Sweatin' It Saturdays :: Some Ideas!

In the day of Pinterest and Google, there is so many awesome ideas at your fingertips, you really don't have to look far to get inspired. Whether it be for your workout, meals, makeup, outfits, homeschooling... the possibilities are endless.

When I wanted to come up with some new challenges for my workout, I found these 30-Day Challenges. Feel free to Google some of your own, but these can inspire you or get your started. They target specific areas of your body. I taped them up to the living room wall to stare at me all the time :) Can't escape them there!

Makeup Monday :: All Dolled Up

And here is my face with foundation.... covering up the redness and blemishes!

And with this look I decided to get all glammed up! I went all out with this look. It was fun! Definitely not something for every day, but certainly for a nice date night with Mr B!

What I Wore Wednesday :: Mais Oui!

Can an outfit make you feel French? I'm not really sure, but when I really rock it out with a black and white combo, I feel French. I can't help it. They always know just how to stand out in basic classics, and it looks tres chic! I guess this would be my version!

All of these pieces would look fantastic separately as well, which is how you know you've invested in some really great additions to your wardrobe. I'm already thinking of several ways to mix it up!

Foodie Thursday :: Chicken Alfredo (with a twist!)

My sister in law gets the credit for this recipe. She made it the night of Superbowl, and we couldn't get enough of it. We liked it so much, we had to make it again this week!

You start with chicken breasts. Grilled, salt and pepper, you know, just the usual for cooking your chicken.

And in the process of working on that, cook your pasta. I chose penne rigate! Ziti or rigatoni would work too!

Then, you need to cube your chicken. And with 2 tablespoons of flour, you add your first ingredient, the secret to the twist of this chicken alfredo! A packet of ranch seasoning!

With these two dry ingredients, add two cups of milk a little bit at a time to the chicken. I kept mine at about medium high temperature at this point. It should still be bubbling just a bit.

After you feel this has mixed, you need to add your cheese! Shaved parmesan, and you need a cup of it!

Eventually, at this point things are smelling quite delicious and it should look a little like this!

And then you add your chicken!

No licking the screen. ; )

I added a bit more parmesan on the top just to make it fancy and pretty, and then you EAT IT!

We will definitely be adding this recipe to the weekly rotation! Try it and tell me what you think! I know my four year old loved it, and around here, that's like getting confirmation from Food Network!

What I Wore Wednesday :: Tried & True

Was it too chilly for bare legs? Oh, absolutely. But that didn't stop me in the slightest. Let me tell you, these legs are begging for the warmer weather!

I have had this jacket since I worked at Kohl's quite a long time ago. It will stay in my closet till it falls apart. It's amazing! It looks good with everything. You cannot go wrong with a pair of jeans, a skirt, capris, sexy black skinnys... the list goes on. It has just enough detail to draw the eye without being a huge standout that it overwhelms. Every woman needs a jacket she can lean on in her closet like this one!

In the meantime as you hunt one down, we'll wait it out for the warmer weather.... ; )

What I Wore Wednesday :: Feelin' It

AHHHH!!! Can we talk about this weather??? Insanity! I'm seriously trying not to get my hopes up guys, but it's so hard! Weather -> joy -> contagious!

Anyhow, this was a recent outfit I wore. I'm wearing the heck out of these keyhole booties I got from Target. They're so comfy, and they go with everything. It's ridiculous. As for this sweater (also from Target) it's so awesome. I'm feeling it hardcore! So fun to create looks for and to wear!

P.S. Not to make you jealous? but that hot pink necklace is from Fossil? And I totally snagged it for $10.

Up close, you can see this shirt has this pretty lace detail on the top; this shirt is amazing. So many ways to style. I typically don't like the matchy matchy look, but I couldn't resist the awesome bright pink lip to match the necklace! The color was just so fun!

Makeup Monday :: Everyday Look

This is one of my absolute favorite things to do- MAKEUP!!! I'm a product junkie and I just love creating new looks every day! This is just a basic face that I do. It seems like a lot of steps, but I've actually got it down pretty quickly! If you have a question about any of the products I use, let me know in the comments below!

Step 1: Foundation

Step 2: Concealer :: can't see it?? GOOD!

Step 3: Under eye highlighter :: makes a big difference!

Step 4: Bronzer :: still learning the tricks, but it's a great way to contour!

More easily seen in this picture:

I have no definition to my cheeks, and this helps create that hollow!

Step 5: Blush :: on the apples of your cheeks just above the bronzer

Step 6: Brows! A huge huge step! It makes a big difference in the finished look

I never did this before but I've begun in the last year or so because I just love the look of it now!

Step 7: Taupe color on eyelid :: the base of the build up

Step 8: Add depth :: a deeper brown in the crease

Step 9: deepen the color :: adding further darkness to create the shadow in the crease

Step 10: eyeliner :: my favorite!! gotta love a good cat eye! ;)

Step 11: First coat of mascara

Step 12: second coat of mascara!

Completed!!

Sweatin' It Saturdays :: Workin' on My Fitness

Oh good gracious. You know, you look at it in retrospect and you think "man it sure isn't pretty!"

