... their two and three toed glory....lazing all day with a giant smile on their face. My shop name, The Surreptitious Sloth, pays homage to their splendor. I have a variety of sloth items now taking over my house...from my sloth apron to a sloth stained glass lamp. But how can you not love them??

Last Christmas I was given one of these amazing sloth necklaces, made by Mary Mary Handmade on Etsy; I was in love. Ever since, I have been looking longingly at her shop at all of the other amazingly adorable items. Literally every item in this shop has all of the cuteness of a baby, a bot of kittens, and ET Drew Barrymore combined.

I have to say, I am coveting the baby sloth necklace...I mean, could it be any cuter? Look at his face. Look at it. Are you looking? If I didn't want to wear this little guy, I would just eat him...he looks that delicious. Can sloths be delicious? Ok.. My ability to speak rationally has been overcome with giddiness for this adorable piece...

Love Bird Cake Toppers

2010-06-22T20:02:00.000-07:00

My wedding is in August...which means that I am trying to avoid at all costs getting sucked into the vortex that is wedding spending. It is NUTS....it seems as though when I think that everything is close to being done, I have forgotten some major multi hundred dollar expense. Flowers? Whoops....how did I just not think about that? Who needs em anyway...

So fully ignoring the flowers, seating arrangement, and all the other typical wedding ridiculousness....I set my sights on finding the one detail that is obviously the most important element, obviously... THE CAKE TOPPER!! We all know, it's all about the cake anyway.

I had been eyeing these adorable vintage-style lovebirds for months, and finally snatched them up. They are ridiculously cute...the bride has eyelashes, a veil, a pearl necklace, and red lipstick. The groom is obviously metro, with his top hat and bow tie.

I am so excited for them to come!! I will make sweet love to them... I mean.... put them on my cake?
