Last week, I was alerted to an online sale by Maidenform. They make very nice lingerie that's not racy. Not Frederick's of Hollywood by any stretch. They had cute, plunge-front, push up bras on clearance. Bam--ordered two. Was a steal. Got free shipping to boot.

For my random act of kindness for the day, I decided to "share," my good bra fortune by tweeting the sale link with free shipping code. Without CAREFULLY thinking this through, and because the bras were on the sexy side what with the plunge, push-up thing and all, I decided to hashtag my post with #hotwife.

A couple of days later, I noticed that I was mentioned in one of those annoying paper.li posts. You know the ones that say, "story found by @jensako." I was curious but did not have time to open the link. I am in those things all the time anyway. Forgot about it until a couple of days later when I had the time to open it...

Oh my stars. It was PORN. I was in porn with my little tweet about getting bras at Maidenform on sale. There were naked people all over the place doing things that would scare wild animals. Then there was me and my (clothed) Twitter profile pic, just smiling.

Moral of the story? Don't use #hotwife.

I received some exciting news last week about something I had in the works. Like all good, little small business owners should, I have a coach. Preventing Domestic Violence

October 31 was not only Halloween but also marked the end of Domestic Violence Awareness month. According to the National Institute of Justice and Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, one in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.

I think it is interesting that the above statistic was published by the CDC. Domestic violence is a disease. It is a disease of the family and community. If you are not a victim, then you most assuredly know at least one victim.

Unfortunately, domestic violence makes headlines in our local news everyday. The only way to end it is to keep fighting back with education and resources.

This cause is why we are involved in the comedy benefit project, Ring Around the Collar Tour and DVD, along with David L. Cook (Mortemer Crabbottom) and Trina Jeffrie (Sister Cantaloupe).

Rod Stewart's "Merry Christmas, Baby" has all of the Christmas classics mixed with his distinct sound.

Toby Keith's "Hope On The Rocks" continues the lawn party with a few love songs delivered only in the way Keith can deliver: with a pizza and 6-pack.

Completely new to my ears: Meek Mills drops his album "Dreams and Nightmares" with big help from big man Rick Ross and Maybach Records. The title track is brutal in its, "the very bad place from whence I came," theme. My favorite track is "Mayback Curtains" because of featured voice, John Legend.

John Viers | Banjo | Bluegrass

A week or so ago, I blogged about the music education project, The History of the Banjo From Africa to the Appalachian Mountains, developed by bluegrass banjo artist, John Viers. You can read it here.

John is an amazing man with an amazing story. Born in Pulaski County, Virginia, in the Hiwassee area, John learned to play the banjo at a young age. In his adulthood, he owned a little country grocery store and became a champion of literacy in the community, even opening a library branch inside of his store. John was elected to go the governor's convention on literacy in Richmond, VA, and helped get money appropriated for literacy programs. In 1979, he was then invited to the White House for a literacy and library convention, where he also performed the banjo for President Jimmy Carter.

Throughout his life, John has opened shows for some of the country's top bluegrass and country music artists. He was invited repeatedly to perform for Russian diplomats visiting Virginia, who were among his biggest fans. John has performed at the Grand Ole Opry at the invitation of Johnny Cash. He has also performed with Loretta Lynn, Flatt and Scruggs and Mel Street.

John continues to contribute to the preservation of Appalachian music and to bluegrass. One current project is his work with The Crooked Road, Virginia's Heritage Music Trail at Abingdon, VA.

Tony Rosales and The Jazz Piano

Jazz frustrates me. I love listening to it. I love the atmosphere it creates and the way it makes me feel. I even love the improvisation of it. But it still frustrates me.

Actually, it's the marketing of jazz that frustrates me. I want to go to every person's house and sit down with them with a stack of records and a record player and force them to listen. Really listen. But with well over 300,000,000 folks in the United States alone, that will simply take up too much of my time...I would have to spend at least a couple of hours in each home. Or at least up until the police arrive.

So, Plan B is to post this and ask that you read, listen and share, because jazz is an incredibly important art form. It's not dying, but it's not getting the audience it deserves.

One artist to whom I must bring your attention is a pianist called Tony Rosales. With a vibe that has been described as effortless and low-key, Tony entertains an audience each week with this Oscar Peterson music style at Midtown Bistro in North Myrtle Beach, SC. He also performs privately for local notables such as, former governor of South Carolina, Jim Hodges, and professional golfer, Greg Norman.

