nuovo olio - new olive oil!!!

After spending a gorgeous day yesterday in the "oliveto" (olive grove) with our farmer Raul, tonight we were joining him at the "frantoio" (olive mill) to see our 2011 L'arte dell'Olivo Nuovo Extra Virgin Olive Oil being made!

Road trip! One of our favorite artists, Jack Johnson, was playing a concert in Rome and we were going down for the evening! Being that it also happened to be our Casa bel Posto rental turnover day we had to make sure everything was ready for our late arriving guests who would be coming while we were gone. We finally hit the road at 4 p.m. and made our way down to Rome.

Better late than never, we finally were getting around to our second bottling of olive oil for l'arte dell'olivo! We gathered everyone who volunteered (all 3 of them) and headed over to the frantoio (olive mill) as soon as we had the call that they were ready to bottle.

It isn't often we get a chance to fully enjoy our own property. It seems like the summer months are filled with a lot of maintenance for the rental and this year we've had so many other things going on with the olive oil business it feels like we have just been rushing from one task to another.

Our friends Melissa and Thane had arrived yesterday for a couple day visit and seeing that our rental guests were gone for the day, we had the WHOLE place to ourselves. What to do on a beautiful hot summer day?!
