Christmas is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ and a widely observed cultural holiday, celebrated generally on December 25 by millions of people around the world. Christmas is a civil holiday in many of the world's nations, is celebrated by an increasing number of non-Christians, and is an integral part of the Christmas and holiday season.

Popular modern customs of the holiday include gift giving, Christmas music and caroling, an exchange of Christmas cards, church celebrations, a special meal, and the display of various Christmas decorations, including Christmas trees, Christmas lights, nativity scenes, garlands, wreaths, mistletoe, and holly. In addition, several closely related and often interchangeable figures, known as Santa Claus, Father Christmas, Saint Nicholas, and Christkind, are associated with bringing gifts to children during the Christmas season and have their own body of traditions and lore.Because gift-giving and many other aspects of the Christmas festival involve heightened economic activity among both Christians and non-Christians, the holiday has become a significant event and a key sales period for retailers and businesses.

Almost in every school, around the world, Christmas is celebrated, by putting the Christmas Tree in the center of a hall, lighting the tree, an adult dressed up Santa Claus and bringing up goodies for Kids.

Here, are some of the pictures of Christmas celebrated in our School with all students geared up in red dresses for the celebration.

Rani and Vani

2014-01-31T02:26:00.000+05:30

Once upon a time, there lived two sisters named Rani and Vani. Both the sisters were exactly alike, not only in their appearance, but also in their nature and temperament. Rani and Vani lived and worked together. They enjoyed going for a walk together. They never quarreled with each other. The two lovely daughters were adored by their parents.

One day, when the two sisters were going to the market, they saw a dwarf on the road. He had a long white beard and he wore a long red cap on his head. A dog was pulling the dwarf's beard. The dwarf tried his best to pull his beard out from the dog's mouth, but he could not do so. The dog did not let go of the beard. The dwarf appeared to be utterly helpless.

Rani and Vani saw the plight of the dwarf. They felt sorry for him, and so they cut is long beard with a pair of scissors. The beard became short now. Instead of thanking the two sisters, the dwarf said angrily, "Hey, you girls! Who asked you to act smart? look, what you have done to me! You have spoiled my looks."

Rani and Vani did not say anything, but left the scene quietly.

One day, as the two sisters were returning home from a nearby village, they met the same dwarf once again. The dwarf was hanging by his long beard which was tied to the branch of the trees. He was screaming with pain. He was in a great pain because his long beard was being pulled and it hurt him. He was desperately trying to free himself. there was nobody to help him.

Rani and Vani saw the plight of the dwarf. They ran to him, cut his long beard with a pair of scissors and freed him. Once again, instead of being thankful, the dwarf said angrily, " Hey, you girls! Who asked you to act smart? Look what you have done! You have spoiled my looks."

Rani and Vani did not say anything, but left the scene quietly.

One fine morning, the two sisters were going to a nearby town. They saw the same dwarf riding a bicycle. Suddenly, his long beard got entangled in the chain of bicycle. The bicycle stopped and the dwarf fell down screaming with pain.

Rani and Vani heard him screams and they rushed to help him. It was very difficult to pull out the beard from the bicycle chain. So the two sisters cut the long bears with a pair of scissors. As usual, the dwarf started shouting at them angrily, but they ignored his shouts.

Suddenly, there was a miracle. The dwarf turned into a beautiful fairy.

The fairy said to Rani and Vani, " Both of you have passed my tests. you will get married to the Princes and you will live happily ever." Saying this, the fairy gave each one a flower and said, " Take these flowers and go to the palace. Stand in front of the king and Queen and smell the flowers."

Rani and Vani went to the palace. When they were brought before the king and the Queen, they smelled the flowers. And lo! There was another miracle. As soon as the two sisters smelt the flowers, tow handsome Princes appeared before them.

The King and The Queen were very happy. They had no Children. Now, they not only had two handsome Princes, But also two beautiful daughters-in-law. The two sisters married the two Princes. There was jubilation all over the Kingdom. Parents of Rani and Vani came to bless them. All of them lived happily ever after.

Janmashtami

2013-08-28T08:13:00.001+05:30

Krishna Janmashtami or Janamashtami, is also known as Krishnashtami. It is celebrated in different regions of India by differnet names like Saatam Aatham, Gokulashtami, Ashtami Rohini, Srikrishna Jayanti, etc. It is an annual commemoration of the birth of the Hindu deity Krishna.

