Kylie Minogue received her OBE from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace earlier today. The OBE was awarded for services to music.

Kylie said: "It was a surprisingly emotional affair".

Earlier this year, Kylie was also presented with the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government for her "contribution to the enrichment of French culture".

Kylie has been named the Most Photogenic Celebrity, in a new survey by Samsung cameras.

She was followed closely by George Clooney, who landed the second spot on the list, reports the Daily Express.

Third on the list was actor Brad Pitt while former Spice Girls star Victoria Beckham fourth.

Rounding off the top five was Elizabeth Hurley.

Kylie's European Tour Kicks Off In Style....Just

Australian pop star Kylie Minogue has kicked off her long awaited KylieX2008 tour in Paris, France.

However, Kylie Minogue's opening tour night was almost cancelled following a throat infection scare.

Tour producers reportedly panicked after Kylie lost her voice last week and they considered calling off the performance.

The show has also been beset by technical problems relating to the giant video screens on the spectacular stage, while producers are said to be worried the show is too long and doesn't include enough of Kylie's greatest hits.

Kylie Minogue's World Tour begins in Paris on May 6th and will include shows in Greece, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Luxembourg, Russia, Latvia and Spain. The tour reportedly cost more than £10million to stage and has already taken over half a million in sales.

Kylie's latest Geisha Girl look complete with red kimono was designed to promote the forthcoming world tour and has been greeted with mixed opinion (surprise, surprise...)

In my opinion, it's not a completely brand new look. How about Kylie in the 1998 GBI (German Bold Italic) video with Towa Tei?

The promotional music video for "All I See" was directed by William Baker, Minogue's creative director. It was filmed in three hours while Minogue was on break from KYLIEX2008 tour rehearsals. Filmed in black-and-white, it features Minogue and dancer Marco da Silva dancing in front of a white background. The video premiered on Kylie's website on April 18, 2008.

The US market, unlike Australia, Europe and Asia where she has dominated, has again proved elusive for Kylie Minogue.

Minogue, 39, appeared to do everything right to promote the album. She performed two songs in front of almost 30 million TV viewers on America's Dancing with the Stars and appeared on other television shows, but her latest album, X, only sold a paltry 5500 copies and debuted on the Billboard charts at a lowly 139.

Kylie is well aware of how hard the US market is to crack with her style of pop music, but is still bitterly disappointed not to make her big breakthrough. "To know where I fit within that market is sometimes difficult," she said in an interview on the US Today show.

Kylie Minogue is set to launch her latest assault on the US music charts by performing live in front of more than 20 million US TV viewers next week on America's version of Dancing with the Stars.

The performance will take place on Tuesday - the same day her latest album, X, hits US record stores.

The US has been one of the few markets where Minogue has struggled to dominate, although she topped the charts in 2002 with Fever.

Minogue has been busy talking up the album with the American media, telling Interview magazine she wanted to make X to prove she could still sing after her 2005 breast cancer scare.

The 2007 Christmas special of Doctor Who, Voyage of the Damned is a rip-roaring, hugely entertaining adventure, whose pace, energy and ambition plasters over its undeniable cracks.

With David Tennant in the title role, and Doctor Who fan Kylie Minogue stepping into the role of his assistant, Astrid, the adventure picks up where the third series of the programme ended: with the Titanic crashing into the Tardis.

With the loose ends quickly resolved, Voyage of the Damned soon picks up its key threads. There’s a futuristic Titanic spaceship, a cast of space tourists (with recognisable names from British television, such as Clive Swift and Geoffrey Palmer), and inevitably, impending disaster.

Voyage of the Damned then manages to inject fast action, better-than-expected special effects, and a surprisingly high body count. It’s got cracks in its setup, and isn’t bereft of flaws (not least a slightly inflated running time), but it is a whole lot of fun, and a great improvement on the previous year’s special, The Runaway Bride. It’s good, too, that in spite of Kylie Minogue’s star billing, her character isn’t allowed to dominate the story, and as a result she turns in good work, holding her own in an impressive cast.

In all, Voyage of the Damned is a fun, rewatchable adventure, with plenty in the tank to keep you entertained. Definitely worth picking up. --Simon Brew

Kylie Minogue is selling the French Island retreat where she spent time recovering after her breast cancer surgery in 2005.

The four-bedroom property on French Island, a two-hour boat trip from her Melbourne hometown, is expected to go for 2 million Australian dollars (1.8 million US dollars).

The family has spent close to 1 million dollars on the retreat, including planting 1,000 trees.

French Island has no piped water, electricity or gas, although several environmentally friendly innovations have been made by the Minogues, including solar and wind power installations. It is served by a ferry that runs services to the mainland.

The decision to sell came as a shock to the island’s 80 permanent residents, who seemed to love their celebrity star neighbour.
