Ask 10 U.S. citizens if they support Israel and 8 out of those 10 people will answer yes. (See article in the Economist) So if the leaders of the USA have an agenda to throw people out of their homes in Israel in order to give Jewish land to terrorists and chop up Jerusalem, it would seem that they would run into some opposition from the citizens of the USA.

While all eyes are focused on the New Hampshire primary, Bush and company are in Jerusalem pushing his "Road Map" and his dream of a Palestinian terrorist state. Sleight of hand politics.

Throughout history there have been a few other leaders of powerful nations who dared to think they could separate the Holy Kotel from the Jewish people. History proves that is not a wise move.

Goodbye to Iams Dog Food After 21 Years

Dusty Prefers Hill's Science Diet

I didn't want to suddenly change Dusty's brand of dog food, so we mixed some of the Science Diet dry dog food into his 1/2 empty bowl of Iams (also dry) food.

About 5 minutes later there was a small pile of Iams dog food on the rug next to his bowl.

Dusty had carefully removed every piece of the Iams food from his bowl and had eaten all of the Science Diet brand.

Photo Description - Dusty lounging on his couch (circa 2007), his favorite thing to do when he is not eating.

Until now, Dusty has never had any other dog food, other than the Iams brand.

We started feeding our dogs Iams Eukanuba in 1986. At the time, Iams was a small family business, unknown outside of the dog breeder circles.

All of our poodle puppies went to their new homes along with an 8 lb bag of Eukanuba puppy food. We wanted only the best for our pups.

A methamphetamine lab and counterfeit money in Eutaw???

As hard as it is to believe, the answer is yes. And to make matters worse, all of that was happening on Lee Street, in a house next door to the elementary school.

How fortunate we are to have a police chief that knows what he is doing and shut the place down. While writing the news article for www.EutawOnline.com, I had to look up the spelling of methamphetamine, it was then that I read just how dangerous those labs are to the community.

They are so dangerous that a hazmat team has to do the clean-up because they are considered a hazardous waste site. What kind of a person would do such a thing next door to an elementary school? It's sickening.

Our police spent the entire day out there and they were still there long after the sun went down. They deserve to be paid more money. They're the ones putting themselves at risk to keep the community safe. They should be paid a lot more than they are getting now.

We'll follow this case and keep you updated as more information becomes available. In the meantime, our neighborhood can begin getting back to normal. The way it was before cars were ripping up and down the street all hours of the day and night, going to and from that house.

Today will be the 10th day in a row with triple digit temperatures. There may be a tiny bit of relief around the corner. James Spann says:

"We will slowly back the afternoon high temperature forecasts down in coming days. Slowly is the important word; you sure won’t be needing any jackets or sweaters anytime soon. Dewpoints will also be rising, meaning the air won’t heat as effectively, but on the other hand it means higher humidity and heat index levels."

Easy Buttercream Frosting

Always start with fresh ingredients. This frosting is very easy to make and tastes so much better than a frosting that comes in a can or is made from a box mix.

Cream together:

1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening (Crisco)
1/2 cup butter

Gradually add:

1 tsp vanilla
4 cups sifted confectioners sugar (1 lb box)
2 tablespoons milk

To thin - use 3 to 4 tablespoons light corn syrup

For white frosting, use clear vanilla

For chocolate frosting, add 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa & 1 - 2 tablespoons milk to the frosting. Ghirardelli is the best and it is not processed with alkali.

The frosting will keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Pie Crust Recipe

Standard Pastry for 8" Two-crust Pie

1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup plus 2 tbsp. Crisco (solid shortening)
3 tbsp. water

1. Measure flour by dip-level-pour method or by sifting. Mix flour and salt in bowl. Cut in shortening with pastry blender until particles are size of peas.

2. Sprinkle with water, 1 tbsp. at a time, mixing with fork, until flour is moistened. Gather dough together with fingers so it cleans bowl. Press into ball. Turn out on lightly floured cloth-covered board.

3. Divide dough about in half; round up larger part on board.

4. Flatten with hand, roll out not quite 1/8" thick. Roll lightly. Keep rounding edge of pastry. If it begins to break, pinch broken edges together immediately.

5. Keep pastry circular and roll it about 1" larger all around than inverted pie pan. Fold pastry in half. Carefully transfer to pie pan.

6. Unfold and ease pastry loosely into pan, being careful not to stretch. (Stretching causes pastry to shrink during baking.)

7. Prepare desired filling and place in pastry-lined pan. Trim off overhanging edges with scissors. Roll second part of dough for top crust large enough to extend 1" beyond edge of pie pan. Measure by holding pie pan over rolled round of pastry.

8. Fold pastry for top crust in quarters. Make several slits near center to allow steam to escape or top crust will puff up. Moisten edge of bottom pastry with water. Carefully place folded pastry evenly on filling. Unfold. Trim pastry with scissors 1/2" from edge of pan.

9. Fold edge of top pastry under edge of lower pastry on rim. Seal thoroughly by pressing with fingertips. Build up a high stand-up rim. Form a fluted edge by firmly placing the right index finger on the inside of rim, left thumb and index finger on outside of pastry at that point. Pinch. Repeat all around edge of pie. Sharpen points by pinching each one firmly.

10. To prevent edge of crust from becoming too brown cover with a 1 1/2" strip of aluminum foil. Bake pie as directed in each recipe. Remove aluminum foil about 15 min. before end of baking time, so edge will brown slightly.