This festival is celebrated on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) of the month of Bhadrapada which every year falls in the month of August or September. God krishna was famous for his Ras Lilas. The term Ras means Aesthetic and Lila means play or dance, which roughly translates the meaning of Ras-Lila as " Dance of Divine Love". While the Rasa lila re-creates the flirtatious aspects of Krishna's youthful days, the Dahi Handi celebrate God's playful and mischievous side, where teams of young men form human towers to reach a high-hanging pot of butter and break it. This tradition, also known as uriadi, is a major event in Tamil Nadu on Gokulashtami.

Krishna was the 8th son of Devaki and Vasudeva. And was born to kill Mama Kans.

Mathura (in present day Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh) was the capital of the Yadavas, to which Krishna's parents Vasudeva and Devaki belonged. King Kansa, Devaki's brother, had ascended the throne by imprisoning his father, King Ugrasena. Afraid of a prophecy that predicted his death at the hands of Devaki's eighth son, Kansa had the couple locked into a prison cell. After Kansa killed the first six children, and Devaki's apparent miscarriage of the seventh (which was actually a secret transfer of the infant to Rohini as Balarama), Krishna was born.

After his birth Vishnu ordered Vasudeva to take Krishna to Gokul to Nanda and Yashoda where he can live safely, away from his evil Uncle Kansa. So Vasudeva took Krishna with him and crossed Yamuna to reach Gokul .There everyone was asleep,so he quietly kept him there and returned with Yashoda's daughter.Kansa, thinking her to be Devki's eight child, threw her on a stone. But she rose in air and transformed into Yogmaya(who is Vishnu's helper)and warned Kansa about his death. Then she disappeared.Krishna grew up in Gokul with his brother Balram. Then he returned to Mathura and killed Kansa with the help of his brother,Balram.

In many regions of India, Janamashtami is celebrated by fasting and staying up until midnight, the time when Krishna is believed to have been born. In some parts of India, it is celebrated as Dahi-Handi. The handi is a clay pot filled with buttermilk that is positioned at a convenient height prior to the event. The topmost person on the human pyramid tries to break the handi by hitting it with a blunt object. When the handi breaks, the buttermilk is spilled over the entire group, symbolizing their achievement through unity.

So, here are the few pictures of our kids of celebrating Janamashtami in Euro Kids- Ashiana Nagar.

The Lion and The Mouse

2013-08-27T02:12:00.002+05:30

Aesop's Fables

A mighty Lion was sleeping in his lair when he was awakened by a tiny Mouse running across his body. The lion grabbed the frightened creature with his huge paws and opened his mouth to swallow him. " Please, O King," cried the Mouse, " Spare m e this time and I shall never forget your kindness. Someday I may be able to repay you. " The Lion was so amused by this idea that he let the poor creature go.

Sometimes later the Lion was caught in a net laid by some clever hunters. Despite his great strength, the Lion could not break free. Soon the forest echoed with angry roars.

The Little Mouse heard the Lion and ran to see what was wrong. As soon as he was the Lion free. "There!" said the Mouse proudly, " You laughed at me when I promised to repay your kindness, but now you know that even a tiny Mouse can help a mighty Lion."

MORAL OF THE STORY -

The Milkmaid and Her Pail

2013-08-24T02:12:00.001+05:30

Aesop's Fables- 35

A milkmaid was walking down the road, balancing on her head a bucket full of fresh milk. And as she walked, she was busy daydreaming.

"Milk this rich, " she thought, " will surely give plenty of cream. I'll churn the cream into fresh white butter, and I'll take the butter to the market. After I sell it, I'll buy a dozen eggs, and soon i'll have a dozen chickens running around the yard. I'll sell the chickens for a good price, and with the money I'll buy myself a new dress - a green one with lace, to wear to the fair in the summer. And when the miller's son sees me in that dress, he'll beg to dance with me. But will I let him? Never! When he asks me, I'll tosss my head- like this!"

As the milkmaid toss her head in scorn, her wooden bucket fell to the ground and split in two. And so the milkmaid had nothing - no dress, no chickens, no eggs, no butter, not even the milk she had to start with.

MORAL OF THE STORY - Don't count your chickens before they're hatched, which means -

One should not count on something before it happens.
One should not expect all of your hopes to be fulfilled.

