I personally was going to hold up the Nexus 6 but then I got cold feet and decided to pull the trigger on this phone and have not been disappointed. So far the battery is definitely the most impressive feature. Basically the Nexus and the Turbo are basically the same they have the same processor the Nexus has the ISO camera clocking in at 13 megapixels and the turbo has a 20 megapixel camera with no ISO however coming from a G2 the pictures are definitely fine and dandy. The screen is extremely awesome except that YouTube for some god awful reason doesn't have 1440p or 1080p support which is super annoying. Another thing that I would like to point out about the turbo is it the battery literally is incredible I would definitely consider myself a power user in this phone easily and I mean easily last a day and a half to two days there have been several times where I fell asleep without charging my phone woke up with 20 percent and it got me through about 10 hours or so but that's with me probably only being on it for about an hour but even still that's impressive. The battery is good now so we can only imagine what kind of improvements will see when lollipop rolls out which I'm hoping will be soon the camera should also improve with that considering google rolling out their new API for photography. Overall I'd say that between the Nexus and the turbo its more of just if you want a 6 screen or 5.2 inch screen. If you have any questions or concerns please feel add comment on this post and I will get back to you soon as possible thank you for reading

This is a link to an album someone leaked today. The device itself doesn't look very impressive. The bezels are bigger than the S4, although the screen is bigger. A 2800mah battery with a rumored 2K screen is going to be a battery killer. The LG G2, came out 6 months ago and has a bigger battery than that, come on Samsung. I fear Samsung is falling into the same boat as Apple. Small subtle improvements each year, knowing that people will buy it because its "The Galaxy S5". I don't want that. I want something I pull out of my pocket, and people say "wow what's that!!!" Not, oh you have a galaxy? We're entering a time where phone manufacturers are all trying to make the next new fad (watches, fitbits, glasses) and unfortunately I don't see this being one of them, even though it will be. comment below on what you think about the S5!

I'm here too tell you, buy an iPhone 5C. Just kidding. Don't waste your money on Apple garbage that's 3 years behind every android device on the planet. I suggest to everyone, to wait for the Nexus 5 to come out in the next few months, and let me give you a few reasons why.

1. PRICE (pretty obvious)

The beautiful thing about buying Nexus devices, is you are getting top of the line hardware and specs, for almost half the cost as anyone else. The Galaxy S4 is around 700 dollars off contract, which is absolutely insane. The Nexus 5 will cost (this is an educated guess) around 300-350 dollars, which is half the price of anything else, with the same (in my opinion better) user experience.

2. UPDATES (real catch)

Buying a Nexus phone has one simple bonus. You will always (except for you Gnex verizon people) get the latest version of android, before everyone else. Who doesn't like new software as fast as possible?

3. Everything else

The Nexus 5 is going to be a 5inch 1080p screen with a snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of ram and a 8mp shooter. Now for those of you who have no idea what I just said, I can break it down for you. Let's imagine that the phone you have in your hand right now (which im guessing is close to 1-2 years old) is the car you had when you were 16. Probably an old beater that had 200,000 miles on it that you didn't care about. The Nexus 5, is an Audi A8 with all the little extras like leather seats and air condition and the fancy GPS that you brag about to all your friends, but never really use it, because you would have your Nexus 5 navigating you around with Google Maps ;)

when it doubt, wait it out, and buy Nexus 5

ROM REVIEW - AOKP MR BUILD 5

I have decided to dedicate part of my time testing and evaluating ROMS. I am running a gNex (toro) but i'm sure that most of these rom i review should work on most phones..... DRUM ROLL PLEASE....

AOKP JBMR Build 5

I've always been a fan of AOKP for several reasons. The main point being, the customization of the phone. There is very little in this ROM that you cant change. The NAV bars... the colors... the icons themselves. I've been rocking this room for about 3 weeks now, and i must say i am enjoying it. The battery life is better than stock, but battery life varies to how much over/under clock to RAM management/widgets/display. Another reason I enjoy there roms so much is that the dev is always updating and fixing issuses in the rom. I definitely suggest checking this one out, if i had to explain every customization feature on the phone, id be writing a small novel. I personally change roms on my phone anywhere from 2-4 times a week.

