Bicyclists Vs. Motorist!

A reader has requested I write about bicyclist on the road with cars, so that is what I am going to do!

Car vs. Bike

If you live in California then you have most likely encountered the war between bicyclist and motorist. I am a bicyclist and a motorist so I experience and understand both sides of the war.

It is really quite simple to solve the issues in this war, should it be that everyone in the world read this post.

I have seen many Brave bicyclists and this is not a good thing! There is a saying that “bravery is stupidity”. Let’s look at this logically, the average vehicles range from 2500 pounds to maybe 5000 pounds, you on a bicycle on average weigh 110-200 pounds, that is nothing compared to a vehicle. So who do you think is most likely to survive, walk away with none to less injury, and not be in a wheel chair for the rest of their life, or win, should your bike and a vehicle become one (crash, collide, squish together)? In case you are still puzzling about this it is the person in the vehicle, they WIN! If you’re a bicyclist and you are reading this DON’T BE BRAVE!

The main issue between bicyclist and motorist is patience and sometimes the amount of space of the road.

Let’s start with Bicyclists. Now in California it is common for cars to park on the side of the road, whether it be at a meter in a business district or outside apartments in housing district. Bicyclists are to ride as close to the right hand side of the road as safely possible, but there are cases where they must go around parked cars, and are not required to ride in what is called the “door zone”. This act causes problems for motorist in a way that if bicyclists go around the car and ride 3 feet away from the cars, to avoid the “door zone”, they are basically in the middle of the lane, motorist can’t go around them, and bicyclist defiantly do not travel as fast as vehicles. This is problematic for both parties, because bicyclist travel slower than a car so for them to stop behind a parked car and wait for traffic to clear would take them much longer to commute, which would overall cause them to not commute by bicycle, but by car, which would then lead to more traffic (another car on the road if you will), which would then slow everyone down.

Sometimes it pays to ride a bike!

From a motorist point of view this causes road rage, from impatience, which is understandable, because when you are in a car you want to get where you’re going, and driving 15-20mph isn’t going to get you there. I have had drivers when they are feeling brave risk hitting me and squeeze right past me, just to get around me (I however do not ride like most bicyclist so this is unnecessary), or they have almost caused an accident by swerving into the other lane because they can’t wait a damn minute for me to get around the cars. Back to what I was saying these drivers speed past bicyclist just to get caught in the traffic up ahead, you don’t know how many cars I have caught up with after they did this and road right past them again (what a waste of energy on their part).

But here is a fact in LA, if you are a driver maybe you need to adjust your train of thought, to go 10 miles in LA in any direction it takes 1hr (sometimes longer depending on the time of day), that gives you an average rate of speed of 10mph. I have done a test car vs. bike, I drove my car 10 miles in one direction, and then rode my bike 10 miles in the same direction, not only taking the same route but sometimes a little longer for safety reasons (small roads, cars to close for comfort), and have made it to the same destination in the same amount of time 10 miles, 1 hour). So what do drivers really accomplish with this impatience, Nothing!

Don't piss off people in cars!

Some of this can be avoided though I as a bicyclist don’t take up a whole lane (unless the road is in VERY poor condition), when cars are parked on the side of the road, I do ride close to the cars (in the “door zone”) but am constantly checking for drivers in parked cars (so not to get caught by a swinging door) and watching the traffic behind me. I have seen bicycles swing out into traffic without looking when going around a car, don’t do this! I always check before I go around a car to make sure that either no car is riding right beside me that I might run into when merging into traffic, or there is no car coming up behind me that might swerve and hit another car that could then fish tail or spin and hit me.

I have seen Bicyclists that will ride next to each other and take up the whole lane. This is how it should be done!

We were following a bicyclist in a mall parking lot in the main road around the mall that was weaving back and forth so no cars could pass him. As a driver we just wanted to take him out. There was another incident where we were driving down a tight road (cars parked on both sides) that was hard enough for two cars passing each other to fit, and a bicyclist was riding against traffic down the middle of the road headed right for us. If we would have hit him and he would have been injured there is nothing he could have done about it, as he would have been at fault for his injuries. These riders were in the valley area where bicyclists are not as common so it is stupid not to be more careful. Don’t test motorist it won’t end up well for you, especially when you can be found at fault.

This could happen to you!

Bike lanes are very crucial to the peace between cars and bicyclists, but as it is difficult to place these lanes in areas that have not been updated to modern times so the roads are not wide enough to install them, and or the cities won’t use the time or money as they feel it is a waste, it is in the best interest of both to be respectful, patient, and follow the laws so no one gets hurt. If you are the bicyclist and are not following bike laws and get hit by a car then it is on you to pay for your injuries, if you are an impatient driver it will be on you to pay for the injuries of the bicyclist, which if severe enough can be severe enough to last a life time or cripple for life.

