Here is some code to get all the photos from an Outlook 2003 address book and dump it in a folder. Just stick it in a Macro in Outlook and run -- though you may get some errors if you have other types of attachments in your Contacts and may have to handle those exceptions:

Sub GetPix()
Dim myNamespace As Outlook.NameSpace
Dim itemContact As ContactItem
Dim fdrContacts As MAPIFolder
Dim colAttachments As Outlook.Items
Dim colItems As Outlook.Items
Dim myProperty As Outlook.UserProperty
Dim fname As String

Set myNamespace = Outlook.GetNamespace("MAPI")
Set fdrContacts = myNamespace.GetDefaultFolder(olFolderContacts)

For itemCounter = 1 To fdrContacts.Items.Count

    Set itemContact = fdrContacts.Items(itemCounter)
    Set collAttachments = itemContact.Attachments

     For Each atAttachment In collAttachments

        If atAttachment.FileName = "ContactPicture.jpg" Then

            fname = Replace(Replace(Replace(Replace(Replace((itemContact.FirstName & itemContact.LastName & "-" & atAttachment.FileName), ":", "-"), "\", ""), "/", ""), "?", ""), Chr(34), "")

            fname = Replace(Replace(Replace(Replace(Replace(Replace(fname, "", ""), Chr(11), ""), "*", ""), "|", ""), "(", "")

            fname = Replace(Replace(Replace(fname, ")", ""), Chr(12), ""), Chr(15), "")

            atAttachment.SaveAsFile ("c:\AA-Exporting\" & fname)

        End If

    Next

Next

End Sub

Hi there. I love robocopy, i have since i found it on sys internals. I first used it when i was tasked with copying a 200gb SQL server database over to another server, Robocopy was perfect because of the verified copies! I was delighted when it was included in windows 7 and over the moon when i heard it was multithreaded. One quibble i have is that the feedback when running MT isnt great. It IS actually copying everything over, so, if running /MT:4, it is copying the 4 files, it just doesnt tell you about them on the command line. This confused me to begin with, but who cares, as long as it copies!

Question: I understand that syncing files would probably require the computer(s) to be on...but does the remote access feature also require the remote computer to be on all the time as well?

I couldn't agree more. I only posted because someone asked me how to enable it. This should only be done if absolutely needed, and not on a large scale for sure!

Although this procedure works for allowing admin shares, it is not secure. Admin shares are supposed to allow access to administrators of the domain or local machine. This configuration as explained here allows everyone and anyone to access the shares.

Great script! I did quite a bit of searching for a script to do just that. It works perfectly. It's quicker that the nbtstat command which needs the messenger service to be running and its also quicker than psloggedon which needs to be run from the command prompt.

Thanks Dan.
