1. Add sour flavours to your diet – start the day with a glass of warm water with lemon in it to aid digestion

3. Eat bitter foods – these stimulate the digestive system and activate the flow of bile. Try artichoke, olives, radicchio, watercress, saffron, turmeric and green tea.

5. Eat fibre such as whole grains to help to cleanse the intestines

6. Eat essential fatty acids such as nuts, seeds and their oils as they aid the balance of fat metabolism.

7. Eat vitamin E rich foods such as avocado, sunflower seeds and soya as they help to prevent and reverse liver damage.

8. Eat calcium rich foods such as sesame, tahini and almonds as they help the liver to break down fat.

9. Eat sulphur rich foods such as garlic, onions, cabbage and eggs. They aid the liver in producing essential amino acids needed for protein synthesis.

10. Boost the action of digestive enzymes by chewing food slowly and not drinking whilst eating or when stressed.

11. Drink plenty of water to flush the kidneys, bladder and lymph of toxins

12. Go to bed before 11pm. According to Chinese medicine, the first part of the night is the most valuable for cleansing and regeneration.

13. Try dry skin brushing to release toxins through the skin

14. Take more exercise to boost your metabolism, re energise you and remove stress hormones from your body.

Deep cleanse inside

For a thorough internal spring clean, get juicing. Raw juice is alkaline which takes the pressure of your digestive system and is packed with anti oxidants, minerals and other vital nutrients. Here is my favourite Green Detox Juice Recipe:

Thoroughly wash and combine organically grown celery, kale, parsley, cucumber, lemon and spinach from your local farmers market and run them through your juicer. Not only is this juice refreshing and delicious, it is REALLY good for you.

Gentle stretching and deep breathing can help toxins to move through your system. Try a dynamic yoga class like ashtanga or bikram, or something more gentle like hatha or iyengar.

Before showering in the morning, use a body brush on dry skin to stimulate lymph system which improves the elimination of toxins and smooths the skin. Use broad strokes and work towards the heart.

Deep cleanse outside

Simplify your beauty routine and try to use as few products as possible. The average adult uses 10 products a day and is exposed to 126 chemicals, some of which have been found to accumulate inside the human body.

The aim was to enable us to be able to offer products like hand wash and hand cream which need a pump – which we have also extended to our body creams to make them easier to use. We’ve also taken on board your feedback about the products looking confusingly similar so we’ve tried to make the new design a little different on each pack to differentiate between similar products like a shampoo and conditioner. 

We’ve also taken the opportunity to make a few tweaks to our product range and some products have “reincarnated” with a new name and fragrance. We’ve done this to make the range a bit easier to shop and to make it clearer which products go together. We’ve also made it more obvious what each product is for and it’s main selling points. If you search for the previous product you purchased, you will find the new version of it comes up in the search results. Clear as mud?
