Infusing some New Life

While its a while since we have updated our blog on EventXP, we thought it would be great to revive it soon to our readers interest.

As its all basically about events, there was one new event (should we call it) that excited us more than most else. This is Sanjukta's journey the SWBT (Single Woman Budget Traveller) as mentioned on her blog, defined by her rules, which is not easy, as all of us opine.

What if she is not prepared for the 'predators of the wild' or the 'wild human predators' of whereever she goes?

What if she does not know to fight back the resistance around or within?

What if she does not get food, water or stay on this unplanned journey?

Might sound pessimestic at first, however let's think rationally. Are these not probablities? Are these not something we have heard of or seen that bring us terror when the near and dear ladies of our life intend to travel alone?

Although, our humane conscience extends our arms to hold her back and resist that risk, a more blatant stream of curiosity overpowers the fears, and wants someone to take that leap, so that we can give a known example rather than superstitiously follow the hear-say.

And thats exactly what we are looking to capture. Let's see if we are successful in doing justice to it.

If you have an approach you like us to attempt or cover some points yoou think are key, just write it on our comments and we will see the best way to accomodate it. Kindly bear in mind that, this is a remotely written blog, and might not have a first person experience.

BFT on 8th May 2010 at Momoz & Corner House, Kormangala

Having planned for the Momoz Tweetup this #BFT (Bangalore Friday Tweetup), I kept the invitation short and private. Thanks to @sanjaykkumar and @mithsm for making it without fail.

We started with some bland Thupka, graduated to Triple Shezwan Fried Rice and then Dragon Mushroom. Post that we went to Corner House for an Ice Cream as planned and discussed friends, food, bikes and Bangalore while savoring our Yummy choices.

Was a Wonderful #BFT :)

All Ladies Night

Were going through Facebook Events and found this one-of-its-kind event "Lavender Nights-The First All Gurl Party in Bangalore" at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=302485165269.

Although, the Event is truly a eye-catcher for both the women and the men (for obvious reasons), what we observed was that this event is "Strictly for Women", even though the event page does not restrict men from RSVPing.

Curious as every soul, although they have specified they are there for Music, we wonder what these slinky lavender outfit girls, showing off their pride are up to. As they say :

#BFT at 3Storeys Bangalore

This #BFT (Bangalore Friday Tweetup) we had at 3 Storeys the sea food joint off Lavelle Road, was quite an attendance. With @angeldirect (Tina) not there for it, @dhempe (Hrish) and @brandbull (ShyamS) organized it with close to 15 people attending it. @swarathma was represented by Jishnu, who shared a lot of insights into the band, its history and some funny moments. Comments and questions poured in from every corner with @murlidharbhat (Murlidhar) discussing his stint at Social Media, @dhempe (Hrish) discussing his adventures on Twitter, @faiqg (Faiq) adding some smiles and @therealnaren (Naren), @Pratsie (Prathiba), @twahul (Rahul), @sidh256 (Siddharth), @brandbull (ShyamS), @flyfiddlesticks (Prasanna), @bigrjs (Rajesh) and a few others (Forgot their Twitter IDs) adding their bits to make it an interesting forum. We also saw Jishnu wishing to do a Fan-driven @swarathma event. Any ideas fans?

The food was not that great with most of us not liking the excessive coconut in them. Of the non-veggies and fish, there were a few who relished it and few who did not have comments. On the whole the experience was fun-filled, full of interesting conversations, however, lacking in finger-licking food.

Post this a few of us went to have IceCream at Lakeside IceCream Parlor and savored a few different delicacies. :)

Post TED BIA Tweetup

As we waited for the known TED Fellows to some by at the Bangalore International Airport, we bumped into Pranav Mistry, the Indian MIT geek superhero, responsible for the Sixth Sense device that may hit us soon. Recollected the TED Video of Pattie Maes I saw a few days back showcasing the remarkable device.

Also exchanged Smiles with Kabir Bedi as he was rushing for his flight, with a quick "Hi" shoutout!

Then came @gauravonomics, @sanjuktha, @dina, @labnol, @amitverma, Pat, Parmesh (editor Vogue Magazine), and a few lovely friends. [Will update this list with the appropriate names soon. Will ask Lord @dhempe.]

Forum Nokia Bloggers Meet

Thanks to Songita and Hrish, I was invited to the Forum Nokia Bloggers Meet. A small entrant among the experienced biggies, I walked in late as I missed my way.

Promptly greeted by Praveen Karoshi from the Nokia Developers team was introduced to the app 'WeMeet' by his friend. Pretty cool app, especially for the college kids and SMS freaks, one can send as many SMSes as possible to a group of Nokia Mobile users among friends and still be charged for just one SMS. As strange as it sounded, I did realize that t was all courtesy Nokia's relentless research on this Java app and it was a Pilot release of the beta version.

