I was asked to be the first illustrator to create a custom header for the website of We own Rotterdam.
I was inspired by nautical flags because Rotterdam is a harbour city and closely tied to the sea. The words ‘We own Rotterdam’ are made out of these flags and create a new –though temporary– logo.
Two months my header and avatar will be seen here, then it’s up to the next one!

Filter is a gallery space in Enschede (NL), eerst! sells artist made crafts and prints. With every vernissage (and sometimes finissage) of Filter, a two-sided flyer/invitation is being made. One side is Filter and the other side features the activities of eerst!, Filters’ neighbours.
Because eerst!/Filter are non-profit, the costs had the be kept as low as possible. The flyers are being printed in black on coloured papier. Each ‘issue’ has a different colour to make it easy to spot the new one.
Filter has a vintage industrial/typographic style while eerst! is more playful and illustrative.

Promotional campaign in print for the storytelling-event Stories. Every event covers a different country, the first one is Russia. I chose to convey an inviting, folklore image of Russia, hence the Matryoshka and the wood-type. One illustration was made that was used throughout the campaign. By resizing and changing the backgroundcolours for the different media the illustration stayed fresh. A strong form in the shape of a book helps to recognise the upcoming Stories-events.
The campaign consists of an A5 flyer, an A2 poster, a bookmark, several small buttons and strokes of paper with selected info to lay on the seats.

Logo (actually, multiple logoforms) and stationerydesign for a locationscout agency. The squares show little elements that refer to different locations. In case the squares don’t fit right for a certain medium a horizontical, textbased logo can be used, which fits perfectly with all the other items.

The design was developed upon two pictures Seung Hui made himself, which were found online. The images are raw and unpolished, to not influence the beholder (Seung Hui was responsible for the Virginia Tech massacre). Concept by artist Jonas Staal and theorist Vincent W.J. van Gerven Oei, performed by Productiehuis Rotterdam.

Another booklet for the Craftymarkt held in Amsterdam. This time a christmas edition, full of home-made products and some great tips, tricks and tutorials. The design is based on a colourbook. I edited the contents of the book, so I did a lot of research in finding interesting DIY-crafts.

The t-shirt print for the annual GOGBOT festival came from a silkscreen/illustrationproject I was working on a couple of weeks earlier, just for fun.

The first Craftymarkt-booklet showcasing all the sellers and their crafts that were present at the market. The biggest challenge was to create a homogenous booklet from all the material. A ‘cut&paste’ method proved to be very practical and fitting. The titles were handdrawn.