Most drivers would say “why can’t bicyclists take back roads instead of main roads?”, or “why can’t they ride their bike around their neighborhood?” Well it’s because in LA you don’t have average neighborhoods. There are constantly cars driving through neighborhoods as alternate routes to traffic and there are so many stop signs it is constant stop and go, whereas on the main road it’s a nice steady ride for the most part. If I think of more I will add it later.

Going to the Gym

How many of you go to the gym and circle the parking lot to find the closest parking spot?

Really?... Really?

This is something that doesn't make any sense! You are going to the gym to work out, run on the treadmills, do the ellipticals, stair climbers, cycles, and you can't walk from your car down the parking lot to the gym! Why? You should want to get that extra bit of exercise in! But if you do, don't feel bad... I do it too! My excuse is...I'm lazy! I don't want to do more than I came to do. I'm here, I'm getting sweaty, pushing myself, I run on the treadmill not walk, when I leave I am basically crawling to the car.

Should there be handicap parking at the Gym??? I have never seen an actual handicap person at the Gym. If the cops want to catch people with illegal handicap plaques thats the place to do it. For starters how many people are actually handicap that park in handicap spots. You know I have seen handicap people fighting to walk across the parking lot, and people who are obviously not handicap, just walk with no problem to the front door. At least if I park in the handicap spots I limp to the door.

Don't you hate it when your running and you swallow a fly? That happen to me today, outside of course, actually it was more like a moth. I wanted to throw up. Why is it so much easier to run on a treadmill than it is outside? I'll tell you why! Because treadmills are the lazy way of running, unless you put the treadmill on incline (and .5 doesn't count). When you run outside your speed is constantly changing (up and down), and you have to push yourself off of the ground to move forward. On a treadmill your moving forward without trying, all you have to do is lift your foot up.

How many of you move the pin down on the weights before you leave? I don't at the gym I'm at now, but I used to when I went to 24hr fitness, cause there were always these big strong dudes, and they were like "ggggrrrrruuuunnnntttt" (slam weights) and I was like "whoa settle down". I am never impressed by how much they can lift, but sometimes I liked to shock them, so I would move the pin down to look like I was pumping more than I was, they would look at me like "WWWHHHAAATTT?" and I would look back with a grin like" OOOhhhh YEAH that's right GRUNT!"

I'm really not good at exercise because I hate repetition!

The English Language and all it's Mysteries!!

What is the purpose of silent letters in words? Or what purpose does it serve? Why can’t words just be spelled like they sound?

I feel like they put these letters in just to make life harder. They do it to see if we can learn to understand something they made more confusing, and if you can’t then you won’t be successful. It’s like pin pointing your career in elementary school, “This student couldn’t get it so they will be a warehouse worker”, “This student could get it so now we will see how they excel in the reset of their studies for the next 13 years, and then we will see where they will go.

Here are some examples: Though- what was wrong with Tho, Whether- umm wether, Aisle-ile done, Receive- or receve what purpose does an I in the middle and an E at the end serve isn’t that kind of redundant, Gauge- gage, Laugh- Laf, Guess- gess, Guide-gide. Why the silent B in words? What purpose does that serve? Tomb-toom, Bomb- bom, Debt-det. Why is it when there is a word like Black it needs a C and a K? Why not just Blak? Why the silent G? That’s just ridiculous, gnarl, gnaw, gnome, foreign, sign. The silent H: ghost, whistle; school, chord. The silent K: knee, knife, knowledge. The silent and extra N: condemn, column, solemn. This one is really annoying, the silent P: pneumonia, receipt. The one that is extra ridiculous is the silent T: depot, potpourri, watch. The silent W: answer. Why the extra letters in words? What wrong with one L, S, Z, R? Some of them I understand, like when the second one makes a sound also, but not at the end of a word. Now you all should understand how all of the words above should be spelled. Do you know how much faster we could write sentences if it weren’t for these extra letters?

And Then there are people who just don't get it at all!

I would have written this whole Post spelling words with the way I feel they should be written, but it would take all the readers who are good at spelling a long time to read it. But all of those hoo understand, noe how this woold hav been written, Haha.

I would have loved to have been the person who came up with the written English language, cause then it would make sense.

Dodge the Dodgers!

