Hotel Feature: Le Toiny St. Barths

Continuing on with our St. Barths week, I am thrilled to share the wonderful hotel we stayed at, Hotel Le Toiny. Located on 38 acres of luscious green hillside, Le Toiny consists of only 15 private villas, all overlooking the Bay of Toiny & the Caribbean Sea. The hotel is truly one of the most exclusive and private on the island of St. Barths and each villa is complete with its own gated entrance and private pool.

We had an absolutely incredible stay at this hotel! It felt like we were staying at our own private villa, but we still had great service just a phone call away. Destination Spotlight: St. Barths

As many of you know, I was lucky enough to venture off to the beautiful islands of St. Barths & Anguilla last week with the wonderful Summer Watkins of Grey Likes Weddings and my assistant Lindsey and we had just about the best time ever! None of us had visited either island before, and boy were we in for a treat! So for this, I am super excited to share all of our adventures on St. Barths and then next week I will spill all the fun details of the island of Anguilla.

St. Barthelemy, better known as St. Barths (or St. Barts) is an island collectivity of France, nestled a midst the Lesser Antilles of the Caribbean known as the French West Indies. Unlike the surrounding Caribbean islands, St. Barths is a little piece of Europe in the Atlantic Ocean, and when I say little, I mean a mere 8 square miles little.

Being in the Honeymoon business, I always have clients wanting the glamorous European getaway without the hellish long travel time, and St. Barths is the solution to this problem! The native language of the island is French, but English is widely spoken. The feel is relaxed, sophisticated elegance; French Riviera with a laid back Caribbean touch. Travel 101: Is An All Inclusive Hotel Right For You?

Many hotels are redefining what it means to be an all inclusive property. With five-star restaurants, pristine beaches, and impeccable service, these resorts are most certainly worthy of their luxury reputation. This being said, all inclusive hotels aren't perfect for every couple. It all comes down to the destination and the type of experience you are wanting.

Here are some things to consider when you are deciding whether to stay at an all inclusive resort:

-Budget: Are you wanting to know ahead of time exactly how much you will be spending on meals and drinks during your honeymoon? Then an all inclusive hotel would definitely be great for you. This way everything is pre-paid: food, drinks, taxes, gratuities, and usually some activities.

-The Experience: Do you see your honeymoon spent mostly at your hotel, enjoying their beaches and restaurants? Or do you see your days spent visiting the local towns and doing adventurous activities outside of your hotel? It only makes sense to stay at an all inclusive hotel if you plan to spend a vast majority of your time there.

-Destination: Not every destination in the world has all inclusive hotels. There are plenty in Mexico, the Caribbean and Costa Rica. In Fiji many resorts include meals but not beverages. In destinations like Hawaii and Europe all inclusive hotels are not an option.

While most people think all inclusive hotels are just large mega resorts, there are also small boutique properties. So don't be deterred from staying at an all inclusive hotel just because you want to stay at a smaller resort.

Real Honeymoon: Riviera Maya

Today we have another beautiful Real Honeymoon in Riviera Maya, Mexico! I absolutely LOVE sending clients to this part of Mexico because it has pristine beaches, five-star restaurants, and impeccable service. Hotels like Rosewood Mayakoba have redefined what it means to be a luxury resort with a level of taste and service that leaves their guests with one question- when can they go back?!

For Robert & Susan, the Rosewood Mayakoba was just perfect. When these two were trying to pick where to spend their honeymoon, they agreed on several things: they both wanted somewhere not too far from home, a tropical destination, the ability to sight-see if they had the urge, and the ability to spend some days on the beach. They also agreed that they weren't looking for a huge hotel, but more of an intimate hideaway with a relaxing atmosphere. After thumbing through some other options, the two decided that Rosewood Mayakoba was the perfect spot.

Between lazy days by the pool sipping tequila, to nights spent dancing in their suite, Robert & Susan made time for day trips to visit tourist sites and for activities, but the two were always happy to get back to their suite at the Rosewood Mayakoba. The hotel and staff really made the trip extra special and they even upgraded the honeymooners to an Ocean View Suite with a private pool so the two could enjoy the breathtaking rooftop terrace. Awesome, right?!

Luxurious, romantic, & relaxing – the Rosewood Mayakoba was just the ticket for these two newlyweds. I am so happy they had such an amazing time! I mean, how could you not?? This resort is beautiful!!

Destination Spotlight: Prague

Today, we are venturing across the pond to Prague for this Destination Spotlight. Now, don't get me wrong, I love a beachfront escape just as much as the next girl, but sometimes, you just need a bustling city to explore. At a glance, the Czech Republic appears to be similar to its surrounding neighbors of Poland, Austria, or Germany. But if you look closer, you quickly realize that the intricately tiled sidewalks and colored buildings set it apart from its neighbors. A city that's over 1,000 years old, Prague possesses an extraordinary charm about it that can only really be understood by those who have visited the intriguing, historical city.