The Donkey and the Lapdog

2013-08-05T00:57:00.001+05:30

Aesop's Fables - 21

A Farmer had a little Dog that he keeps constantly by his side. The farmer also had a donkey, who lived in a warm stable and got plenty of fresh grain and sweet hay. But, the donkey was not satisfied with his lot.

" I slave all day, hauling wood or pulling the cart to market, " the donkey grumbled. "And then I' m shut i the stable, while that dog sleeps on the master's lap and eats from his plate!" Perhaps, he thought, if he behaved like the dog, his master would reward him with the same life of ease.

That very night, the donkey crept out of the stable and into the house where the farmer sat at supper. " First I' ll frisk about and chase my tail, just as the dog does, " thought the donkey. And he danced about the room, flinging up his hooves until the table toppled over and dishes went flying.

" Now I' ll sit on his lap!" said the donkey to himself, and he put his hooves up on the master's chair.

" Help! Save me from this mad beast!" bellowed the terrified farmer. His servants came running and, with shouts and blows, drove the donkey back to the stable.

" I suppose I' m a fine donkey, " the donkey lamented, " but I' ll never be a lapdog!"

Moral of the Story- What's right for one may be wrong for another. So, never try to copy another person in front of you.

Birthday Process theme for Playgroups

2013-05-01T09:33:00.001+05:30

Birthday is a special day for everyone. And when it's our child's birthday, we try to do every possible thing which they like, and is in our reach.

How do we celebrate birthday-

When the Kids are small, say when they are 1 yr old, we celebrate birthdays for them, but they do not understand the meaning of it at that age. But slowly, as they grew up, they understands it's a special day for them, but still they do not understand much of it, other than few specific stuffs, like playing with balloon, and cutting the cake.

So, here in EuroKids- Ashiana Nagar, for playgroups we are trying to make our kids understand how to celebrate a birthday. The whole month of April, we taught them, celebrated and enjoyed with them, the process of celebrating the birthdays.

Here, are some overlook of the whole process, which as a parent you can revise with your child at home.

Day 1 - We arranged the cake, randomly selected one child and cut the cake. We let the kids eat the cake, so they get to know what happens after the cake is cut in a birthday party.

Day 2 - We taught them, how to arrange a cake.

Day 3 - We told them, how to blow a balloon, and put them, and where to put them, for the decoration before the party begins.

Day 4 -The kids should also know, when they are going to a birthday party, they have to give a gift. So, on this day, we taught them how to do a gift wrap. They need to say thankyou when they are getting a gift. So, what we do, is give the kids a small box and teach them how to wrap.

Day 5 - On this day, we randomly select a child, and all other kids are suppose to give the gifts to that particular child. Gifts are mostly a colored chalk, which we give it to the gifts to let them practice. And the child who is receiving the gifts, learns to say every other child " thank you".

Day 6 - On this very day, we taught them how to make paper flowers.

and so on ....... continues for the whole month.

We know all child are special, so we give every child a chance to learn. We make every child SPECIAL.

The Hare and The Tortoise

2013-04-25T08:19:00.001+05:30

One of Aesop’s Fables

Once upon a time there was a hare who, boasting how he could run faster than anyone else, was forever teasing tortoise for its slowness. Then one day, the irate tortoise answered back: “Who do you think you are? There’s no denying you’re swift, but even you can be beaten!” The hare squealed with laughter.

“Beaten in a race? By whom? Not you, surely! I bet there’s nobody in the world that can win against me, I’m so speedy. Now, why don’t you try?”

Annoyed by such bragging, the tortoise accepted the challenge. A course was planned, and the next day at dawn they stood at the starting line. The hare yawned sleepily as the meek tortoise trudged slowly off. When the hare saw how painfully slow his rival was, he decided, half asleep on his feet, to have a quick nap. “Take your time!” he said. “I’ll have forty winks and catch up with you in a minute.”

The hare woke with a start from a fitful sleep and gazed round, looking for the tortoise. But the creature was only a short distance away, having barely covered a third of the course. Breathing a sigh of relief, the hare decided he might as well have breakfast too, and off he went to munch some cabbages he had noticed in a nearby field. But the heavy meal and the hot sun made his eyelids droop. With a careless glance at the tortoise, now halfway along the course, he decided to have another snooze before flashing past the winning post. And smiling at the thought of the look on the tortoise’s face when it saw the hare speed by, he fell fast asleep and was soon snoring happily. The sun started to sink, below the horizon, and the tortoise, who had been plodding towards the winning post since morning, was scarcely a yard from the finish. At that very point, the hare woke with a jolt. He could see the tortoise a speck in the distance and away he dashed. He leapt and bounded at a great rate, his tongue lolling, and gasping for breath. Just a little more and he’d be first at the finish. But the hare’s last leap was just too late, for the tortoise had beaten him to the winning post. Poor hare! Tired and in disgrace, he slumped down beside the tortoise who was silently smiling at him.