Doesn't every woman have a love/hate/really hate relationship with her body? Story of our lives right? My motto is "I wish I was as fat as I used to think I was..." or, something like that. I look at old pictures of hubs and I when we first got married and I think wow. I sure do like to think my taste in clothes and makeup improved? but dang. I'd like to have that body back. how is it after all this time, and all the things I've learned about diet and exercise and whatnot, I look worse than I have ever??

Life.

It happens. That's why. We get busy. Lazy. Distracted. We get married, graduate college, we HAVE BABIES, and we run a household. it's intense people!

but we can do it. we can find time to make time for ourselves.

Ben and I were going to the gym on a pretty regular basis and we really started to try and pay attention to what we were picking up for groceries and what we were eating all the time. We fell out of the habit pretty quick. But the body clock is ticking! I turn 29 this year and I'm also planning a trip to see people I haven't seen in years. I don't want to look like this. I want to look HAWT! #amiright??

We signed up with Planet Fitness. I honestly love that their slogan is that they're not a gym, they're a no judgment zone. I felt like when I went in for the first time tonight, everyone was just doing their own thing, and no one was worried about me! It doesn't hurt that the whole place is done up in my favorite color. I mean, purple rocks.

First up, get you some awesome kicks folks! These are fantastic. They fit like a glove and they're soooooo comfortable. Very supportive. (listen to me; I sound like I'm 80. Next thing you know I'll be wearing socks with sandals and those old school all white New Balance sneaks. but I digress.)

They do have tanning beds, and they were very nice!

Also have the hydromassage and if you haven't every tried that, it's pretty cool!

Massage chairs! They don't cost extra. They give you a coin to use it so you're not there all day ;)

The showers! They don't have towels so bring your own! They keep it very low key here.

I don't have any pictures of the actual gym because there was quite a few folks in there on a saturday night and it would've looked kind of awkward. but they have everything you could want. they even have a designated stretching area, a spot to do 12 minute abs, and there's an area for a 30 minute circuit. Rows of treadmills and stationary bikes, and huge tvs down the length of the room. Pretty much everything you could want.

I'm looking forward to getting back into it. I think i've already decided I'm just going to have to suck it up and get up and go before work. Thing is, I'm just not willing to sacrifice the time after work. I'd rather be home with my family. And this gym doesn't have a kids place, so hubs and I can't work out together. He's going at lunch and that's not really an option for me. Don't think the pts really wanna smell me ;)

Foodie Thursday - Zesty Italian Chicken with Veggies

Let's talk dinner.

How many times do you feel like you're making the same 4 recipes all the time and you're just running on empty coming up with new meal ideas? Not to mention you have a picky four year old who has verbal opinions about everything you put in front of her??

Yeah, I didn't figure I had anybody on board with that out there.... ;)

Welcome to 2015 and the world of Pinterest. (Check me out!) It's like an entire world's cookbook at your fingertips you can browse in the comfort of your own home in your ratty sweatpants... I'm speculating here. I'm sure, like me, you're in your Sunday best. *ahem* Moving right along!

I found this recipe here. So I'm giving it a whirl.

First off, be sure you start your oven at 375 degrees.

Put your 1 yellow onion in the freezer.

Lay out several large sheets of aluminum foil, large enough to wrap around a chicken breast.

Place one chicken breast on each piece of foil.

Drizzle with a tablespoon olive oil, sprinkle with salt and cracker pepper.

Julienne your 1 red pepper and four small carrots, chop 2 garlic cloves, and thinly slice your frozen onion. Which we all know is frozen because you won't cry when you chop it, right? Ok. Good :)

(and if you're me, and you don't have carrots, you're finding yourself slicing baby carrots in half because you're making do with what you have)

Arrange chopped garlic, slices of onion, peppers and carrots on top and around each chicken breast.

Place a basil leaf on top of each chicken and vegetables.

Spoon 1-2 tablespoons of zesty italian salad dressing over the chicken and vegetables.

This is the first time I've made this but I used 2 tablespoons. I figure it's giving the flavor so it can't hurt to have it there.

Fold the sides of the foil up over the chicken, covering it completely and seal the packets closed.

Transfer to a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes until chicken is cooked through.

Serve!

I'm not gonna lie, what it looks like after it's cooked isn't much different than what it looks like before you wrapped that foil and put it in the oven except for the steam, but it smells like heaven in your house! There's this slightly spicy kick of a scent that tickles your nose. My husband will arrive home any minute from work and I can't wait to see what he thinks!

One of my favorite parts of this meal is that there is very little prep work! There's also not a lengthy bake time, so it can be ready fairly quickly when you get home from work. There's also almost nothing to clean up!

SO I'M BRINGING THE BLOG BACK. Yeah, it's happening. There was a lot of hubs encouragement on the blog front. But if I'm being totally honest with myself (consequently with you as well since I'm spouting off on the internets) I've been thinking of the blog in the back of my mind for quite some time. I get a lot of questions about my clothes and my makeup, things I read or watch, a recipe I've tried. I myself read a great number of blogs and constantly am learning something new. So why am I not sharing what I know? Maybe someone missed my blog. Maybe someone can learn something from me.

There's going to be a new format. :) I think you'll be really excited. I am! Hopefully, you'll become a regular visitor and check things out. I plan to answer questions left in the comments as best I can. So check it out! So happy to have you here with me in my little corner of the cyberspace.