Rosales had relocated to the Grand Strand area of South Carolina in 1995, from Long Island, New York, where as a teenager, he performed as both a solo pianist and with a trio accompaniment in the Greater New York Metropolitan area. He played as a solo jazz pianist at the Myrtle Beach Hilton Hotel for 8-years. He also played at the many area country clubs and restaurants ranging from Bald Head Island, NC, to Georgetown, SC.

In 1983 and 1984, he opened at the Jazz Festival in Oyster Bay, NY, for the Dave Brubeck Quartet.

Rosales counts classical pianist-composer Vladimir Horowitz and jazz masters Carmen Cavallaro and Oscar Peterson as his influences; and, still practices Hanon finger exercises and scales for hours on a daily basis.

Among the thousands of songs that he has in his repertoire are his own compositions. They are wonderful and I invite you to listen.

John Viers History of the Banjo

The arts are essential to every child's education and development.

A troubling trend is that some schools, facing tight local budgets, are cutting arts programs. This issue is so important that it was addressed by former U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige. In a letter to state and local superintendents, he stated that cutting arts is "disturbing and just plain wrong." -- From the United States Department of Education.

The mission of the History of the Banjo From Africa to the Appalachian Mountains is to serve these schools and their students. Children who experience works of art, benefit in every aspect of their development and well into adulthood. Children from economically disadvantaged circumstances and those who are considered at-risk, will especially benefit, as learning in the arts is strongly related to developing the skills and capacities needed to master other subjects.

John Viers takes children on a forty minute adventure down Southwestern Virginia's Crooked Road. Utilizing his collection of banjos (from the ancient to the modern), guitar, autoharp and dobro, he brings to life the traditional tunes and songs of Southwestern Virginia.

Viers entertains with stories and the history, of how the banjo began as an African instrument made out of a gourd and strings. The children follow the instrument through the journey of adaptation into the homemade Hills banjo made out of animal skins and gut-string. His own banjo provides the children a glimpse and a listen of the banjo of today. The children are encouraged to search out more examples of the banjo and how it has influenced the arts and culture of Appalachia. The entire program lasts 40-minutes with a question and answer period at the end.

"I"ll Still Be Free," by Rozanne Visagie | South African Recording Artist

This beautiful song was written by Rozanne Visagie, a South African recording

artist, about the African countries of South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Here is the story behind it:

"In October, 2007, I was asked to sing at a fundraiser for the Pensioners

of Zimbabwe--a country to the northeast of our country of South Africa.

The Lord inspired me to write the lyrics and music of I'll Still Be Free

and I finally recorded the song in December 2007! I encountered many

obstacles in financing my C.D. Broken Fence. In 2009, I started sending

the demos to various companies, but got no reply. I was diagnosed with

breast cancer in October 2009. After my surgery in November of that

same year, and radiation treatments in January/February 2010, I finally

got the breakthrough and Integrity Media Africa distributed my album.

I'll Still Be Free is the first track on the album. Integrity Media Africa

has been dissolved though and have now become Christian Art Media.

Towards the end of 2007, I was able to make contact with a lovely

Christian woman from Zimbabwe, Bella, who in turn introduced me to

Hilton Marowa who is a Zimbabwean citizen/refugee and lived in Cape

Town (RSA) at the time.

With all the crime,corruption and moral decay that is part of everyday life

in Africa, and has become the norm worldwide,we believe that Jesus is the

only answer for this troubled and yet beautiful continent of Africa!

Hilton just sang the words in Shona naturally onto my English lyrics in the

studio on the day of recording and it was truly miraculous how two artists

who don't know one another at all, could just work together like that for a

few hours and be able to create a message that would hopefully bring

some hope to a country that has very little hope!

A local arranger, musician and producer from Stellenbosch (SA), Helmut

Meijer, created a unique "African and yet still folk/Western fusion,"

sound with this track. This was great as I am an Afrikaans speaking white

South African and Hilton is a Shona speaking man from Zimbabwe.

The co-operation on this track I believe, was inspired by the Holy Spirit, who

binds us all together."

I find this song to be both wonderful and poignant; sad yet hopeful. We cannot ignore the problems of this incredibly beautiful continent. There is much we can do and we can start with this: please enjoy, share and comment.

The Artists Music Guild call for entries has ended and now we begin the certification process. We had hundreds and hundreds of entries. Not too shabby for the first year.