One of my favorite places to stay in Prague is The Augustine. The picturesque history of this Czech capital city, while apparent in any of the ancient buildings lining the city streets, The Augustine is a perfect example of the "New Prague," taking the old and revolutionizing it. Converted from a 14th century monastery, The Augustine overlooks the Prague Castle, the largest castle in the world! The hotel is dressed head to toe with a Bohemian mid-century modern feel and was featured in Elle Decor's 2009 "What's Hot" column.

While you're in Prague be sure to make reservations of V Zatisi, Prague's most famous restaurant that has just undergone an extensive facelift you can't afford to miss out on. Make sure to also stop by the cozy, stone-walled restaurant of Le Terroir. Known for their Mediterranean-inspired Czech food, Le Terroir has an excellent wine list with over 650 vintages.

Real Honeymoon: Riviera Maya, Mexico

Hey everyone! Such an exciting week ahead here at Ever After Honeymoons!! On Wednesday, we will be venturing to the beautiful islands of St. Barths & Anguilla with Summer Watkins of Grey Likes Weddings! Stay tuned for exciting twit-pics and updates!

Today I am excited to feature Kendall from The Yes Girls on her honeymoon with Tommy in Riviera Maya, Mexico. First off, if you don't know of The Yes Girls, you should get to know about them! These girls help guys come up with fun and romantic proposals. Genius, right?

The two newlyweds chose to escape to El Dorado Maroma in Riviera Maya. After their wedding they didn't want to spend a lot of time traveling so Riviera Maya was the perfect destination.

El Dorado Maroma is a gorgeous adults only, all inclusive resort. The resort is located on Maroma Beach, which is the nicest strip of beach in Riviera Maya. The resort has just 74 suites, so it is really quiet and private- perfect for honeymoon couples!

Relaxing and not having an agenda was their favorite part of their honeymoon! After their trip, Kendall had some really good advice for other couples preparing for their own honeymoons:

"Don't try to plan too much. Enjoy every day and really act like you are on your honeymoon! So many times on vacation we come home more tired than when we left because of how much we try to do. Read, eat, don't think about stress back home & just enjoy each others company!"

Sometimes, advice like that is so easy to forget and I agree that it is so important to just enjoy your time together when you are on your honeymoon. Rejuvenating, blissful, & fun, El Dorado Maroma was the ideal escape for Kendall & Tommy. So glad you guys had such a great time!

Travel 101: Honeymoon Decision Time

A lot of my clients have a tough time when it comes to making decisions about their honeymoon, whether this means picking the right destination or the perfect resort. The good news is that you really can't go wrong! Regardless of where you go you will have an amazing time enjoying your newlywed bliss. But if you are still having trouble with making a decision, here are a few tips to help with the decision making process.

1. If you are trying to decide between two destinations, decide to visit both! Go to one destination for your honeymoon and then visit the other destination for an anniversary trip.

2. When trying to decide between two different destinations or resorts, talk about what you each like about each place. Discuss what you would do at each spot, and what your perfect days would be like. Don't just look through "must see" lists by other people- what would YOU want to do? Look through pictures and really imagine yourselves in each place- where are you most excited about?

3. If the travel time is significantly different, go with the destination with the shorter travel time. This way you will spend less time on airplanes and more time enjoying your honeymoon!

With all of this being said, don’t put too much pressure on your honeymoon! Your honeymoon is not just about where you go or what you do. Your honeymoon is about enjoying the beginning of the rest of your lives together. A lot of couples think that their honeymoon has to be the best vacation of their lives. Well that doesn’t give you a lot to look forward to! You can (and hopefully will!) take more luxurious trips in your life.

Real Honeymoon: Greece

Today, I am super excited to share the honeymoon adventures of Ashley from Be Inspired PR & her new hubby Tyman! They are just about one of the cutest couples around (to see what I mean, click here, here, & here!!) and they were such a joy to work with. Ashley & Tyman decided on Greece because not only had neither been before, they also felt that the destination offered a good balance of relaxing and adventurous activities.

To kick off the honeymoon, Ashley & Tyman began in Mykonos at the Kivotos hotel. With only 38 rooms, it was a perfect escape after all of the wedding festivities. The Kivotos Hotel is also absolutely amazing, with some of the best views of the island and a fabulous private beach.

Next, the two ventured to the romantic island of Santorini and stayed at the Aressana. Of the two major cities on the island, Oia & Fira, Oia was the couples favorite because they felt it was quintessential Greece, and I have to agree! The bright white buildings against the rugged landscape and gorgeous blue waters.... I can't get enough!