“Slowly does it every time!” he said.

Moral of the Story-

Try and try, till you succeed.
Never loose your courage.
Never underestimate yourself.

The City Mouse and The Country Mouse

2013-03-02T06:09:00.001+05:30

Once there were two mouse - A City Mouse and A Country Mouse.

A City Mouse once went on a visit to his cousin in the country. His cousin was rough and ready, but he loved him and welcomed him.

Beans and bacon, cheese and bread, were all he had to offer, but he offered them freely.

Instead of eating, the City Mouse rather turned up his long nose at this country food, and said: "I cannot understand, Cousin, how you can put up with such poor fare as this, but of course you cannot expect anything better in the country; come you with me and I will show you how to live. When you have been in town a week you will wonder how you could ever have stood the country life."

No sooner said than done: the two mice set off for the town and arrived at the City Mouse's residence late

at night. "You will want some refreshment after our long journey," said the polite Town Mouse, and took his friend into the grand dining room.

There they found the remains of a fine feast, and soon the two mice were eating up jellies and cakes and all that was nice.

Suddenly they heard growling and barking. "What is that?"said the Country Mouse.
"It is only the dogs of the house," answered the other.
"Only!" said the Country Mouse. "I do not like that music at my dinner."
Just at that moment the door flew open, in came two huge mastiffs, and the two mice had to scamper down and run off.

"Goodbye, Cousin," said the Country Mouse.

"What! going so soon?" said the City Mouse.
"Yes," he replied;

Moral of the Story - Better eat beans and bacon in peace than cakes and jellies in fear. Always be happy in what you have.

Happy Republic Day - 26th January

2013-01-26T03:18:00.001+05:30

Republic Day in India-

Republic Day in India is celebrated on 26th January of every year.

India gained its independence on 15 August 1947, after which the process of preparing a constitution was started. The Constitution was passed on 26 November 1949 in the Constituent Assembly. It was adopted on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, when the country became a republic in true sense. 26 January was selected, because it was this day in 1930 when the Declaration of Indian Independence was passed.

To mark this occasion, a grand parade is held near Rajpath in New Delhi, the capital of India, beginning from Raisina Hill near the Rashtrapati Bhavan (Presidential Palace), along the Rajpath, past India Gate and on to the historic Red Fort in the old quarter of the city.

The President of India, who is also the Commander in Chief of the Indian Armed Forces, relishes the salute. The Chief Guest of the parade is the Head of State or Head of Government of another nation. The parade also includes many traditional dance troupes, to symbolize the cultural heritage of India. It traditionally ends with a colorful flypast by Indian Air Force jets in a tiranga formation. Similar parades are held in the capitals of all the states of India, where the governors of respective states take the salute.

Tips for precautions from Cough and Cold

2013-01-15T08:25:00.001+05:30

Winter is not yet over. It has started becoming little warmer, but it is going to be like this till the month of March. This year weather is much cooler as compared to last year, as predicted by weather experts. The sudden change in weather, prone to cough and cold. We need to protect ourselves and our family.

We love our Kids, and it hurts when we see them coughing or in fever. Now, we would like to share some common home remedies for kids in family. Spend only 10 minutes everyday in taking care of your kids and say bye-bye to cough and cold.

Lets start with the infants (0-3 months), lets know what are the steps we should take to protect them in cold-

In night, when they r sleeping, apply 1 drop of mustard oil in their feet. Cover them. (Do it only in winters)
If possible, give them massage with oil (which suits their skin), before giving them bath. And if Oil massage is not possible, give them massage by moisturizer, after bath. (this is for babies older than 2 months)
Do not leave your child open or in wet towel, for more than 1-2 minutes.
Keep all the doors and windows closed and switch off all the fans in your room. Switch it on, when your baby is properly dressed up.
Keep your babies feet covered.
The sweating in babies palm and baby's warm head will tell you, he/she is feeling hot.
Keep them covered from head to toe while going out.
Through out the winter, Mother can eat 1 -2 cloves per day, to keep the cold away.