Baseball is the one sport you actually have to watch so you don't get hit by a foul or over the fence ball, they have that guarantee that you will watch them play. If you look down for a second and then look back up, first thing your thinking is "Where's the ball? I don't see the ball!... Oh the pitcher has it." then a sigh of relief, then you think about the craziness that just went through your head, turn toward your friend give a brief giggle and a smile then....WHAP! You just took a ball to the head. You shouldn't have looked away!

So I was at the Dodgers stadium watching the Dodgers play the Brewers ( I'm not really a dodgers fan), and its not at all a great experience. The woman sitting in front of me cannot sit still to save her life, and she is so inconsiderate of other people around her. She was sitting behind her family (I assume they bought last minute tickets) and she kept hitting me with her hair, and the drink cup holders are in a horrible location, she kept scratching herself behind the neck and all I could think is I don't want your skin, hair, lice, or fleas in my drink, cause that's where they decided it would be a good idea to put the drink holder was attached to the back of the seats (not on the arms of the seats like at the movie theater (cause that would have made sense)). She had a son and a daughter that kept running up and down the aisle, all i could think is your daughter is going to end up just like you, and keep spreading that inconsideration for other people.

The setup of the stadium is really bad I feel like the field is really small compared to minor league baseball fields I have seen. The food cost more than the airport, which should we should discuss more at a later date, you can't bring your own food or drink in, there are no drink refills, there needs to be food laws regulating this, if restaurants have to give you refills so should everywhere, I pay way less for fast food and I get free refills there. The food was overpriced but that's not as a big deal to me as drinks, we have to drink to stay alive, and you are sitting outside in the sun and water isn't even free. They should divide the stadium by teams so there isn't as much conflict. The cost of seats is ridiculous, it is comparable to concert seats and they are not on the same level as a concert.

The stadium doesn't have a baseball feel to it, I felt like I was at the circus. There weren't the traditional people going around saying popcorn peanuts... and the talking guy didn't keep you updated. LA teams really think they are the shit look at the Lakers, they are the same. Lets just say i am glad i didn't pay for the tickets. The dodgers didn't get my money. Nothing happened to get excited about in the game. When I was a kid I used to go watch the Kinston Indians play in NC, that was fun to watch, and way more worth the time and money, and they were a Minor League Baseball team. I am going to see the Angels play next week (which is a team I have wanted to see play since I was a kid), I expect it to be way better than the Dodgers, sense over all they have been doing great this year. They beat the Yankees on Memorial Day!

Memorial Day Weekend.

Why do we accept this?

As a consumer we expect our items to work properly for a long period of time, without issues...yet when it comes to our smart phones for some reason we are not getting our money’s worth, and we are excepting this. Why?? We are the consumer, why do we let them not give us the best in the first place. For instance: the IPhone, when the IPhone 4 came out there were issues with the voice commander, so then everyone with the 4 was stuck with the 4 unless they paid to upgrade their phone to the 4S. I feel since it wasn’t up to the consumers standards everyone with the 4 should have gotten the 4S trade in option for free. There are other IPhone issues like maps, limited memory…but I just mentioned the one. When it comes to Androids there are still major issues like the phones overheating, the phone restarting, battery life, force closing on apps, pre-uploaded apps that we can’t uninstall, the phones slowing way down after 6 months, etc.

Let’s talk about the pre-uploaded apps… now I know that supposedly these apps help reduce the price of the phone, as it’s like selling advertising, but one I don’t feel like smartphones are actually worth what they ask for them anyway, I feel it’s a scam, and two for as much money as we put out for these phones we should be able to put what apps we would like on them. Let’s go back the number one, the price of smart phones, the whole thing is a joke, smart phones are not the equivalent of a PC (personal computer), so why do they cost the same…Well some would say it can make phone calls, Answer: my computer can Skype… well it can access the internet anywhere, Answer: WI-FI is everywhere… well it can download apps, Answer: Well PC’s can download software forms of apps. So why is it, that the retail cost is the same as a computer? There is plenty that a PC can do that a smartphone cannot do. What the contract price is is what the retail price should be (the actual value of these phones, if that), they have put a ridiculous value on these phones and we have accepted it.

We get stuck in these two year contracts and these phone always start acting up right after the warranty is up, and why do I have to pay to insure the phone, so that after the 30 day warranty if it should have a technological problem it can be replaced? Oh and I have to basically pay the contract price all over again to replace the phone with the insurance as a deductible. Why is it I can get a one year warranty on a tower fan or a vacuum, but not on a PC or a smartphone? We pay to get insurance on these item after we buy them. It’s one thing if it’s for reasons that you may cause, but I personally have never broken a phone, but have had to pay to a replace a phone 6 months into my contract that stopped working. I recently purchased the Droid Bionic the phone is advertised as having an 8GB memory, what they don’t tell you is that 4GB’s of that memory is taken up by pre-installed apps, most of which I will never use. Luckily the Androids do come with the option to add additional memory through Micro SD cards (unlike the IPhone), but some apps cannot be moved to SD memory. I paid over $100 for this phone why can’t I choose the apps I want on my overpriced phone.