We are so excited to be able to move on to certification. We have a team of industry professionals lined up for a Friday night meeting to certify each name to come up with a list of qualified nominations to put on the ballot. Needless to say, this will be a long meeting. I know I will be firing up the Keurig!

I have to share this little video I made on my Flip. It was after our seminars on the Saturday of our Artists Music Guild annual convention. Members John Viers on banjo, Tom Ohmsen on mandolin and Greg Watson on guitar got together on the spur of the moment and began to play. Greg sang us some lyrics. It was a very cool, impromptu moment. I was so happy that I brought along my little camera and got to catch it.

What Can You Do v.2 for Artists

I was just hitting the publish button on my Artists Music Guild blog--I have a couple of blogs, see also my blog at JenSako StyleBook--when it occurred to me that you might want this same information!

I'm all about the sharing...

Here is an excerpt with the all the good "meat"

We all want the world to beat that proverbial path to our door to buy the fantastic mousetrap we built, painted or composed. As an artist, this may be your struggle. When will you paint the piece that will appeal to the person with the ability to pay what you need upon which you can live until your next creation? Where can you put this piece so that Mr. Moneybags sees it, falls in love, buys it and pays you? If you are writing music, what song will you eventually sell that appeals to such a mass of people that you hit the charts, sell all your records and become a house-hold name?

There is no doubt in my mind that many of you have such a potential. You have already joined the Artists Music Guild to propel and control your career. You are taking an artist's career quite seriously and you have strategic plans to make IT happen.

An important piece of the plan is how to sustain the plan until you make your goal. What does the buying public look for more than anything else? Information! We live in an information age. The key is to package the information only you have so that it is appealing, simple and buyable. You need to be edible!

How do you become edible? Take your skill--something you at which you are very good and at which you feel great passion--and break it down step-by-step into worksheets, chapters, demonstrations and videos. Turn that into a buyable product, such as seminars, camps, conferences, DVDs, CDs or books. Market and sell to the masses that are hungry to do what you do how you do it.

My passion happens to be events. Here is my idea...we work together on your next song-writing camp, oil-painting conference or your particular Unique Technique Weekend. Pitch me your talent and idea.

With this post to our Artists Music Guild membership, I was appealing to their creative nature to push themselves to use what they already possess for a possible stream of revenue. Now I ask you...what can you do?

Dallas Fashion Consultant, Julie Bartlett of Colour IQ, offers tips for a fabulous head shot:

Head Shots are important visual aids for social media sites, corporate portfolios, personal or business websites, a biography, newsletters, press releases - anytime an attractive photo of yourself is needed.

What's in a head shot? The photo can be of your head and face only, shoulders upwards, or waist upwards. Color head shots make up 95% of that type photo used today but black and white photos seem to have a timeless quality and mystery about them.

Here are some tips for that perfect head shot:

Preparation: A week before your scheduled photo shoot, exfoliate your face, neck and hands to present a clean and youthful skin for the camera. Afterward apply a light moisturizer each day to keep your skin from drying and discourage it from over producing it's own oil. If you are not troubled by Rosacea a gentle exfoliate can be used up to twice a week.

Make-up: After your moisturizer and before your foundation, apply an Oil Mattifier to your face to absorb any excess oil. Your foundation should be one shade darker than your skin tone and use a yellow concealer under the eyes to balance the bleaching effect of the bright lights. For an added eye-lift, apply yellow concealer to the outer corners of your eyes. If your eyes are set close together, make them appear wider spaced by applying concealer on the inside corners. If your concealer melts under hot lights, use a nude eyeliner pencil and set with translucent powder.

Highlights: Two ways to shape and contour the face are to use Highlights (to bring attention to an area of the face), and Low-lights (to deflect attention). Apply Powder in a 'V' on the neck to narrow a wide neck.

Eyes and Teeth: Heavy eyeliner makes the eyes look smaller, and may unnaturally dominate your features. Use a lighter shade of the same color on the lower lashes to prevent this effect. Clean and bright teeth add tons of appeal to your appearance, use a teeth whitening product to give you that great smile.

Online travel site, TripAdvisor®, recently announced the launch of a new Management Centre with free resources and content to help hospitality business owners, managers and marketers engage with the TripAdvisor traveller community, drive sales and manage their properties’ reputations online. This resource platform serves as an educational hub with videos, how-to guides and tips, providing owners with crucial strategies for reaching researching travellers on TripAdvisor.

The new Management Centre includes the following resources and enhancements:

· How-to guides and tip sheets: Quick overviews and advice on the most effective marketing activities
