WP Greet Box is an amazing plugin developed by Thaya Kareeson.

The plugin basically allows you to greet visitors who come to your blog from specific sources with a custom welcome message. You can customize your welcome message and add new referral sources as well.

I’m running this plugin on a product site of mine and I hope that it helps in increasing sales of the product.

Some of the better features of this plugin are -

• Show a different greeting message to your visitor depending on the referrer URL. You can add/edit/delete/disable these greeting messages as you choose.
• Greeting messages automatically get inserted into the top of your posts upon activation. There is no need to modify theme files.

Whether you work from home or commute to your work place maximizing the amount of time you spend working is probably the number one item fixed on your mind. The need to do more has been slowly ingrained into modern day society so much that people need to take drugs just so that they can relax. Thankfully, I’m not on any.

I’ve tried various combination’s of implementing work schedules from starting out with getting the most menial tasks done first to reading all my favorite online publications before I do anything at all. Over a period of time I’ve realized that it’s next to impossible to keep a strict regimen, in fact I’ve experienced that I tend to get more done if I switch things around every now and then.

Switch schedules to stay interested

Making a big switch in your life is hard for anybody to do, like moving states or countries. But making small changes like working out in the evening instead of the morning is a small switch that anyone can make.

For example, I used to work out everyday around noon, before lunch (working from home provides me this luxury) and got in pretty good shape after doing it for a month or two. Then I slowly started missing out on my daily sessions. So now I regularly switch my work out times every week just to keep me interested in doing them. This has actually worked better for me than always doing the same exact thing at the same exact time day in and day out.

My physical fitness has improved greatly because of this. Applying the same example to my work regimen has helped me stay focused as well. Sometimes I answer emails first thing in the morning for a week and then shift around to answering them only after I’ve done my most important task first.

You need more than motivation

Motivation is a key driver in getting something started, but the main element that will keep you going is variety.

You need have to change things around if you want to constantly keep yourself in the loop of your initial momentum. Granted, there are some jobs that require you to work in sequential order and there is no changing that. However, you can change what you do before you start working. Instead of drinking the same cup of coffee every morning try black tea instead? Take a different route to work or make yourself a breakfast fit for a King, or Queen!

Adding variety in your everyday life will help you work better and faster. I’ve done things like that this past year to help me maximize the amount of time I spend working. You don’t have to switch schedules around every week, but do so whenever you feel like you are losing the motivation and the interest you had at the beginning of anything you started.

Falong Holdings Ltd will become the legal owner of these domain names in the world.

Also, don’t worry because your domains names are COMPLETELY safe. My best advice would be to immediately call your domain registrar and let them know about these sorts of scams, if you ever receive them, and forward them copies of the email.

It’s 2009 and if you have less than 5 web profiles you’re not a proper web citizen. At last count, I had somewhere north of a dozen, which can get overwhelming as a signature in your email or pretty lengthty in your “about” page.

There are many aggregators out there that let you log into your profiles from one central location. Though, I would not trust my login information with any such service, some people do find it useful. SmartProfile is one such new service, but rather than ask you for your login information it just asks for your profile usernames.

I’ve made one of my own here.

The sign up is pretty straight forward and you specify the profiles you have at the time of sign up. As of now the site only supports 8 social websites, you can request them to add more. The one thing that I think will hinder the wide adoption of SmartProfile is that they “reserve full rights to place any kinds of advertising on your SmartProfile page”. This might be OK for a LinkedIn, MySpace or Facebook but if you’re just starting out I would suggest you lay off the the CPC ads and work on getting a user base first.

In 2009, user base is everything.

The main features of SmarProfile are -

1. A universal URL for all your profiles. Several choices from .Com, .Org, .Me, .Name, .Info, .Us…
2. Bring all your profiles to your blog or website through their widget.

I think the service has it’s uses, could use some design and usability enhancements, I don’t think it will hurt to reserve your username just in case

Weborithm, my main web company, has just soft launched Tweetburn. The main purpose of Tweetburn is to be a Twitter tools junction, the first tool is TweetRoll.

What is TweetRoll?

Well, if you take a look at my sidebar you will see what it looks like. Basically, it’s a widget that you can place on your blog or website to show the number of Twitter followers you have, how many you follow and show the 9 latest Twitter folk you are following. Like a MyBlogLog of twitter followers for comparison purposes.

Simply enter your username in the field provided on the site and you will get a snippet of JavaScript code. Place that on your site or blog and you should be good to go.

At this point of time it’s very early stages, but we do have a few things like color customizations planned. But, I would love to see the widget on your blog and I’m sure you would love to see an increase in your twitter followers

YouLiveSee is an interactive portal where you can create your own webcam portal. Basically what the site allows you to do is to set up a channel to broadcast yourself via your webcam.

From the outset the site looks very bare and offers little in terms of features. Maybe that was the intention of the owners of the site? If they want to be able to compete with similar services that are being offered right now they have a lot of work to be done.

First of all a better layout would not hurt. Social bookmarking features, a more interactive call to sign up for their service by showcasing the benefits right away would immensely help as well. The member profile pages could use a face lift as well.

I registered on the site to check out how it works. Basically you create a channel/topic of your choosing and decide if you want to just let certain users or everyone see and/or hear you. Or you can just have them see/hear you. Like any normal webcast. You can also make it public or private.

Quite a few services like YouLiveSee have cropped up on the web, most of which are successful. If they want to be able to make a difference in their service I suggest a serious overhaul in their website structure. The developers of this site have a good product, they just need to give it the “oomph” factor.

I find myself increasingly on reddit nowadays rather than digg. It’s not uncommon to find articles that I found on reddit over 2 days ago just becoming popular on digg. So that’s why I switched, plus the comments are just so much better. Be warned though there is a lot of NSFW content that gets linked to on reddit, it’s marked most of the time as that but you never know what you’re gonna get.

Apart from that I’m on Twitter a lot as well. I don’t tweet as much as the other people I follow but I tend to follow links that show up and most of the time it’s interesting stuff.

The rest of my social time is spent on facebook, IM and email. Naturally the bulk of my time is spent working with my sites online, and designing for others, but a guy’s gotta have a break. Y’know what I mean?