I waded my way through a few small groups catching up, shaking hands and exchanging smiles with everyone who smiled back. I reached the big man and star of the event Mohammed. Very charming guy as he was, he was patiently listening to all the WOWs and Brickbats with the same enthusiasm.

With ideas brimming my braincells, I started a conversation with Mohammed, about how we could tag all the Social Networking IDs together to one's 'WeMeet' ID and when updated the message could go to all their friends on either networks. It also would mean one did not have to reveal his Mobile number and yet welcome incoming messages. Another advantage, I saw was of employing a unification tool online which would link all the Social Networking Unique IDs / Vanity URLs to one's WeMeet account and enable conversations and planning among fiends, colleagues and group mates. This would help coordinate and plan trips, events, meetings and even casual get-together via just a couple of messages and reach out to one and all on one's friend list.

After the gyaan and chat was a impromptu photo session, whose results are herewith. In all a cheerful meeting of smiley ideas. :)

At Bangalore International Airport for a Tweetup

Out to catch a glimpse of the Stalwarts of Social & other Media Tweeple returning from TED India, Hrish and I, went to the Bangalore International Airport for a quick chat. While we were expecting the Tweeps to arrive, I got itchy to click a few snaps while Hrish was Tweeting away on his Blackberry phone. Here are some pretty pics.

Gauravonomics Tweetup

One of the first Tweetups, I discovered hanks to Hrish (@dhempe) and was at. Was visiting the 13th Floor after quite a time. Seated in open air and a corner table for comfortable commotion generation, the place was absolutely amazing with delicious short-eats and beer flowing by.

@gauravonomics, @pkjohn, @plasmadog, @chikodi, @NetikaR, @fossiloflife, @dhempe, @santoshp, @brandbull, Rachael (the TEDIndia chief's secretary), and a couple more friends, I fail to recollect names or handles of, all enjoyed the gala and chatter amidst our varied choice of drinks and eats.

The view from the 13th Floor was awesome with everything getting so tiny and toy-like. At least after those few beers rolled down the throat, it was! :D

The Mobile Monday Tweetup on Saturday

Yes. The Concept of a Mobile Monday when brought together with a Tweetup, is a bunch of Geeks and Users coming together on one platform and discussing nuances of how and what Mobile apps can do to their lifestyles. Thanks to Amit Singh (@abeoye) and the Mobile Monday staff, we Tweeps were exposed to a few new apps on the Mobile platform, and they had our opinions to record.

WeMeet, Nokia's new Java Platform to send one SMS to many and still be costed at one message, was cool! Then there was Way2Goals demonstrating the use of their app, helping people making informed decisions on what's the best Fixed Deposit we could invest in.

The most exciting news of the afternoon was that, Forum Nokia Developers Conference 2009 had sponsored our food and made us happy.
The food spread at Kyra was good, however what left me wanting for more was their Gulab Jamun and Strawberry Mousse. Lip-Smacking, I say! That alerts me, that the next time on, I should start and end with the deserts. :P

Thanks to the Media industry for showering Twestival India with a whole lot of love and attention this time. For posterity’s sake, let me pull it all together in one place here. Most of these are pre-event features except for Times of India. There is still a lot of scope for detailed analysis of the Twestival scene at India – if anyone is interested, let me know.

We have also been covered by TV, primarily by the two channels TV9 and CNN IBN Network 18. We did speak with NDTV but I don’t think they covered any of the events live when they happened in the six cities between 10-13 Sep. Bangalore Fashion Week - Day 2

It was the first time in Fashion, Bangalore was taken seriously, Coping up with the Metros, Was Bangalore certainly. They knew it wasn't easy, They knew they weren't big, They put the show together, It was a Dream Merchants gig. The whos-who was present, The big names showed their crafts, It was an opportunity sure, For Creative (wo)men of sorts. There were some who went conventional, There were some so refershing new, The Gorgeous girls sashayed the ramp, Dressed in impressive hues. Babycorns and Peacocks on yards, Mohit wowed the crowd, The trendy magic of Ramesh Dembla, Made our city men proud. Bhakti's and Kaira's designs, Bridged the west south gap, Diganth, Zulfi and Jackie, Were the stars for whom, all clapped. At last there was the bubbly, Samant Chauhan, oh boy! He cast a spell that everyone loved, A fresh new trend, ahoy! Awaiting for the days ahead, Are all the fashion freaks, When Manoviraj Khosla and Rocky S, Will show Bangalore their streaks.