I could go on and on about paying all this for a phone then having to spend the same amount of money to protect the phone so it doesn’t break or get scratched up, but I will leave that up to your imagination… Oh and holey crap, how hard would it have been to put a damn end button in the smartphone apps, we have to download task killers so the apps don’t kill the battery so fast, WTF Really? That’s all we need is a close button, computers have them, why don’t smartphones? What is up with Verizon charging for everything also, everyone else is being competitive by offering better phone plan packages at lower prices, and Verizon is just raising prices and lowering data and charging more for it, how does that make since? Yet, I am still one of those people who have Verizon, but I am a long time customer so I don’t pay for limited data plans, and some of the other new charges. So that’s it I feel we as consumers should not except these crappy terms, and get what we pay for, pay the correct value for what we are getting, get better warranties, not be paying for Data since the phones require it, get empty phones with no pre-loaded apps, and anything else that is just unacceptable!!!

If it's not bad enough when our smartphones, computers, or technology in general fail us, now they are making cars that park themselves?? How can anyone trust that? How is that legal to sale? What if you start to rely on the backup cam on your car to see something behind your car and stop and then it doesn't one day? What if a smudge gets on the camera and it thinks something is behind you and keep breaking? But you don't know why it's doing this. What if your car is parking its self and hits another car? How can we really rely on technology to do these things for us, when it fails us so often?

Who's Robbing Who?

I want my money back, don't you?

It’s really quite interesting that people still think they can get away with robbing banks; there was a news story about a guy who robbed a bank, and probably would have gotten away with it, had he not stopped and smoked a cigarette before he took off, they caught him from the DNA on the cigarette butt he left on the ground. There have been many other stories where people didn’t even cover up their faces, and they showed the camera footage on the news, and these people still couldn’t be identified. How is that possible? Almost everybody at these peoples ages has a driver’s license, shouldn’t a system scan been able to at least recover people matching the facial structure. Either way I say if you want to rob a bank you should really just go in and say “I want my money back!” I don’t think it’s actually robbing a bank it’s just getting your money back, banks are the ones robbing us. I used (just a note: while using the word used in this tense, I noticed that it seems like it should be spelled different because the way we say it would actually be spelled youst, and the meaning is different ) to bank with Wells Fargo, I lost so much money to that bank, to bull$^!+ fees.

Best Movie of the Year!???

Is it really the Best Movie of the year, when its the first movie of the year?

I like how they always say it's the best movie of the year, when it’s the first movie of the year.That’s not saying much. January 05,2012 critics rave "BLAH BLAH" is the Best movie of the year. Really??? Of course its the best movie of the year, when you have nothing to compare it to, but i don't feel like anything should get that title until you can compare it to something. Why do they feel the need to put that? I have never based my decision on what critics say..."Oh it's the best movie of the year?...Okay then I have to see it!" ALMOST every time I have seen a movie based on the fact that critics raved about it, it has sucked. Plus now they say that about every movie..."critics rave it's the best movie of the year..two thumbs up!" You know they just pick the best reviews, and you know there was some critic that thought it sucked, but they can't promote it like that.

I just think it's ridiculous they think they need to promote it that way, like that's how we base our decisions.." Oh ok the critics raved it's a great movie, now we can see it." "Cause you know we can't see it if they don't say it's good." If they think that is really how we base our decisions then why do they bother with the trailer for the movie? Why don't they just show a 5 second commercial that says: "BLAH BLAH" "Critics rave Best movie of the year, two thumbs up!"? They really think we are idiots, which for what we pay to see a movie in the theater now, we kind of are. I remember when it cost $6 to see a movie and $4 matinee, now we pay $13 a person, and more if you want to see it 3-D, or IMax 3-D. Last time i was in the town I grew up in, movies were still pretty cheap, compared to other cities and states, However that has been awhile so it might have changed now.

Me and my Pet Fly

Would it be cool to have a pet fly? One that sits on your shoulder and goes where you go.

You know when you go to somewhere and there's a bug flying around you and then you go somewhere else and the same kind of bug is flying around you, and you wonder if it was the same bug following you. If you're with someone they always have something smart to say, like... "Taken a shower lately?", or if you make it home and still have the fly "now you can actually say he followed you home!" We had a gnat in our apartment once that we couldn't catch (and I am really good at catching flies in my hand) so we named him Robert, he just seemed like a Robert. Needless to say one day I finally caught Robert, or one that looked just like him, who knows maybe Robert is still out there...

