Today, cars are a necessity not a luxury. Unlike before where only a few can own a car. Owning a car these days is not that hard anymore as long as you have the capacity to pay and submitted all the necessary requirements. Many banks have services like car loan to any individual who wishes to purchase a car or any vehicle they fancy. Just secure all the needed documents, and these documents are assess by banks personnel. Aside from banks there are also quite a number of financial institutions who extends the same services to different clients. Therefore, people have the options where to apply for a car loan.

Choosing a car or vehicle is time consuming especially if you do not have any idea what kind of a car you need. There are some who preferred an SUV while others look for sedan or an all-terrain vehicle or 4x4. One vehicle that caught my attention is the Range Rover Evoque which up to now remains in my list of dream cars. Who knows one day I can have it. There is no wrong in dreaming, after all it is free. My friend teased me to stop dreaming about it, instead she advised me to dream for any type of vehicle other than this. I guess, she really believes it is too impossible.

hubby and I dropped by in a car show near to our residence lately. I found out and realized how people wanted to have a car. Yes, with new technologies a lot of cars were introduced. There are brand new cars which are affordable, and also second hand cars considered as slightly used. For me, brand new cars are pretty good compared to a second hand cars, considering the cost of maintenance. Although, there are second hand cars which are in good condition. For me, even if it is a slightly used vehicle it does not matter. What is important is it serves its purpose in owning a car.

Settling down and deciding where to live after getting married is one issue that most couples are facing. Questions like where to begin, how to move in and how to choose the best place you think is suitable or livable for both of you is quite confusing sometimes. This problem is very common, because of the many places to choose around. Although, taking on that problem and obviously coming up with solutions is what most people do.

Further, not only newly wed couples are facing this kind of problem but, also people who are in retirement age. Unfortunately, there are people who are not ready about this thing. Although, there are also some who does not care about it. Maybe they are contented in the place they live in at the moment and they do not bother anymore to look for another place. There are some who are excited about the changes, like settling in a community and adopting the place, adjusting to new environment and at the same time worried because of the cost it would entail. However, these are all part of a change most people are experiencing when settling down.

My Favorite Pair of Havaianas Slippers

Each of us has our own favorites. Favorite refers to things like clothes, places, food, etc. For me, I have this pair of Havaianas slippers which I frequently wear whenever I go somewhere else, like the beach or in the market. I also wear it occasionally during weekends killing the time or having window shopping around the malls with my little gentlemen. I bought this Havaianas Slippers limited edition 2 years ago at the mall. The sole is color black and the strap is color green with a butterfly (in metal form) attached to each strap. This is my third pair of Havaianas, but I should say this is my favorite these days. I seldom use the two other pairs, I do not know why. Anyway, the picture you see above was taken last Easter Sunday when the family had the chance to go to Mergrande beach resort here in Davao city for lunch after the mass. I find it comfortable to wear and I like the color green. I just thought this slippers deserved to be photograph.

Each of us has each own wants in life. Sometimes these wants became a dream. For me, I dream to have a beautiful house with a bigger lawn fully planted with green grasses and colorful flowers. This dream house also has a swimming pool so that I will no longer go somewhere else, say in the resort to enjoy swimming with my little gentlemen. Today, this remains a dream, I know it will take a long time to realize this dream considering our top priority this time is the education of our three children. Anyway, I am still hoping that one day it will happen, in God's time. If not, then it's fine with me, no problem!

Swimming is fun and I should say my children love it much. During summertime the weather is very hot every body loves to get wet and go swimming. There are many swimming pools of different sizes and designs to choose from and to have fun together with the whole family. My first consideration as a mom when selecting for the best swimming pool is cleanliness. When I say cleanliness it should be free from dirt and any other floating objects. The floor tiles should also be clean and no stains.

