Conquest 2012

Can you imagine a bunch of 23 year old graduates getting funded by Sequoia Capital?

A startup based in a remote rural town, trying to solve the nation’s healthcare problem, going on to win every major business challenge in the world and then getting acquired by one of the largest healthcare companies in India.

What’s common to both of these?
They started their journey with Conquest.

Conquest 2011, one of the most startup friendly competitions, saw all the 10 finalists successfully start their ventures. So, if you have a startup that needs more resources to scale up, apply to Conquest 2012. To apply, fill up the application form by 30th May 2012.

Event Details

All participating teams must satisfy at least one of the following eligibility criteria:

• The team should comprise of at least one individual who has enrolled in an accredited college or University before 15th March 2012; or
• The team should not have registered their business before 1st January 2011.

Highlights of the Event

Here are some of the incentives to apply -

1. Top 35 startups get a chance to interact with mentors face to face at a city of their choice.
2. And then 10 or more startups can secure incubation at a place of their choice along with angel investment opportunities of up to USD 800,000.
3. Even if you are at an idea stage, you are provided intensive training and can secure seed fund up to USD 20,000.

ABOUT VIPA 2012:

The capital city of Austria, Vienna one of the most important cultural cities in Europe enjoys a good reputation in its music, literature, theater and fine arts for many years. However, in the field of contemporary photography Vienna has a rising demand to follow up with the rest of the world. Inspired by many international competitions in photography we therefore decided to set up and organize the annual Vienna International Photographic Awards « VIPA » for documentary photography.

In Vienna interest for photography has been there for a long time, the European Society for the History of Photography has its seat there, and the major Viennese museums feature important exhibitions of photography. It is therefore only logical that the Vienna International Photographic Awards « VIPA » have been founded in order to renew the photographic heritage of the city nowadays.

KUNSTNETZWERK (modern contemporary art gallery and network) and founder Raed Bawayah (photographer), in collaboration with « Eyes-On » the European Month of Photography Vienna will organize the first Vienna International Photographic Awards « VIPA » in 2012 for documentary photography. Our mission is to salute the achievements of the world’s finest photographers, to discover new and emerging talents, and to promote and enhance contemporary photography in Austria and all over the world. The « VIPA » conduct an annual competition for professional, non-professional and student photographers.

Besides the total value of 7.000 EUR in money prizes the short-listed winners will be able to take part in a group exhibition in November 2012 in Vienna (during the European Month of Photography) as well as in the publication of VIPA’s official catalogue. The awards will be divided into three sections: 1st prize (4.000 EUR), 2nd prize (2.000 EUR) and 3rd prize (1.000 EUR). The awards of the prices, the presentation of the official catalogue as well the opening of the group exhibition will be held on the 15th November 2012 in Vienna. Participants will choose the theme of their photo series submission.

The competition will be judged by a board of highly esteemed photo editors, curators, art directors and other luminaries from the international photography community.

ELIGIBILITY FOR VIPA 2012:

Qualification: The competition will be open for professional, non-professional and student photographers from any country. Applicants must be 18 years old or over.

Entry Fees: Participants will be charged 29 euros for entering the competition (1 to 5 images). Payment can be made online by Paypal. Submissions are non-refundable. Entry fees are required to cover venue hire, catalogues, printing and organization of the event.

Submission:
ONLINE SUBMISSIONS ONLY
Entries will consist of whole or partial photos series. Photographs can be in black and white or in color, in any format. Only digital files are accepted. Do not send original prints. All digital images should be provided as jpgs only, 72 dpi, image width not to exceed 1024 pixels on the longest side. Files should be titled as follows: Lastname_1Title.jpg

Participants warrant that, if their work is selected for exhibition, they have obtained the appropriate model releases from persons featured in their submitted photographs for all sales, marketing, educational and publicity uses and that no additional releases are required in respect of names, trademarks, designs or works of art depicted in the work.

The shortlist winners will be contacted by e-mail by the organizer during summer 2012. If selected on the shortlist, participants will be required to send prints (30×40 cm) by post mail.

Submitted materials will not be returned. VIPA is not responsible for the loss or damage of any entry. Submission of an entry to the contest automatically constitutes the contestant’s acceptance of all conditions set forth in the above section.

Use Rights:? Entrants whose submissions are accepted for exhibition grant KUNSTNETZWERK the right to use their images for the purpose of marketing the exhibition, marketing related programs, and subsequent display on the KUNSTNETZWERK website, unless indicated otherwise.