Why is that those little gnat flies always bother you when your eating? You'll be outside for awhile not eating, then go in and grab a sandwich, come back out, and there it is! Can they smell it? I never thought of flies as having a sense of smell.

Therapist, Doctor or Focus Group??

Some things are just obvious!

Have you ever gone to the doctor for something and gotten no answers on the reason you came? Or gotten a bunch of guesses (it could be this, or it could be that)?

I went through most of the past 2yrs tuning people out (not always intentionally), no matter how hard I tried I just couldn’t tune them in (hear them), their lips were moving but it was like silent movement. I don’t know if it was that I didn’t care what they were saying (that happens a lot), or my tuner was broke. While they would be talking I would be thinking in my head (but where else would you think), “what are they saying?” “Okay listen to them, and go!…” , “Nothin”, “man their mouths are moving, but I can’t tune them in” “I hope they don’t question me about what they are talking about, or ask me a question they want an answer to”. (Still in my head) “I think this interview is going very well I totally got the job”, 1 week later… “I wonder why I didn’t get the job?”.

I recently went to a psychiatrist, just to see if there was anything wrong with me, and to get some answers on things that I thought were an issue… turns out it’s not me, its other people! While I was there I realized the therapist would ask me questions and then I would answer, okay that’s all fine and dandy, but then they would say things like I think your suffering from depression, and PTSD, then ask me questions about these things and then move on. They wouldn’t tell me how to solve the problems, and every time I went back I noticed the same pattern, “you have this, you have that” the end. I realized that psychiatry is kind of a joke… We pay these people to listen to us talk and guess what’s wrong with us, when we can do that ourselves. I felt like everything they said was just common sense, it was stuff I already knew.

I went to my physical therapist today and it was kind of the same thing…They gave me a piece of paper with some stretches on it and said “do these, and then you can go home”, I was thinking why couldn’t my doctor give me this paper? I have to pay a therapist to give me this paper and stand there and watch me stretch? Why couldn’t I have done this for a month after my surgery, and then gone to therapy later to do my strengthening? It is a huge waste of time and money.

Don’t think Doctors (Internal medicine) aren’t the same way. I was having knee pain, so they said you have flat feet, so I went to a foot doctor and paid for special shoe inserts…I still have the knee pain! I don’t go to doctors to have someone guess what’s wrong with me, I did that before I came…Why do you think I am here? If I wanted someone else to guess what’s wrong with me I could have asked a friend for free. Why is that when you ask a doctor to explain your results better, they just say the same thing a different way, but still just as confusing. "If I knew what those words meant, do you think I would be sitting here right now?"

So I came up with a solution…Host a focus group! You can go to a Doctor who is going to guess, or bring the facts to a focus group and get better answers. Focus groups are the way to get answers these days, you can get answers to mental, and physical problems! Not only would you be getting answers, it most likely will cost you less also, and you would be supporting more people who need the extra money, not people who already have lots! You can ask questions like, “What do you think the most likely problem is?” Give them options and whatever the majority rules is most likely the answer. Money saved, results concurred.

This article is a joke, but does support some Logic.

Can you smell it or eat it...???

Have you heard of some of the ways trainers suggest giving up unhealthy foods, as part of a weight loss diet?

Lets start with the smell it instead of eat it practice, if you smell it doesn't that make you just want to eat it? Doesn't it make your mouth water, and your taste buds just crave a bite? You aren't going to be completely satisfied with whatever you end up eating, after smelling that, which is going to make you eat more to try and satisfy that craving right?

Here's how the scenario plays in there healthy little mind... "Now as part of your weight loss journey, giving up unhealthy foods is the first step...what I want you to do is, when you crave something, smell it, and then turn away and eat an apple..Now wasn't that easy" "NO" Now here's what went through your unhealthy (you might say dirty) little head "Oh yeah, you smell that, can you just taste it, you know you want it, you just want to hold it, maybe just a lick, okay maybe just a bite, how about the whole thing...I'll work it off later" and that is Logic.

Lets put this logic into a restaurant, your sitting with your friends, you've order just a salad, they have all ordered nice meals, so you ask to sniff their food, Now how did that make you feel? Lets look at it from a different angle your by yourself, it's lunch time, you walk into Jack-N-the Box, you start smelling the air, a voice from behind the register asks "may I help may" you reply "No, I'm good" take one more big sniff, and walk out. Now did that seem normal, "No".