When my children likes to go swimming I usually bring them to the place they go frequently. Although this place has a not so big swimming pool but I am confident my children are safe. The owner of the resort is so accommodating and very meticulous, she make sure everything is clean. Safety of her clients is also on top of her priority. When I was a little girl I used to play in the ground fully planted with Bermuda grass near our home. That place was beside the church and there was a plant that bear flowers. This flower is called Kalachuchi and it has a scientific name of Plumeria acuminata known as temple flowers or graveyard flowers. The tree which bears this flower has a dark green and oblong shaped leaves. The color of the petals are white and it has a yellow tint at the center of it. The fragrant of this flower is addicting for me in fact I love smelling it. When I was a child I remember making floral bracelets, necklaces and anklets out from this flower with my playmates. I love this flower and this is one of my favorites among many kinds of flowers found in the Philippines.

Do you like running? Or does you run in a gym class? Or any races? I am not getting obsessed with running nor feel bad if I haven’t gone out during weekends for a fun run. I know that joining marathons needs time and practice or training, but I do not have the pleasure to do it. I do not run every day and yet I can still run and join marathons (Fun Run) on weekends if I like. If I feel strongly getting out in a day and I think I need to sweat, I go to the gym for cardio exercise, yoga, dance, etc. Somehow it serves as my training ground in joining marathons or fun run events. See? I can still do sport and doing an activity every day not just running.

Why run?

Running is a challenging exercise. One of the toughest aspects of a run is the mental tenacity which requires you to keep on running during the race even if your legs gets tired. I am running to support a good cause and for myself to be fit. I believed running are a good exercise, a physical activity that anybody can get into unless if you are physically unable. What struck me most in running is speed and endurance. Although, I am not running to win the race. In my age, I do not run to become the best runner. Some maybe would like to win the race because of the price and fame, and some would run to have fun. But sorry guys if I will say this: I don’t think running is fun if you feel tired and get sore all the time. Anyway, whatever you're reasons are for joining fun run or marathon are highly accepted. Anybody can join a run and marathon. But All I am certain of is that we support one good reason and that is running for a good cause.

Problems

Joining fun run or marathon is not easy. I encountered some problems similar to what other are experiencing during the run. When I run, breathing is my main problem. I know very well through my own readings that proper breathing techniques are one important aspect to running. According to experts practicing the proper breathing techniques while running can help runner to succeed and have more energy when running. So, I began researching breathing techniques in running.

Breathing technique

A breathing ratio of 3:2, it helps oxygen supply in the body. Meaning in the first three steps you inhale, and exhale in the next 2 steps. Although, this is commonly used in a light jog but if running fast your body may switch to 2:1 ratio meaning, for every 2 steps of inhaling you exhale in one step. There are other breathing techniques in running but, I adopted this technique. Because, I can easily adapt to this breathing techniques while running. However, slow down or walk if you’re running out of breath, relax and slow the pace, breathing problems will often take care of them.

Pushing myself

Pushing myself When I run I am pushing myself 100%. Although, I cannot deny that I cannot complete the long run without stopping for a walk for a few seconds, at some point when feeling like a drop dead. But I always tell myself to complete the race. I should have to decide a 100% to get through the race. My longest run so far is 10km. I did not train, but I am not a lazy runner though. I am always trying to tell myself to push hard during my running sessions.

When I was new to running, endurance is what I need, so I need to run a pace comfortable for me. To achieve that distance the slower the better. I enjoy running these days; I want to get the best of my running and be able to support a good cause. To be able to figure out my limits, and to know what my body can do, makes me feel happy and satisfied. Some say it is too late to run but, I don’t think so. Because, I proved it, I started running at 4k followed by 5k and then increased it to 8k, and the longest is the 10k run. I was able to reached the finish line for all these events. Wow! It was a great achievement for me. My friend challenged me for 15k, or 17k, but I know myself very well. I don’t think I am capable to run this far now. If given proper training and practice, maybe, why not? There’s no harm in trying.

Speed, endurance, and strength are what you need while running. How to push yourself when running? I have gathered some useful tips below.

1. Visualize the finish line, and push through until you got there.

2. train and run more during the week, to make your body become familiar to running and prepare your muscles to push through during the run.

3. Incorporate leg workouts into your gym routine. Lifting weights can increase your ability to push yourself during the run.

4. Use any frustration as a tool to push yourself during a run.

5. Ask a family and friends who are also into running for suggestions, and techniques.

Most importantly, remember we are running for a good cause. Listen to what your body is telling, if you feel pain and need to ease up, remember being determined and stubborn is totally a different thing.

