Everyday Realistic Savings

2011-09-16T14:18:00.000-05:00

I've been out of commission for almost 2 weeks now. I had the worst lower back pain EVER!! I've had back pain every since I had my daughter 14 months ago. Usually I am able to manage the pain without any medication. A few simple stretches and I'm usually fine. However, these last two weeks, I could not even walk, move or even sit comfortably. Its awful..

Therefore, I have unable to coupon at all.. I feel as though I don't know what I'm doing anymore.. Hopefully everything will get back to normal soon and I'll be able to stop sending my husband to do the "get through the next few days shopping trip"

I just want to be able to pick up my daughter, take care my husband, clean my house properly.. (not that my husband isn't doing a great job at picking up my slack.. ) its just different when someone does it for you. My husband, Matt, has been great.. although I can tell that he wishes nothing more than for things to get back to normal... where hes not responsible for everything.. But any who, in the mean time .. I am sleeping more.. I just Pray that things will get back to normal soon..

Super Simple Meatloaf Recipe

2011-09-03T15:45:00.001-05:00

Super Simple Meatloaf Recipe

This is a super simple recipe for meatloaf.

I wish I could remember who gave me this easy and delicious recipe!!

Ingredients:

1 lb of ground beef

1 egg

1/2 an onion, chopped

1 Cup of milk

1 Cup of dried bread crumbs

*Salt, Pepper and Cayenne Pepper

2 Tbs of brown sugar

2 Tbs of mustard, prepared

1/3 Cup of Ketchup

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

2. Combine the beef, chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs and milk together. Season with salt and pepper to taste. I like to add * cayenne pepper to add some spice to it, however this is optional.

3. In a separate bowl combine the mustard, brown sugar and ketchup

Mix well.

4. Either use a loaf pan or a 9 X 13 baking pan, form the meat mixture into a loaf form.

Add the mustard, brown sugar, ketchup mixutre on top of the meat mixture, cover the top.

5. Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hr.

Enjoy!

* My husband really likes this recipe, he says it combines a little bit of sweetness and spicy into deliciousness.

As you may already know, TLC has a show called Extreme Couponing. This show showcases many couponers that achieve purchasing hundreds of dollars worth of groceries for mere dollars, sometimes even free with the use of Coupons.

Full disclosure
I was one of the many New Couponers that jumped on the bandwagon after watching this show. I would like to point out that I had already started using Coupons prior to this BUT I didn't know how to combine them with sales to maximize savings. The first show that I saw was the one with Tiffany from Mylitter.com. I was excited about how she was able to see a sales ad and figure out which coupons to use. Any who, this show allowed me to see the big picture..

I can combine coupons with sales and lower my grocery bill!!

So here I am, still couponing, still learning.. still excited for sales! I do have to admit that I have been discouraged by this negative stigma that follows couponers... and so I return to my original thought .. TLC's Extreme Couponing..

From my limited experience in couponing, I have learned a few things that I wish some of these "experienced" extreme couponers displayed.. Courtesy, Honesty, Sharing, and Compassion. I think that everyone no matter who they are, should have these qualities and display them more often. Now, I cannot be totally negative on this show .. it was after all the last push that I needed in order to coupon more frequently. I do think that it displays a side of couponing that many couponers frown upon. Shelve Clearing, No Compassion for anyone but themselves, lack of Honesty and simply no Courtesy. No one NEEDS to have 40 bottles of mustard, I'm sorry unless you are feeding a family of 30 who loves mustard.. you don't need that many. .. of course these are my thoughts and opinions and everyone is entitled to theirs as well..

Here is an article written by EW.com that has been floating around the Internet and on many coupon blogging sites. It is a small clip of the Next season of Extreme Couponing. I watched the video and it absolutely made me sick.. I just don't understand how some people can act and do the things that they do. Ultimately, everyone will have an opinion on this show..

If you are new to couponing, as I am, or looking to start couponing.. I just have a few things to say... Couponing is so exciting.. when done the correct way, you are able to save your family sooo much money. The rush that you get when you see your grocery bill slashed in half is fantastic. I ask only that you follow the rules, do not clear shelves, coupon correctly and honestly and finally enjoy all the savings that will come your way!