After their island adventures, the two headed back to the mainland and explored some of the beautiful Greek historical sites including Delphi & Meteora. Lastly, the two stayed in Athens at the Ava Hotel & Suites. Finishing up their honeymoon escape with some of the best site seeing Greece has to offer was perfect for these two and they left filled with enough Greek yogurt & Greek salad to last them a lifetime :).

Destination Spotlight: Kauai

We have been getting a ton of requests lately for Kauai, so I wanted to give the island a little lovin' today! Kauai is one of my favorite islands in Hawaii because of how much it offers. One main road encircles the island's entirety, excluding the vast 15 mile stretch of cliffs known as the Napali Coast. One of the most exciting activities to partake in when visiting Kauai is a helicopter tour, such as Jack Harter's "Door's Off" tour- literally, no doors on this helicopter! They also offer ones with doors if this idea scares you.

By seeing the island from a bird's eye view, you are able to see so many beautiful things that you would never be able able to see otherwise. From dipping into the vast canyons, to flying along the sea cliffs of the Napali Coast and getting up close and personal with the gigantic waterfalls, the beauty of Kauai is unparalleled.

Another exciting site on the island of Kauai is the Queen's Bath in Princeville. This "pool" is carved into a lava shelf and is the size of several large swimming pools combined. While it is typically closed in the winter months, the water is almost always calm and crystal clear when the tide cooperates during the summer months. It is just another amazing natural beauty in Kauai.

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! To get the week started off right, I am excited to feature the exquisite honeymoon of Bryan & Laura to Bora Bora & Moorea. Travel 101: Cool Pools

With heat waves sweeping the country, taking a dip in one of these unique and exotic pools never sounded so good!

Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

First up we have the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. Take a break from the casino action and the Vegas-style shows of the Sands in the SkyPark Pool, the world's largest infinity pool at over 650 feet in the air. The Marina Bay Sands is a perfect stop on your way to or from Bali.

Amangiri, Utah

Next, we have one a little closer to home. The Amangiri at Canyon Point, Utah features, as it's centerpiece, a breathtaking pool that blends with the landscape of the desert. If you're looking for a chlorine-free dip, the resort is located near Lake Powell and the Colorado River.

Fasano Las Piedras, Uruguay

This third pool had us doing a double take. Carved into the natural beauty of of Punta del Este, Uruguay, the pool at Fasano Las Piedras is the perfect way to unwind after a round at the resort's Arnold Palmer designed golf course.

Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge, South Africa

Not only does each ultra-luxurious, glass-fronted suite at the Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge afford stunning views of the majestic flora and fauna of South Africa, they each feature a private plunge pool. For today's post, I am excited to show you some of my favorite overwater bungalows. There is truly no better way to experience relaxation and romance than spending time in an overwater bungalow in paradise. What makes them extra special is that they can't be built just anywhere. Overwater bungalows can only be built in protected lagoons and reefs to shield them from waves and rough waters. Overwater bungalows have become a staple for resorts in French Polynesia, but there are other breathtaking options as well. So I am going to start with some of my current favorites, the One & Only Reethi Rah in the Maldives, the Likuliku Lagoon Resort in Fiji, and Cayo Espanto in Belize. Real Honeymoon: Maui & Kauai

I have been so excited about featuring this next honeymoon! This is Melissa and Dan's honeymoon escape to Hawaii. The newlyweds spent 5 nights at the Fairmont Kea Lani on Maui and then another five nights at the St. Regis Princeville on Kauai. Melissa and Dan were looking for a combination of beach, romance, and adventure, and Hawaii fit the bill perfectly!

Maui was a perfect introduction to Hawaiian culture. The couple spent their time enjoying a catamaran excursion where they had the opportunity to "snuba" (a fun combination of snorkeling and scuba diving) and they also spent a day exploring the waterfalls and beautiful views on the road to Hana. They also went on a Hawaiian cultural canoe experience, complete with whale sightings and sea turtles!

After their adventures on Maui, the newlyweds made their way to the breathtakingly beautiful island of Kauai, the "ultimate Hawaii experience" in their opinion. Melissa and Day spent time in Hanalei Bay, snorkeling and and stand-up paddle boarding (best workout ever!). They also went zip-lining at Princeville Ranch, relaxed in the luxurious hotel spa, took a spectacular helicopter tour of the island, and enjoyed stunning sunsets each evening prior to delicious dinners.

After their trip, Melissa and Dan had some spectacular advice for other couples preparing for their honeymoon: "Don't hesitate to splurge a little - it's your honeymoon! Pamper yourselves with a couple's massage, rent a convertible to drive around with the top down, and don't hesitate to book that helicopter ride. Also, take lots of photos and video - it's such a special time and it's fun to capture that newlywed/honeymoon bliss!"