In a private Facebook group, I noticed a lot of people were looking for a tech person to work with. So, I introduced myself. Upon returning to check on the status, I saw a post at the very top of the wall from a guy who also introduced himself as a coder. Now, I'm not that naive to think I am the only geek in a group. There are probably many people better at tech than me in any group. What gave me pause was, why this guy's introduction got so many responses when mine hardly went noticed. A horrifying thought flashed through my mind. It couldn't be true. Did he get more attention because he's… a man? Maybe you have experienced something similar. Something that made you stop to wonder if you didn't win the bid, secure that client or get that exposure because you are a woman. Then, you look around and it looks like all the top dogs are men. Of course it depends on the industry you are in but I'm here to tell you, even in seemingly male-centric arenas, there are plenty of women quietly making serious coin. Sometimes, we aren't seeing the ladies because women simply aren't vocal about their successes. And, when we toot our own horn, we often express it in an entirely different manner. For us, being able to support our families and being there when the kids get off the bus mean a whole lot more than 'crushing it' or making a million dollars in 24 hours. I'm not saying women don't strive for that. I'd love to make that kind of money any day. It's just, our goals are often more immediate and realistic. That is why it's always refreshing to hear stories about real women and how they broke through the barriers. I never had a chance to see personally a hanging bridge ever since. Although I have read in books and magazines and even heard from many people about it, their unforgettable experiences as first timers. I perceived hanging bridges to be dangerous to human due to the materials being used. I mean, comparing it to modern bridges which are strongly built and used solid materials that will last longer. As the years passed, I understand there are places that builds hanging bridges purposely for tourist or as a main attraction in the area to promote tourism.

Recently, after a busy Saturday morning hubby and I went to a place called D'Leonor Adventure Park and Mountain Resort located at Cabantian, Buhangin, Davao City. It took us more than an hour before we reached the place, certainly because the area was unfamiliar to us. We've never been there. We took the initiative of asking the neighborhood and passersby until we reach our destination.

Mainly our purpose in going there is to familiarize the place, learn about the fees, and to have an idea what to expect inside. I never thought that there was a hanging bridge inside. I excitedly posed for a souvenir picture on the above hanging bridge thrice, but, I don't really have the nerve to cross. I tried but after a few steps I remained standing. I could not understand the feeling it was mixed emotion. I hold both sides of it while trying to step forward slowly and when the bridge started to swing a bit, wow! I panicked... And then when I looked at below I realized I was afraid. Anyway, I am planning to get back there any time soon together with our three gentlemen. I hope they can convince me to cross and take away my fear.

Imagine a home or an office without a chair I am pretty sure no one ever likes it. Chair has always been a part of any homes and today because of the many changes in the world we live a lot of inventions and designs came out. Many designers surface introducing their own unique designs which caters to everybody's preference. Joining Fun Run events became one of my interests these days. So far I have joined four (4) supposed to be 6 all in all. But, due to some unavoidable circumstances there were two (2) scheduled Fun Run activities which I was not able to attend. Yes, Davao City became the running capital of the Philippines (correct me if I am wrong) today. Fun Run activities are scheduled mostly during weekends and I find it interesting though. Why? because I am not only running to be physically fit but I am running for a good cause as well. I am also choosy when it comes to beneficiaries...I usually go for the beneficiary which I think deserves most. My previous runs were limited to 4k and 5k. Recently, I have tried to run for 8K. I had no idea where the route is...but, during the actual race I never thought it was. Looking back in my previous runs the route were just easy no ups and downs, the road where I used to passed by every day. In my recent 8k race I can say it was really different from the other race I have joined so far, Although I felt tired along the way but I managed to finish the race. It was a different feeling after all... Most especially when I reached the finish line and someone handed to me my finishers medal and race bag. I am so thankful also for the experience to run that day for the benefit of the street children of Davao city, the main beneficiary of that activity. Probably, that will be my last run this year and hopefully I can join more Fun Run next year as my way of helping and donating to charities.