Did you ever see where people would actually make stuff at home that they wanted to eat (now these are skinny people doing this) put it on a plate, sniff it, then walk away, this has actually happened. I love food, I am not one of those people who needs to be on a diet and I could never do any of this. If you want to order a salad when you go out to eat go for it, but your on your own, I am taking out the whole restaurant, if I smell it then I am going to eat it. Its amazing how much our taste buds differ, some people crave grapes, apples, broccoli.... and others crave fries, pizza, hot dogs (the yummy life), don't get me wrong I've craved a banana before, can't remember when but there was a time. Just so you all know I do support a healthy life style, I just don't always understand some of the roads to get there.

For those of you who watch criminal justice shows, you may have never thought about it or had the same experiences I have had, or maybe you have......

If you've ever watched Without a Trace, Law and Order, C.S.I, Criminal Minds. etc maybe you've shared my experience. You have no idea what these shows do to your way of thinking or do you, let's see... Before I ever started watching Criminal Minds, or Without a trace, I was always nonchalant, now I am always paranoid. For example if my girlfriend doesn't call or text at a regular time, like when she gets to somewhere, or doesn't answer the phone after I call a couple times, or doesn't call me back within 20 min... I immediately start thinking the worst. It's pretty insane, I used to think, when she didn't call or text, "oh traffic, shes not there yet", "she must be busy", "her phone must have died", now because of these shows I immediately go to, "call 9-1-1, she's been kidnapped (which if its an adult shouldn't it be adult-napped, I'm just saying)" or "there's a hostage situation, CALL HOTCH (criminal minds reference) , get the B.A.U (behavior analysis unit) out here STAT". It's all reverse. you see what these shows do to you.. Now the writers are out there with smiles on their faces "well we've done our job". Yeah Thanks. Life will never be the same. Tisk, Tisk.

Museums, amuzement parks, and children under 5...???

Why do people bring children under 5 to Museums, amusement parks, Zoos etc?

Children under 5 are to young to enjoy these things, they can't appreciate them, they won't remember them, and they just cry and scream (Ooooohh the screaming. Blah). If my parents ever took me somewhere before I was 5yrs, I don't remember it. Museums are a big question mark... they are quiet places, are a learning experience, and you can't touch things. Yet, parents still feel like bringing young children under 5 to Museums is a good idea. I am all for children learning at a young age but that's what blocks and toys are for they can't understand big museum words, and they won't remember it. Plus you can't fully enjoy these things with children that young, you have to constantly tend to their needs, take everything you own so you have to hold onto a bunch of crap. Then there's the strollers, that get in everyone's way and you have to hold on to. If you're at an amusement park you can't go on the rides and enjoy it, because the child can't go. So why bring children that young? It makes no sense, just wait until they are old enough or find a sitter, or an older family member to take care of them while you go.

Oh and what is up with people not controlling their kids anymore?

When I was a kid you heard parents everywhere yelling at their kids, to "cut it out" "get off of that" "don't touch that". Now kids are just let go everywhere, they are touching everything, running around being loud, climbing on everything even if it says "KEEP OFF", and the parents don't do anything. We went to Travel Town today, and when we went into the gift shop, there were little kids everywhere and the parents were just sitting in the corner doing nothing (actually sitting). After they left the employees were talking with each other in disbelief, about how the parents allow there kids to act. I see employees too often have to ask parents to control their kids, they shouldn't have to do that.

If you are a parent keep your kids under control, leash them, do that good old fashion thing called discipline, don't let your kids run loose in the store, not everyone likes kids. Be respectful of others without kids, or in general.

College....????

If you have ever applied to college you may appreciate this...

I attend college at a trade school,which I thought would be better than going to a community college or a university. I always new those commercials for trade schools were to good to be true, but I attended one anyway. I haven't been very pleased with the classes (the classes so far are for someone who has never touched a computer),or the teaching. For starters it is supposed to be a hands on experience, this to me does not mean typing reports on technology (using a keyboard is not hands on), you aren't supposed to write about technology, your supposed to do technology, you know take stuff apart and put it back together.

Anyhoo I have been so unpleased with the college I attend so I decided to check out the city college, which I pretty much knew how that was going to go, but i did it just in case it changed. So the difference between trade school and city/community college, and a university, is the degree... right! At a trade school you learn what you pay for nothing more and sometimes less, but the degree isn't as good, at a city/community college you have to take more general education classes (math, English, social studies) and the degree is better. So my point is why can't we just learn what it takes to do the jobs that go with our career choice, I mean we are paying for it, we had to do English, math and social studies in High School, if you graduated that should be enough.

