On Tuesday, JRC Petten hosted our Science and Mathematics teachers. Our teachers visited JRC’s Micro-Characterization, Battery Testing, Smart Grid Interoperability and Electrolyzer and Fuel Cell Testing laboratories. Thank you to all involved at JRC, especially to Arata Nakajo, Gabriel Pardo Redondo, Angel Tarramera Gisbert, Alberto Pilenga and Darina Blagoeva, for showing the labs. Also, a huge thank you to Andreas Pfrang for not only showing the labs and hosting the tour, but also for organising it and making this trip happen. ESB and JRC Petten have been collaborating e.g. on trainee programmes and the Petten Science Competition and this will continue…let’s see where our common path takes us…

We are pleased to announce that our Erasmus+ KA210 project called Sustain Our Future Together- SOFT, which we submitted to the Dutch National Agency, has been awarded a grant. Our project will be carried out under the coordination of the European School of Bergen, together with our partners from Slovenia, Bulgaria and Turkey.

Our project proposal has the following objectives:

*Raising awareness of teachers/students by increasing their knowledge and awareness on environmental sustainability,

*Increasing the digital and sustainability literacy of teachers through teacher trainings for the sustainable development of schools,

*Examining and exchanging good practices in Europe and in our schools to become ‘Sustainable Schools’ and transferring good practices to our schools,

*Under the themes of ‘My Digital Garden and Back to Nature, learning strategies and methodologies, applying them in our schools and integrating them into our curricula.

De jury, bestaande uit Natalia Lebedeva (JRC), Virginie Feuillade en Elke Verachtert (ESB), maakte tijdens een spetterende en spannende ceremonie de winnaars bekend. De ceremonie was het hoogtepunt van een week vol ontdekkingen en innovatie. 

Alle deelnemers werden geëerd met een certificaat, leuke gadgets en trofeeën als erkenning voor hun harde werk en creativiteit. We zijn ontzettend trots op de getoonde prestaties en kijken nu al reikhalzend uit naar de volgende editie van de Petten Science Competition.

Durante il secondo semestre, le classi di Italiano L1 S1 e S2 hanno lavorato alla realizzazione di un gioco da tavolo ispirato dalla lettura del capolavoro di Jules Verne Il giro del mondo in 80 giorni.
Alla fine della lettura tutti hanno contribuito a creare il gioco dal nulla, dal tabellone, alle regole, dalle pedine alla struttura, a parte le domande organizzate dalla prof … e finalmente come test conclusivo abbiamo giocato al nostro fantastico gioco.

During the second semester, the Italian L1 S1 and S2 classes worked on the creation of a board game inspired by the reading of Jules Verne’s masterpiece Around the World in 80 Days.
At the end of the reading everyone contributed to creating the game, from the board to the rules, from the pawns to the structure, apart from the questions organized by the teacher and finally as a test we played our fantastic game.

Les élèves des classes de la maternelle aux P2 ont réalisé leur autoportrait. Dans un jeu de Qui-est-ce ? Les autres élèves ont pu retrouver facilement le portrait de chacun ; on peut dire qu’ils étaient particulièrement réussis !

Celebrado anualmente a 10 de junho, o Dia de Portugal, de Camões e das Comunidades Portuguesas assinala diferentes aspetos culturais e históricos de Portugal.

O evento presta homenagem a Luís Vaz de Camões, poeta português de renome cuja data da morte é 10 de junho de 1580. Camões é autor da epopeia Os Lusíadas, considerada até hoje a obra mais importante da literatura portuguesa.

Além de homenagear a vida de Camões, neste dia também é comemorada a cultura lusófona na totalidade, incluindo o povo português, a língua portuguesa, as Forças Armadas e as comunidades portuguesas, espalhadas pelo mundo.

Para assinalar esta data, a comunidade educativa portuguesa da Escola Europeia de Bergen decidiu reunir-se e festejar este dia, com a ajuda de alguns dos nossos doces tradicionais. Foi uma tarde muito bem passada! Muito obrigado.

Celebrated annually on June 10, the Day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities marks different cultural and historical aspects of Portugal.

The event pays tribute to Luís Vaz de Camões, a renowned Portuguese poet who died on June 10, 1580. Camões was the author of the epic Os Lusíadas, considered to be the most important work of Portuguese literature to this day.

As well as paying tribute to the life of Camões, this day also commemorates Lusophone culture as a whole, including the Portuguese people, the Portuguese language, the Armed Forces and the Portuguese communities around the world.

To mark this date, the Portuguese educational community at the European School of Bergen decided to get together and celebrate this day, with the help of some of our traditional sweets. It was a great afternoon! Thank you.