Public toilets are generally divided by gender but there are also few public toilets that are unisex. Toilet is also commonly known as comfort room, bathroom, restroom, powder room, and washroom which are free of use or with a minimal fee. This kind of facility is made available in any business establishments to cater customers or generally known as the "public". Most of the comfort rooms in the malls have staff or attendants; this is so to maintain cleanliness... In some places there are also other public toilets that imposed a minimal fee. Imagine a public toilet without an attendant? Isn’t it awful? I've gone through a public toilet without a staff and paid two pesos, when I entered the room I almost back off due to unpleasant odor. Tissues are scattered on the floor. But because you feel the call of nature which seems to be uncontrollable anymore then you have no choice.

I have entered quite a number of comfort rooms (public toilets) and recently I accidentally entered into a room at Abreeza mall which was totally different from the one I saw before. I was wondering a few moments if it really was a comfort room or an office because there was a couch on the other side which serves as the waiting area. When I confronted the girl seated in front of the room she confirmed to me it is a CR and you have to pay ten pesos (P10.00) per use. But, if you a receipt worth (P200) two hundred pesos in any of the stores inside then you are free to use it. I knew then that I have entered the wrong direction, but curious though. I know very well that there is a free comfort room at Abreeza, but since I was already there so I decided to explore what's inside... why the management is charging ten pesos per use. Obviously I was curious; I wanted to know what is inside.

Well, it's worth it! The attendants were so friendly and welcomed me with a smile. The place is very clean, lights are perfect, mirrors are so clear and the entire place smells so good. One of the best toilets I have entered so far among malls here in our place. Although ten pesos is ten pesos but comparing it to other comfort rooms in there which are full of users I might say you have no inhibitions there. You can freely use it without thinking of somebody waiting outside your door. This may sound "Baduy" but I forgot to take pictures of me while inside. I could have asked the assistance of one of the attendants but I forgot the camera that it was in my bag that time. I thought I had left it with my son who was patiently waiting for me outside.

I wanted to go back inside just to take pictures my golly my son laughed at me. I felt ashamed, LOL! Well, I was mesmerized by the look or the interior side of it, very clean and organized I told my son and he just shrugged his shoulders....Huh! I am curious again what my son think of her mother that time...and I did not bothered to ask him though. I am a kind of person who easily appreciates things especially if it catches my attention and gave me comfort. It was just one of the things that I appreciated most that day. No regrets for paying ten pesos...

According to experts running is very good and provides great cardiovascular workout. Running strengthens and tones your muscles as well. It is also a great workout for people who really want to loose weight and to get fit. Jogging regularly is also another way to enhance your health and fitness, it also helps in loosing weight.

Lately, I became interested in running and joining "Fun Run" events for a good cause. I am not only helping myself to stay fit but helping other groups with good intentions as well. So far I have joined two events the 35th Milo National Marathon and the first Kapamilya Run for the benefit of Matina Pangi River and Bantay Bata. I know running a 5K category is something for a first timer like me. But, exercising regularly is a big factor I guess for finishing the race.

Yes, another reason in joining fun run is for me to loose weight. Obviously I still need to shed some extra pounds which I did not get from a regular exercise...and running I believed will contribute to it. This month I have two 5k Runs in my list and coming December I still have to choose the fun run event I will be joining. I am also choosy when it comes to beneficiaries which I think are the most deserving.

I know running a 5K category is somehow tiring especially if you don't have any training. But, being a health conscious individual nowadays and exercising regularly at the gym helped me to become a finisher and sustained the race. Hopefully, I will increase my running activity to 8k next year...God bless me!

When I was in grades 5 and 6 I developed an interest in running and I had competed in 100,200 meter dash and 400 meter relay. It was a great experience for me considering I like what I did. Even until now I still like to run and lately I joined Fun Run here in our City. The latest Fun Run event I have joined was last Sunday in the 35th Milo National Marathon. The race started at 5:30 am for 5K run and I am proud to say that I finished the race in 31minutes and 26 sec. Joining an event like this is one way to keep healthy and strong, in my age I don't want to refrain myself from this kind of activity. I know I can still do it...Helping and contributing something to identified charities and projects through fun run inspires me. God willing I know there will be more fun run I will be joining in the coming days.