Have you ever thought that social studies feels like brain wash by the government, the only reason you need to know about politics is if you want to go into politics. I have yet to find a reason why I need to know the past presidents, or the past wars, or any other useless knowledge. "People constantly say don't dwell on the past because you can't change the past"... so why do we have to learn social studies then, its over, done with.. I know what your thinking but we can learn from the past, well I already know not to start wars and it only goes downhill from here, one law leads 1 billion more (so much for a free country). That is why game shows like jeopardy were invented, to give us a reason to use useless knowledge. Anyhoo I don't want to waste my money on crap like math, English, social studies, if the government really wants me to learn it, then they should pay for it. Do you think in other countries like Spain, they have to learn Spanish over and over. We have so much wasted knowledge its ridiculous, which do you know what wasted knowledge is... it's wasted time...

So what i learned is I am not switching to a city/community college, school still sucks (but now I have to pay for it), writing about technology is the worst way to learn about it, and the government needs to stop wasting money and pay for the bull$^!# classes they make the schools make us take. Oh and there is no way I will have to use social studies, English and a lot of the math they want me to learn to take apart an electronic,fix it, and put it back together, or to design a computer. This is how that would go if you did.. "there seems to be something wrong with the computer, it won't turn on...Lets take a look...Do you know who the 25th president of the united states is... What is t²-22t+21=0? (by the way the answer is (t-21)(t-1)=0)...hmmm now why didn't that work?" and that is how that would go.

If you are a Maury fans then you might enjoy this.

I love Maury but not because of the show, because of how these people make a fool of themselves. (Just so you know Maury has been that old sense I was a kid). I think that its crap that men can deny babies, woman can't say nope that’s not mine. Picture it a woman in the delivery room, or 6 months later, with the same excuses as men "that baby looks nothing like me, that's not mine". You don’t see men taking woman on Maury shouting that’s your baby! But what if you did...and then the results are in “Mary you are the mother”. I would like to see for a change a man go up there having to prove to a mother that he is the father instead of the way it is. Its actually sad that there are that many people who don't know who the father is, or that many fathers denying babies. You do the act be prepared to take responsibility for it. What ever happened to actually wanting to wait to find the right person. I can't imagine sleeping with just anyone, especially someone I just met.

Do you enjoy listening to random people sing???

It's pretty ridiculous what we pay for concerts these days, $100+, so why is it when you go to the concert some of the singers will pass the mic to the audience, pull someone up on stage or point the mic at the audience? You did not pay to hear some random person sing (or fail miserably at it), or even yourself (I don't want to hear myself sing I could have done that for free at home), or I can do all of this at a karaoke bar. What if you went to a comedy club and they just started passing the mic "say something funny" I think I would want a refund. Or what if you went to one of those inspirational speaker things and they started passing the mic around..I bet you wouldn't feel very inspired. I understand wanting to get the audience involved, but we're there, we're already involved, spare us the bad singers.

When's the News on????

Here’s an interesting fact, the fox 11 news is the only news that doesn’t say what time it comes on (KTLA News at 6 or 10), they just say fox 11 news, which is good for them because they get it. Who doesn’t know what time the news is on this day and age, the news is on at least 5 channels at 6. At the same time it can be confusing cause we are so used to the Blah Blah news at 6 I was watching the Big Bang Theory and saw a story on fox I wanted to see and they said “Tonight on the fox 11 news” which I took to mean fox news at 11pm but they meant Fox news channel 11. Now if you think about it, it makes more sense to say what time the news is on rather than what channel it will be on. I f you don't know what channel you are watching then you are one of those people who should be sent to the Sahara, or something of that nature where you can live under a rock. So needless to say I missed the story, I was on the right channel at the wrong time.

California Drivers....????

Now you should know the top three talked about drivers: New York, Florida, and the worst of all California. Now its not all the people of California's fault, you have to read the California Drivers Hand Book, it is so bad. The hand book is so different from other states. I always past the written test on the first try in Carolina but I had to take it three times in California. It was because the logical, common sense, correct way to drive answer was the wrong answer. In order to pass the test I had to pick the answer I was least likely to pick in any other state. Because of this I can't imagine what they would teach you in the driving portion of the DMV test.

Lets start off with driver etiquette:

Stop signs??? Have you ever been at a stop sign behind someone and they are one of those people who count to three, the Mississippi way before going? Or one of those who it seems like they are waiting for the stop sign to green? How about when you're on a street that has stop signs every third street and they stop at every street? I'm a cop stop kind of driver, if there are no other cars around.

Solution: There is no need to count to three, its not that serious. Cops don't pull people over and say "you didn't count to three".