Phones you should buy INSTEAD of the iPhone 5

Hey there guys, this is a small list of phones you should buy now, or wait for versus buying the inferior and technologically lacking iPhone 5. I've been meaning to write this article for a very long time. I literally HATE the iPhone 5, because ultimately when it boils all the way down, there is nothing innovative and cool about it. If we time traveled back to 2010, then I would think the iPhone 5 is pretty cool, but sadly, it is 2012.

REASON 1.

The "Innovative" 4 Inch Screen

Whoa.... the iPhone 5 has a 4 inch screen!?!?!?!?!?!? SO INNOVATIVE I CANT BELIEVE IT - said no one ever. The HTC evo came out almost 3 years ago, and it had a 4.3 inch screen, not to mention that is was actually 4.3 inches from corner to corner, all they did with the iPhone is stretch it longer. It is not wider at all, just taller with yet another "innovative" feature, an extra row of apps on the homescreen.... truly mind blowing technology Apple makes, said no one ever.

REASON 2.

The "Innovative" LTE

This is probably what makes me most mad about the iPhone 5. LTE has been around for almost a year and a half now... in an ideal world, the iPhone 4S should of had LTE, because at that time was when we saw a surge in LTE devices coming out, however, Apple being Apple, held out on the technology, because quite frankly, they suck, and for some reason, people still buy they're phones anyways.

REASON 3

The iPhone 5 copied a few tricks from the almost 1 year old Galaxy Nexus (my current phone)

Let's make a list of things that the iPhone has taken from Android, or more specifically, my current phone, the Galaxy Nexus. Let's see, multitasking is the first thing. People don't realize that the Android OS has been multitasking for almost 4 years now, and not to mention Android also has had a notification pull down for 4 years too. Another thing, panoramic camera.... My phone (Galaxy Nexus) and most Ice Cream and JellyBean phones have been doing it for a long time now.

Overall, it just blows my mind how ignorant apple fanboys are. The iPhone 5 doesn't even have NFC, but I'm sure that next iPhone will have it and people will think they are so cool. I laugh in people's face who try and tell me the iPhone 5 is the best phone on the market. I have countlessly made so many people feel like idiots after I basically tore they're "innovative" phone to shreds. I am begging all of you, please dont waste youre money on the iPhone 5. If you want to be stuck in 2010 of phone technology, then by all means go for it. But what I ultimately boils down to is, do you want something you think is "cool", or do you want the best thing for you're buck. I will never own an iPhone unless it is the best phone on the market, and in that case, I never will.

My next article will be suggestions on phones to buy now. Android or Die :)

The tablet itself is extremely fast. Compared to the apple ipad the nexus 7 holds its own. Considering the 200 dollar price tag you are definitely better off doing with the nexus. 7 inch screen is extremely gorgeous and the battery is phenomenal. Google now and google voice typing are super awesome. I typed this entire article with google voice and it was wonderful. If you're considering purchasing a tablet I definitely recommend saving 300 dollars and buying the Nexus 7. 1 drawback to the Nexus is that there are not many tablet orientated apps. However, JellyBean is fairly new, so let's give developers sometime to start making some goodies for us.

About 1 in 2 American's own a smart phone. Along with the fact over 900,000 Android phones are activated every day, it's safe to say that we are headed into an age where phones are getting faster and better every month, but the real question everyone asks is, should I buy an Android or an iPhone, hopefully after reading this article, you will have a better understanding as to which phone is appropriate for you.

I realize that this blog is mostly about Android phones, but I will try my hardest not to be biased in my opinions, but for the record, I refuse to own an iPhone until it is the best phone available, and that has yet to be the case. I will go over a few pro's and con's of each phone.

