Laser car wash

Can anyone share info regarding laser auto wash facilities??? I recently traded from an "05 E class" to an 2011 E class and the owners manual states not to use the laser car wash,....I never experienced any problems and my "05" always looked fantastic during the winters here in Ohio,.....any information regarding my concern would be greatly appreciated,...

1980 450 sl running hot

My 1980 450 sl runs hot in warmer weather and when idling at lights. If I am in rush hour traffic, the car will get warm, and the idle will start to sputter causing stall out. I changed the clutch fan and flushed the coolant. Any suggestions?

MB car show judging guidelines: What do they look for and look at?

Hi everybody, I need a little advice and/or information on "standards of mintness". I'm going to my first concours event in Boston to show my 560sel and was curious about it's chances of scoring well. I purchased my 560 from an elderly gentleman who has been it's owner for the last 19 years. This gentleman was a friend of the original owner and purchased it from him in 1992 with 26k on it, I've since purchased it and it now has 77k on the o.d. This car was in need of a good cleaning with some mild cosmetic restoration (chrome,trim,ect) all of which I've done, and now to me she seems to be her beautiful self again. The car is spotless inside and out, everthing is there, everything works like new and it's all original. With the exception of the windshield, the automatic Hirschman power antenna (it had a manual antenna) and the new continental tires, the car is all factory original. Should I still be worried, cause I am?

I'd really like for my 560sel to get a little trophy, but I'll have fun anyway :) If anyone is interested in going, let me know and I'll give you all the information. There will be a 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in 11 classes and a 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th best in show.

Well it finally happened. My transmission died in my 95' S320. It was funny when went to Walgreen's to buy some greeting cards. When I got back and tried to reverse, the car just won't move. I tried going forward and it was fine. So I had to drive the car for a days with no reverse gear.... kind of a strange feeling.

I was going to just sell it but i did not have the heart to. So I am putting in a rebuilt transmission and that should do the trick.

Mercedes-Benz developing 100% electric car

We have recently learned, from a source close to Mercedes Benz and its Research Center in Stuttgart, that the Daimler AG is working on a vehicle “which will revolutionize the luxury auto market,” as they put it. The “revolutionary” vehicle will be an all electric mid-size to large luxury vehicle, and will feature alithium-ion battery that can be recharged two ways. The first option will be with a direct plug-in, and the other option will be a small dynamo like device that will charge the battery while the car is driving. In current tests, the battery was able to get 170 km (approx 105 miles) before it had to be charged again, which means that the dynamo itself can only partially recharge the battery.

It’s still not fully know which vehicle might get this technology, but if we look at some of the most recent developments, we can probably find the one that will most like be released with a electric motor. In a post we wrote in late February, we reported that Mercedes has acquired 25 patents for a lithium-ion technology to be used in the S 400 BlueHYBRID beginning next year. We also reported a couple of time on the GLK and its Hybrid intentions. If we were to throw out a educated guess here, we would probably say that the S-Class and the GLK, maybe even ML, will be the first “luxury’ all electric powered vehicles in the market.

Here is the most important questions for consumers. When will it come out? According to our source, a fully electric powered vehicle from Mercedes will come in the form of a new model/generation vehicle. If our prediction is right, and it is the S-Class, then we can expect the EV sometime in 2011 or possibly even as early as 2010, as that is when a new model is scheduled.

Water Pump installation for W140 S320

Maybe this helps already a bit. If I remember well, waterpump is mounted from the side. Tensioner comes off with three bolts and you need to loosen the shock absorber on one side for this.

