I don’t know anything abuot this video, aside from the fact that it’s great. Supposedly it’s a Spike Jonze production. Can’t say I disagree, it very much looks like one. Much like Kanye’s last album, the video walks a fine line between melodramatic and brilliant, however this time I think it lands on the brilliant side. I’d love to know more about the production. It looks to be shot on a Canon 5Dm2 or something similar, a format that has a very unique quality to it and is becoming more and more familiar. Okay nerd talk complete. Go watch the video!

Like it or not, Mr Tastees has been doing some really cool stuff in Chicago of late, and the pop up jam parties thrown alongside Kid Static are no exception. I stopped by the most recent installment this past weekend in the Home Depot parking lot and was amazed by some of the moves those breakdancers were throwing down. Check out the video above by Nick B. Very well done!

Lincoln Hall (2424 N Lincoln – website) is a brand spankin’ new venue opening up in Lincoln Park near Depaul. From the owners of Schubas, this is a very fancy mid-sized venue which is going to be a great option for bands touring thru Chicago. They are kicking things off this week, but the official Grand Opening bash is going down on Sunday, October 25th with none other than Ted Leo and the Pharmacists performing, with The Jai-Alai Savant in support! It’s sure to be a fantastic time. Luckily for you guys, we are giving out tickets to this show and a handful of others! Tastee’s & Kid Static are back with Pop Up Jam part 2. This time they are including a breakdance contest with a cash prize, along with the usual music and mayhem. The event is Friday, October 16th and it’s going down outside the Home Depot on North Ave, I believe, but you should rsvp to make sure you get the proper info. Check the video for more details!

September 24, 2009 | Manor: I’ve been hella busy since I’ve returned home from my month-long journey, so getting out and shooting any nightlife photos has been next to impossible. Aside from a few DJ gigs & Bears games, I haven’t really set foot in a bar or club for a while. It’s been very good for my liver, I must say. Akira had me come out to Manor and shoot their little fashion show. The photos are far from my best–crappy lighting, lack of sleep and too many drinks given to my by Tyler Curtis are all factors Excuses aside, click here to see them all…