Destination Spotlight: Arch Hotel London

I am pumped to share an awesome hotel in London for today's Destination Spotlight. I was lucky enough to stay here earlier this year and absolutely loved this hotel! The Arch Hotel in London is a unique combination of English heritage and contemporary boutique style, spanning seven Georgian town homes and two mews homes. Each of the 82 rooms are unique and individually designed with work from rising British artists and all of the techy accessories you could ask for. What's more, the location of the Arch Hotel is quite perfect, situated behind Hyde Park and just a short walk to the shopping on Oxford Street and fun pubs on Carnaby Street.

The Arch was the perfect base for exploring the incredible city of London! And GET THIS the bathrooms at the Arch Hotel are fabulous to say the least. If you are anything like me, you agree that after a day of exploring the city, there's nothing better than sinking into a warm bath with a glass of bubbly and a little trashy British TV. That's right, one of the walls facing the tub has a built in TV, complete with a waterproof remote! I was in heaven!

Real Honeymoon: Italy

For today's Real Honeymoon, I am excited to share the Italian escape of Amanda and Colin. These two newlyweds ventured to some of my favorite places in Italy: Sorrento, Capri, and Rome. Originally, the two wanted to do a beach vacation, knowing they were going to be exhausted from all of the wedding festivities, but they decided to nix that idea and go on an Italian adventure. Sorrento met the couple with relaxation and delicious food, Capri offered a few more opportunities for site-seeing without being too exhausting, and finally, after some relaxation and rejuvenation, the two arrived in Rome for exciting sites and delicious foodie experiences! Amanda and Colin started their trip in Sorrento at the crazy-chic La Minervetta and in their own words, this was "such a perfect place to feel spoiled and start our honeymoon." I love that! It is just the way a couple should feel on their honeymoon.

These two are huge foodies and started following Italian food bloggers on Twitter so they were able to find some amazing restaurants. In Rome, Amanda and Colin were head over heels for the Carbonara at Roscioli, and they also said that the 6-course tasting menu at All'Oro was probably the best meal they ever had!

Gorgeous, adventurous, and delicious, the three perfect words to describe Amanda and Colin's honeymoon getaway. I'm loving all of their pictures! Aren't they the cutest??

Travel 101: Seat Upgrades

Good morning everyone! Today, I am excited about letting you all in on some secrets of snagging airline upgrades. When you are traveling for your honeymoon, sitting in First Class makes it all the more fun! So here are a few tips:

Be Timely: Arrive at the airport early so that you are among the first passengers to check in for your flight. This is key to being at the top of the upgrade list.

Be Polite: Airline personnel have to deal with pushy and impolite passengers day in and day out. Approaching the ticket counter with a smile can be all it takes for a ticket agent to want to help you. Ask about their day, tell them you just got married, and be extra friendly.

Be Persistent: Sometimes airlines decide to bump people up to First Class at the very last minute. It's very possible that while the agent at the ticket counter was unable to provide you with an upgrade, the agent at the gate has the capabilities.

Be Cute: Skip your typical flying attire of sweats and a t-shirt and throw on a casual summer dress or a cute top and flats. Although no airline personnel will ever admit it, they will probably be more likely to give you an upgrade if you dress the part of a First Class passenger.

Be Realistic: Unfortunately, just because you are a happy honeymoon couple doesn't mean you are automatically going to get an upgrade. If you are flying to Tahiti and hoping for an upgrade, using "it's our honeymoon" it most likely won't work, seeing as the majority of the other passengers are probably on their honeymoon as well!

Be Smart: Always make sure to mention if you are a frequent flyer with that particular airline or a partnering airline, or if you have a credit card with that airline. These are always a plus!

So those are a few tricks I (and past clients) have found to be very effective when trying to snag upgrades. What works best for you?

Real Honeymoon: British Virgin Islands

Today I am so excited to feature Kent & Emily's incredible honeymoon to the British Virgin Islands. They stayed at Little Dix Bay Resort for 2 nights and then spent 5 nights at Peter Island Resort. They absolutely loved both of these resorts! Kent and Emily said, "We really enjoyed the intimate feel that both resorts had to offer. We felt like we were the only ones there for a good portion of the time."

So beautiful, right?! Kent & Emily had a trip to remember. They loved both resorts and because the two were so different from one another, they felt like they went on two honeymoons! Word to the wise from Kent & Emily, make sure to pack sunscreen because the hotels charge a premium for it and also, if you plan to drink, buy your beverages at the duty free shops in the airport on the way to your hotel to avoid overpriced fruity drinks.

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you have all had a fantastic week! I had so much fun putting this post together, I almost didn't get it finished! Flip flops and sandals are the best summer/beach accessory and are such a fun addition to any outfit.