Why is it when the light turns green do people just let off the break and let the car coast for a minute?

Solution: Lets try hitting the gas pedal when the light turns green. It's crazy but it works.

Why is it in California people ride their breaks all the way down mountains, canyons...? California is a mountainous state, just like Tennessee, North Carolina, West Virgina ETC, no the mountains aren't as big but they are still mountains.

Solution: In those states they know how to use that button on the gear stick called the overdrive button or a low gear. Now if you live in California give it a shot it will save your brake pads on the downhill.

Why doesn't California sell cars that come with turn signals??? Have you ever been at a stop sign and were going to proceed through to go straight and then the other car tried to turn left, you had no idea, their turn signal wasn't on, your not a mind reader. Maybe you were following someone and they kept hitting the brakes and you had no idea whether they were having a heart attack or just stupid. Oh the biggest crap is when someone starts getting over and they are half way through and then turn their signal on. WTF????

Solution: Lets take a look at the column (the area behind the steering wheel) that stick that comes out of the side if you push it up this flashy light will come on that points to the right, if you push it down the flashy light will point to the left. Now when you want to go in one of the two directions try it and people will know what you are doing, you have a 50/50 chance of getting it right.

Why do people stop at yellow lights??? Why?? This one drives me crazy. These people stop right when the light turns yellow not after its been yellow and about to turn red, what is that? I keep going until the light is red, if I am at the line right before it changes to red I keep going. That is how you do it. Oh but the worst is when people stop at green lights, what is that? Why would you do that?

Solution: Lets take a look at the California hand book it basically tells you to keep going unless it is red. So moral of the story keep going unless it is RED.

Why are people over 60 aloud to drive, its ridiculous. They hold up traffic, try and get over even though you are driving right next to them. I had a old man around late 70s early 80s try... okay not try he did.. make a right turn from the farthest left lane on an 8 lane road. Lucky for me I was driving a pickup truck so his little Cadillac sedan just hit my wheel, it messed up his door, but not a scratch on my truck. Back to the story, when the light turned green I took off to go straight (in a forward no turns lane) and he (on my left in a no turns lane) turned right so when we collided i turned with him to lighten the collision and he almost put the right side of my truck into the grill of a large Metro Bus. When we stopped I got out and as there was no damage I was free to let him go but the whole time I was thinking "I should have reported him, this guy should not be driving ever again".

Solution/Moral of the story: If you ever have anything like this happen to you or you see it happen or maybe you just see an old person driving that should not be, call the DMV or the Police what ever the situation calls for and they will have to take all the tests written, Driving, sight.

Why is it when you are driving down a narrow road in LA, with cars parked on both sides of the road, people just stop in the middle of the road. They will wait for you to go around them, even though you can't fit because they're in the middle, but they aren't going to move. They are leaving it up to you to either make it past them or scratch up a parked car trying to squeeze by them. Or they will stop and wait for someone to come out of their house and they aren't ready yet, or drop someone off and do hugs and kisses, and they see you coming and they couldn't pull into a driveway or over to the side... no, they just stop in the middle and they actually make you stop and wait for them to finish and sometimes they will stay there until you lean on the horn.

Solution: Move out of the DAMN way.

The purpose of this blog is to hopefully change the way we live, think, and go through our everyday lives. Everyday we go through life and encounter unnecessary obstacles, now I don't feel life shouldn't have any obstacles, that would make life boring so to speak, but we could weed out some of the stressful and unnecessary obstacles. I moved to L.A., CA a few years ago and never realized how many incompetent people there were (now i am not saying everyone) in this world, how many people are going through life without any concern for others or awareness of others, how many feel they are above the rest of us. This Blog is kind of a reality check. I will post issues that we (meaning anybody) may deal with on a regular basis. I feel that the issue of incompetence can never be fixed if we never confront it. For example: there are too many bad drivers, now I don't know if it is bad drivers Ed teachers, or just people who don't get it like math. Other issues may be in relation to when you are at a register in a store, now you know you are going to have to pay for what ever has brought you to the register, so why do people wait until the last minute to dig out their wallet and if you know you are going to pay with a card why don't they already have it out (this is something that drives me crazy). They aren't just going to tell you at the register "your the lucky customer of the day, all your items are free!". So this blog is going to be a kind of stress/steam re-leaser for me and you the reader. I encourage any readers to post comments and thoughts or something they would like covered in the blog. I do not expect everyone to agree with my opinions or those of others and encourage their thoughts, but please if you have a difference of opinion or you have something negative to say, be respectful in your words and toss out any hatefulness.I hope this Blog will make you laugh and be get your brain running and change the way you or others around you go through their everyday life.
