There are quite a few ideas as to the future of automotive power sources, some claim its electric and other say Hydrogen. Most of these ideas are either talk or still on the drawing board. One company Better Place is really making moves in getting electric cars into the mainstream. To learn more about the company’s business model read this article at Wired.

Electric vehicles have always had the stigma of limited range unless you have some sort of backup power source such as a small gasoline engine like the Chevrolet Volt. Better Place believes an all electric vehicle is better for the environment and cheaper for the consumer. The video posted above shows how a battery can be swapped out at a Better Place battery station if you don’t have time to charge your vehicle.

One of the few financial publications I haven’t subscribed to is the Wall Street Journal, which at $140 is my Monocle money. Today however the WSJ allows iPhone users the same privileges that Blackberry users had for months; which is a dedicated application for reading all of the WSJ site for free.