The Apple iPhone

Pro's

The biggest pro for the iPhone is that iOS (Apple's operating system) is far more simple and easy to use than Android. For those of you who are not exactly "tech-savy" or just don't have the time to sit around and mess with your phone, than the iPhone is the way to go.

Another pro for the iPhone is the Retina Display. Apple does a fantastic job and making screens for its devices, and the Retina Display is absolutely beautiful for the iPhone.

The next pro for the iPhone, is that is works perfectly with iTunes. iTunes backs up all of your app's, contacts, music, pictures, and everything in between.

Con's

The biggest pro for the iPhone 4S is that it is not an LTE device. Many people will tell you that their iPhone is a 4G device, which is true, but not 100% true. ATT's idea of 4G is HSPA+ , which is faster than 3G internet, but nowhere near on the same level as LTE. If you want looking to buy an LTE phone (Android or iPhone) I suggest going to Verizon, because they have the largest LTE footprint of any other phone company. Now, most Android phones today are all LTE capable, no iPhone out to date is, however, the iPhone 5 will be LTE, so if you want true 4G LTE internet on your iPhone, I suggest waiting it out for the new iPhone to come out

The next con isn't really a con, but it could be to some people. Screen Size. The iPhone 4S has a screen size of 3.5 inches, which is pretty standard in today's world. However many Android phone's coming out can range anywhere from 4 inches, all the way to 5 inches. You might think to yourself, "gee whiz, why would I want my phone screen to get any bigger than it already is?" Well, I had the same exact thought when switching from my HTC Droid Incredible to my Motorla Droid Razr, and I will tell you right now that a bigger screen is better. It makes reading, texting, movie watching, 1000x easier than on the tiny screen. You might not like it at first, but you will get used to it, and you will never want to go back. The iPhone 5 is rumored to have a 4 inch screen, which is fairly small compared the the 4.8 screen of the newly released Samsung Galaxy S III (which I totally recommend you buying if you need a new phone)

Overall I definitely recommend getting an Android. With the massive screens, 4G LTE capabilities across multiple wireless providers, and overall better hardware in every way almost, you'd be dumb to buy an iPhone. I will write another 2 articles on why people who buy iPhones and think they have the best phone are the most annoying people on earth, and another article containing pro's and con's of an Android phone. Stay posted, donate, and please vote on the right it would help me a lot with writing :)
Well I have good news for you, you can now purchase a conversion kit to change your Droid Razr to a Droid Razr Maxx. The nice thing about this kit is that all of the parts are 100% real Motorola parts, and from what i've read and watched on youtube, not very hard too change, however if you are afraid of ruining your phone, you can actually ship your phone to the company, and they will do it for you. Below you will find a link to go directly to the website. Feel free to donate to the Broke College Kid Fund at the bottom of my page as well :) Thanks for reading! In the Android world, there is a term known as "rooting". For those first time Android users, rooting is a very high reward-low risk hack you can do to your phone. It's fairly simple, and reaps many benefits to your already incredible Android smart phone. I will list a a few pros and cons to rooting, to help make your decision easier.

PROS

1. Extend Battery Life Significantly
Rooting your phone gives you control over things you normally wouldn't be able to control. One of the things you gain control over is the ability to control the speed of your CPU. Imagine your phone is like a car. Most cars have a governor in them that only allows them to max out at a certain speed. The same is with an Android device. A non-rooted device is preset to only allow the CPU to hit a maximum speed. For example, lets say you own a Droid RAZR. A droid RAZR has a 1.2 Ghz dual core processor. So, in a non rooted phone, at any point in time, your processor could be running anywhere from 300 Mghz to 12000 Mghz. However when a phone is rooted, you can control and set the maximum and mininum speed of your phones CPU. For example, my own personal phone (Droid RAZR) my CPU is set to run from 300 Mghz to 1200 Mghz when my screen is on, but when the screen is off, the CPU will only max out at 300 Mghz. Essentially, a non rooted phone with its screen off's CPU is consuming 4x as much power as my own personal rooted phone when it's screen is off. This CPU control, along with Juice Defender (see previous post) can drastically improve battery life.

