Organize Your Craft Room – 8 Quick DIY Projects

There’s always a new idea or two that can help you organize your craft room and all those fabulous craft supplies you LOVE!  Every few months I have to organize a little more because I keep adding to my collection of craft goodies and projects. 

Good or bad, whatever…my twine, felt and other sparkly stuff makes me happy.  So, I am constantly on the hunt for creative ideas using items I might already have around the house or quick projects that take minutes to make a huge difference…you gotta love those!

{Mason Jar Craft Storage – It All Started With Paint}

This is an awesome idea for those little items that you don’t want to hide away in a drawer…not that I would do that!  Well, maybe I have a drawer full of tiny goodies with no home.  Crafty people aren’t always the most organized, right???

What a beautiful idea for keeping your twine out and easy to use!  I like just looking at this.  It makes me want to wrap a package all pretty with twine and a cute tag.

If you, in a daring and wishful moment, share your dream of making your living online with another person, you’re likely to get some less-than-helpful negativity.

Dream on, they say. Not gonna happen. Too good to be true. Even you supportive BFF might come back with a “helpful alternative suggestion”.

Too good to be true? Don’t believe it. Making a living through your Etsy Shop, or your blog, or any combination of the gazillion ways of making money online is totally and completely possible.

We’ve done it. Our work is entirely online for about two years now.

All the people in Etsy’s “Quit Your Day Job ” series have done it.

I heard from a blog reader recently who, after only two years, is looking at huge sales online. How huge? Approaching $100,000.00 per year huge . That’s pretty darn good. Especially after only two years.

Can you do it in two years? Maybe, maybe not. Can you do it in five? I’d bet on you. Can you do it in ten years, if you keep trying and don’t quit? I know you can. It’s a sure thing .

Compare that to your current situation. If you’re working for someone else, what are the chances they’ll be paying you six figures any time soon? I’m guessing not good.

So while it is true that some things really are too good to be true, such as the slightly unbelievable sale price in the picture above, be careful not to be to quick to throw that label on your incredible future. It is possible. It’s not even that complicated.

Here are the steps:

1. Start
2. Try hard
3. Learn from your mistakes
4. Try hard some more
5. Repeat steps 2-4 until you find a formula that makes money
6. Be open, learn, pay attention, stretch, reach.
7. Don’t Quit!

Over-simplified? Not so much. Those really are the steps. The trick is doing them!

Fat Quarter Shop is an extreme fabric shopper’s paradise!  That’s really not an exaggeration because they’re stocked with an amazing selection of designer fabrics that will make you want to sew, sew, sew…even if you don’t know how.  You might even want to mod podge your walls with it.  Whatever works for you. 

I happen to be able to sew to a degree.  I can’t say I’m an expert by any means because the thought of sewing something harder than a skirt makes me break out in hives.  But, one day I’d love to learn how to make fabulous colorful quilts for my family to snuggle up with on cold nights.  I admire anyone with quilting skills and secretly wish for someone to teach me and hold my hand through each step.

Score an A+ with this sweet teacher’s necklace!

Share your appreciation with a handmade gift that’s sure to touch any teacher’s heart like they’ve touched yours in the past year.  This necklace is simple and cute!  Create it with your child so they can customize it to fit their style.

Here’s the supplies you’ll need…

• Mod Podge {gloss}
• Scrapbook stickers
• Wooden circles
• Circle metal jewelry finding
• Colorful scrapbook paper {shown below}
• Basic Necklaces
• Paint
• Brushes
• Glue – E6000 {shown below}

These supplies can easily be found at your local craft store.  You might even have a few of these items at home already.

Start by painting your charm with a beautiful color.  You can sand it…or not.  I didn’t and it turned out fine.

Let it dry and paint a second coat.  Be sure to use thin coats and paint the edge.

Print out or type your saying on regular white copy paper.  Copy it and reduce the size to fit your charm. 

Then copy it on you textured scrapbook paper.

Once your charm is dry you can add your saying with a dab of Mod Podge. 

This will hold it in place while you work with it.

Wait a couple minutes and then apply a thick layer of Mod Podge to it. 

I went over the front and the edge of the charm. I only put one coat of Mod Podge.

Once your charm is dry you can add the jewelry finding the the back with your glue.  {This glue is very strong and only takes a drop.}

Let it dry a few minutes and then add a little something special.

I used a shiny button scrapbook sticker, but I glued it to the top.
