Windows 10 users: performance issues?

Windows 10 Defender significantly slows down Eclipse, reason being Windows 10 Defender scanning the JAR files. The problem has been reported to Microsoft here. Until then, a workaround to this problem is to add Eclipse root directory to Windows 10 Defender's exclusion list, detailed steps are shared here. This was fixed in version 1.31, see details here.

When LDT files with errors were converted to IES, the conversion would fail silently, resulting in an empty file. This has been fixed and all errors during batch conversion will be shown at the end of a conversion. Files without errors will all be processed. Note that these errors can be caught by using the validators!

EulumdatTools is updated to Use Eclipse 2019-06

EulumdatTools is using the Eclipse application framework and that updates to a new version every quarter. This means 32 bit versions for Windows and Linux are discontinued, but old versions will stay available. We follow the recent upgrade to version 2019-06 to take advantage of all speed and stability upgrades.

New features in this version

You can modify the editor syntax colors to suit your taste
You can set the editor to the fashionable Dark Theme.
Several bugs were removed in the validators that occured under non-standard conditions.
The Sandbox feature is installed as standard, please try these new features and provide feedback

New version checks for UTF-8 BOM headers

When editing IES files with modern text editors, sometimes an UTF-8 BOM header is places before the actual text. This will mess up reading the file in most photometric tols and prevent conversion in EulumdatTools.

Due to a build error you cannot update. Please install the whole application again from links below. Apologies!

Main improvements are for improved conversion of EULUMDAT to IES for later use in AGI32 Simulation tool. When nadir or zenith is not identical in all planes, the error result is unable to load file: nadir values not equal. When processing files as EULUMDAT or LDT you can check for many common errors and get help in correcting these.

Runtime updated to Eclipse 4.7 Ogygen

The underlying workbench has been updated to the latest version of Eclipse, 4.7 or Oxygen. This means improvements in speed and stability and other. More information an be found here

Improvements in EulumdatTools 0.14.7 itself

Improved the check for different values at gamma 0 (nadir). Comparison is now to the average value for all C-planes
Added check for different values at gamma 180 (zenith). Also comparing to average value.

Added QuickFixes for these two checks, so you can replace all different nadir and zenith values with the average for multiple files.

The Sandbox feature is included by default.

Extended the default expiry date to 2018, so no sudden stops this year ;-)

What is Sandbox Feature?

To allow experimentation with various validators for EULUMDAT files the standard validator was made extensible. It is now easy to create custom validators in a separate plugin. Instructions for installing this feature are below.

Improved IES-EULUMDAT conversion in EulumdatTools 0.13.4.v20150423

A new version of EulumdatTools 0.13.4.v20150423 was published on April 23 at http://www.fold1.com/eulumdattools/.

IES to EULUMDAT and EULUMDAT to IES conversion was improved:

There is an option added to swap the length and width of the IES vs the EULUMDAT file. This is selected be default and makes the converted files more in line with the respective standards.
There is an option added to rotate the Light Distribution Curve by 90° to allow for differences in US and European roadway lighting standards. When converting from IES to LDT there is a 90° clockwise rotation, when going from LDT to IES there is a 90° counter-clockwise rotation. Note that after rotation the resulting file has no define symmetry. Missing symmetry can be detected and corrected with the experimental Sandbox feature.
Before checking or converting a number of pre-flight checks were added to reduce the number of Error messages presented to the user. Such errors are now shown as file errors in the Problems view.
Lastly a nasty bug was fixed that disabled the whole Eulumdat validator, when the Sandbox was not present or no Sandbox validators were selected. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.