2. FREE WIFI HOT SPOT (with 4G LTE/3G)

1. Another big bonus of rooting your phone, is the ability of turning your phone into a hotspot for your computer/tablet/xbox/anything else that uses internet to connect too. Now I know what your thinking.. "Why would I root my phone, when I could just pay an extra 30 dollars a month and get it from my phone service provider". The answer to that is quite simple, why pay 30 dollars a month (30 dollars a month x 12 months x 2 year (typical contract length) comes to a grand total of 720 dollars spent on the ability to have wifi tether. Now i will leave you with this question, which is cheaper, free wifi over two years, or 720 dollars of wifi over two years? :)

http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list

^ that is a list of the app used to get free wifi, its not in market anymore

3. ABILITY TO FLASH CUSTOM ROMS

Flashing custom roms is a very distinct feature that android has over the iOS. It is the ability to pretty much customize your phone, anyway to your liking. One of the coolest features of Android is the ability to customize the phone to your own liking. Every single iPhone is exactly the same. Every single Android is different. And you can take that many steps farther when rooting your phone. Whether it be changing your notification bar, to changing the icon that measures your battery, you can literally almost change everything. Here is a small forum explaining more in detail how this is all done...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591329

CONS OF ROOTING

Well, there are a few cons, but they arent very likely too happen, and there are alot of people out there who can help you fix whatever problems you encounter. You may brick you phone in the process (highly unlikely) (bricking means what it sounds like... your phone becomes a brick)

I realize I put much effort into the CONS, but there really arent enough reasons to not root your android device. Every droid i have ever owned has been rooted, and i have yet to regret it to this day. I hope this helped, feel free too comment any questions or concerns.
However, like most 4G LTE phones, the battery life can be less than sub par at times. That is why I have decided to give you a clear cut method on how to really maximize your Razr's battery life.

There are two applications you will need to download in order to achieve greater battery life. The first is Juice Defender and the second is 4G Toggle for RAZR.

The next step in the process of getting great battery life is setting up a few rules using the Smart Actions app pre-downloaded on the RAZR. I have 2 rules set in place on my Razr. The first is my (Battery 35%) rule. When the battery hits 35%, the RAZR will automatically launch the 4G Toggle for RAZR app. When this happens, you will want to change your network from LTE/CDMA to just CDMA. This will put your phone into 3G mode, saving alot of life compared to being in 4G. The second rule in effect is my (Battery 10%) rule. When the battery hits 10%, the phone turns the brightness to 0%, changes display timeout to 15 seconds, disables backround sync, and disables cellular data. Essentially after this rule, your smartphone, becomes a regular phone. You wont be able to go on facebook, or tweet or browse the web. You will strictly be able to call and text which will really prolonges your last 10% of battery.

The next step in achieving greater battery life, is setting up Juice Defender. In my own opinion, Juice Defender should come pre downloaded on every single droid. I've had this app on every one of my Droids since the OG Droid. This app is amazing in saving battery life. What Juice Defender does is it essentially controls your phone's internet when your not using it. For example. When my screen shuts off, my internet also turns off. However, It turns on for 1 minute every 15 minutes to check and see if I have emails, facebook, tweets, ect. You can customize what apps connect to the internet when your phone is locked. This app is a life saver, and a must have on every Android Device. Hope this guide helps, Please comment with any questions or concerns and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
I started my journey when I was 16, when for christmas I received the first Motorola Droid. At first I found the phone very confusing, and regretted my decision of not getting an iPhone. However, after tinkering around, I grew to love everything about my Droid. After breaking my OG Droid (original droid) I moved on to my next phone, the HTC Droid Incredible. This phone was even better than my last, but after a while, I finally became a big boy, when I recently purchased the Motorola Droid Razr.