If baby already had a cold, few steps you an take to help them -

Mother can eat a spoonful of Ajwain ( Carom) seeds with a glass of water. It will send warmth of carom seeds to the baby through mother's milk. Secondly, it will reduce the gastric problem of baby, if he/she is having it.

Carom Seeds

Apply1 drop of oil in baby's feet.
Mother can eat 1handful of Almonds in morning and evening, it will help baby and mother both in keeping their body warm.
If it is possible for mother, eat cloves or I should say chew it, the warmth will go directly to the baby from her/his mother's milk.
Start taking care, as soon as cold starts, but do not forget to ask your doctor if he wants to recommend some medicine for child.

Now, lets come to the Toddlers. For some toddlers it's easy to take care of them, as they will eat whatever you will ask them to eat, to protect them from cold. But, the same is difficult for the other Toddlers. So, we can make their work easy (by doing some tricks), they will not realize that they are getting protected from cold and will be healthy for the whole winter.

If your toddler drink flavored milk, in the milk add 1/8 th tsp of Turmeric Powder. Mix it and give it to them, once in a day. ( do it only when winter is in peak)
Make Almonds Confectionery (Badam ka Halwa), and give it to them 3-4 tbsp once in a day ( can do this from fall to autumn). It will keep them away from cold as well as make their bones strong.
Massage your Toddler from Oil which you use regularly, once a day in whole body. ( can do it whole year)
Apply 2 drops of Mustard Oil in feet and massage in night after they go to bed. ( in peak winter)
Give 1 tsp of Honey everyday. (whole winter)

Honey

When your toddler wakes up in the morning, give a glass of lukewarm water to him/her. ( It will help him/her in their morning routines, as well as help in throat pain)

And if your Toddler already has Cold -

Mustard Oil

Apply 2 drops of Mustard Oil in feet and 1 drop of oil in chest and rub gently, before going to sleepin night. Cover them properly.
Almond Confectionery (Badam ka Halwa) 7-8 tbsp, 4 times a day.
If they love taste of Lemon, in a lukewarm water add 2 tsp of Lemon Juice, a pinch of Salt, mix and let them drink, 4 times a day.
Give 1 tbsp of Honey, 2 times a day.
When your toddler wakes up in the morning, give a glass of lukewarm water to him/her. ( It will help him/her in their morning routines, as well as help in throat pain)
If the Cold has started from allergy, immediately give them medicine prescribed by Doc or visit a Doc.
If he/she loves the taste of Ginger, then you can also try giving a ginger Juice. You need to Crush small piece of Ginger, extract the Juice, heat it up, till it comes to the boiling point, mix 1tbsp of Honey and give it to them to drink at room temperature.

Ginger Juice

1/2 cup of milk, mixed with a pinch of Turmeric powder, Ghee (unsalted butter) and 1tsp of Sugar.
If possible, give 1/2 tsp of Ajwain (Carom seeds) with water to your Child, and if not possible, add Carom Seeds in flour and make dough out of that flour and make Roti/ Parantha or tortilla for your child. You can also add 1 tsp of Carom Seeds in your curry or stew while frying. They won't even get to know that they are eating something which will keep their body warm.

Lets take care of the Kids and protect them from cough and cold.

Birds and Insects

Each of Us, must have thought (which we might not have discussed with anyone), about doing something different this year, which we haven't done earlier. Some of the parents might have even thought of doing something special for their kids.

Lets follow it, and make our home and School, a better place to live, study, play and enjoy. Lets trained the kids in a way, that they become much better and organized kids this year.

2013-01-01T06:18:00.000+05:30

Grand Parents- Our Parents own Parent is a Grand Parents, whether it is a mother's or father's. Some of us are very fortunate to have an opportunity to live with grandparents and know them. Grand Parents are one of those people other than our parents, who love us without any self desire. Sometimes Grandparents have a direct role and responsibility of raising and nurturing their grand child.

In EuroKids, We value our grandparents and grandparents of all children of our school. So, we celebrated "GRAND PARENTS MEET" in our School, to recognize their efforts. We have invited all Grand Parents to come and spend their precious time with us.

Our effort should be to, encourage our kids, to respect their Grandparents and to value them. Please check the pictures of our Grand Parents meet in school organized by EuroKids- Ashiana Nagar.