Let me start by saying that my name is CaSandra. Recently I've found myself a little discouraged by the situation i'm now stuck in. At 26 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to undergo two breast surgeries, chemo and radiation that I was told might leave me sterile. After getting well I found myself stuck of course with all the bills it takes to try and get well. I got through it and of course my car broke down as life continues things will happen when it rains it pours. I decided that I would no longer dump money into a car that honestly was beyond repairs. I saved money so that I could invest in a more realiable car or so I was told. I went to a dealer and bought what I thought would be my dream car a 1999 black merecedes c230 compressor the car was beautiful. Weiry of the year of the car I was convinced that I would absolutely need a warranty and so I purchased one and the car was mine. I than loved my decision and was sure that this car would not leave me on the side of the road. To my surprise not but three months later the problems began to occur which lead me to find out that the warranty the dealer had sold me the company went out of buisness and my two thousand dollar 24 month warranty was no longer. I contacted the dealer and they basically said I was beat and so repairs came out of pocket. Two weeks after that I found myself stuck again being that this dream car of mine needed the shop once again. I have now found out that the car needs 8000 dollars worth of stuff and honestly thats more than i paid to begin with. I want to know if anyone has any ideas on what I can do because although this has been a very unlucky scenario god has allowed me to become pregnant and I need help finding the best solution. When I went to mercedes of course they just want me to trade my car and step into one of theirs only I'm having trouble understanding why they would want toput me in later year models when they specifically told me older models have more shop appearances. Please help me honestly any suggestions would be greatly appreciated I understand its a 1999 but this car is only six months old to me and its honestly the nicest car Ive had and I know there has to be a solution other than listening to another car dealer scam me into all my money once again. Heater Blower motor for a 190 SL

I bought it for my SL then when I started working on the unit realized there was simply a wiring problem, which fixed the original So now I am stuck with this one that cost me $600.00! I have checked it, both blower speeds work just fine. It is a Behr model in excellent condition. Asking what I got in it or best offer.

The last of the battleship Benzes are now 10-12 years old and have depreciated to the point of easily affordable to purchase. The latest reincarnation doesn't send thrills down most people's spines as did the old twin sixes. Any thoughts out there on the practicality (or lack thereof) of buying such a vintage car with the prospect of high age and wear related issues with which to contend? Some people still swear by them, while others swear at them. Given the state of the auto industry today, will there be future collector status associated with these cars?

Head Gasket repair for $20 parts and labor.

I just wanted to let everyone know something. My S320 got a blown head gasket but I did not know at first. The coolant was pouring out of the reserve tank when I switched off and sometimes while driving. I was told to burp the cooling system and It worked.... for a while. Then it started up again. This time I saw oil in the coolant. Another mech said it was the head gasket. He also said it will cost me about $2,000 to put in. I was praying for a miracle (really) and then I saw this

- K & W NanoTechnology Permanent Head Gasket and Block Repair for $20. To my surprise and an answer to my prayer, it worked. So it has been a week now. I will keep you posted as to how long it will last.

I know, I know I should change the gasket but this will buy me some time. I wonder if i can change it myself?

I have a chance to buy a 1992 190E 2.6L automatic....price is only $2900 USD, yes that's $2..9..0..0!!..brand new inspection...new exhaust up to converter...rebuilt transmission....dirty...some surface rust on body...drives very well...strong acceleration...back doors stuck...back windows will not open...cannot tilt drivers seatbut OK position for me...used dealer has had 2 years. Sound OK?

When I purchased my first Mercedes, a new 1984 300SD, in Lapis Blue...The sales representative, was very sincere in thanking me for my business. I had been a GM owner, from my 16th birthday, and never had been treated so well, and rec'd such awesome service. I' in turn thanked him for his assistance, and professionalism, in my purchase, of the 300SD. He very nicely stated, that I had not just purchased a car, but that I had created a 'long-term relationship', with automobile, and dealership. He was absolutly correct...It has been a fantastic ride, which I hope to continue for many more years. I'm currently watching out, for a pristine, well optioned, and documented 1991 560SEC. Just a note, to those of you, who also enjoy collecting Mercedes literature, I'm in the process of downsizing my collection, and parting with 'doubles'. I am Not a literature dealer, just a lover of all things Mercedes...I have Mercedes literature, from 1970 thru 2005, including some commercial, and some in german. I'm parting with it at very modest prices, as anyone who has puechased from me, can attest. At the same time, I am looking for a set of 2002 Silver Arrow wheels, for my SL500...If anyone, can assist me in my search, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for dropping by, Dennis

I ordered my new brake pads today for less

I needed new brakes so I went to the dealer in NY. They told me $80 for the front and $99 for the back. I wanted to find out if my mechanic had gotten them as yet and he said no. So I looked on one of the ads of this website and got them on parts train for $36. How cool is that. When they arrive in the mail I am install them, I will let everyone know how they work.
