Still working about 60 hours a week, which doesn't leave much time for, well, much of anything really.

My fiance's Edsel is out for the season, but my Seville is partially disassembled in the garage, waiting for us to be able to finish taking it apart and prepping for paint before actually taking it in for paint. It's very discouraging just because of how sufferingly slow everything is going on it, but we did actually make a bit of progress last week.

I have the zipper for the last bag I made a few months ago pinned into place and waiting to be sewn in, but when I have the time I don't have the energy and when I have the energy I don't have the time. Horrid catch 22 really. I'm thinking of cutting back my hours at my day job to be able to set aside one day a week where I work on my business, just to get things picking back up since I've made a grand total of 3 bags since I started my day job in October.

I've had a little drama pop up, but nothing that warrants calling the end of the world.

But I wanted to fill everyone in since it had been so freaking long since I've done, well, much of anything. I truly believe that. Since I left high school I've had 3. And while I know 3 in 5 years isn't an extraordinary number, please keep in mind that the oldest of these 3 was maybe 23. It shouldn't happen. One of them died from natural causes, I believe it was leukemia. The next one drowned in a lake on his college campus when he was 20. Tonight I got a phone call from one of my exes to tell me that he thought I should know that one of our friends committed suicide this weekend.

I feel a little special knowing that somebody thought to tell me and I wasn't left to find out via Facebook like a lot of other people will, but still. I would rather have had that phone call be "hey, we're all getting together, you should come too."

Here's where I start to have more personal issues. No matter what I do, I will feel like a giant ass. If I don't say anything to his family or his facebook page (yes, tacky, but still, it's a more effective guest book than you might think), if I don't go to any of the services, I feel like an ass because I don't care. But if I do any of these things, I still feel like an ass because I'll be honest, I haven't seen him in a few years I think, but he still thought enough of me to invite me to his home on more than one occasion, and I feel that I should say something. But since I wasn't close with him at all, I feel like I'm one of the freshman who went to the funeral of the kid that died when I was a senior (I guess that makes that number 4. He had a heart attack), and these kids didn't even really know him. They knew who he was, but they didn't know him.

So I'm slightly torn. I've left my guest book comment, and I hear there might be a small gathering this Sunday. I plan to stop by, if only for a few minutes, just because we did share more than a passing hello in the hallway. I just hate that I feel bad about it.

Yes, bread. And a few miles after that I saw a container that could have been used to hold all of that bread. Now my question is, what the hell were you doing with this container of bread that you couldn't keep it all in the car? Why am I still looking at all this bread along the side of the road almost a month later?

The other day I was driving around and I want to elaborate on one of my original things I will never get: the issue with shoes on the side of the road. So today I was driving around and came across a tree with what had to have been about 8 pairs of shoes in it like they normally throw over phone wires. I actually managed to get a picture of this one, but still. Really? It's very hard to see, but they are in there!

What exactly is the point of a crotchless g-string? I've seen some advertised, but given that this poor excuse for underwear is already tiny as hell and can just be moved aside, what is honestly the purpose of adding an extra strap underneath and making that already tiny triangle even tinier?

How come when you're driving down the road and there's a sign in on the side of the road that's been knocked down, it's always facing the wrong direction, like somebody was practicing their driving before they go to England?

And that's really about all I can come up with for now. As always feel free to leave a comment if you think you have any answers :)

The entire point of the article was that they made the arrest of this man for texting while driving.

http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=351065&src=1

"Des Plaines police may have been one of the first to make an arrest on the new no-texting state law that took effect Jan. 1.

On Jan. 2, a police officer saw a car cross a solid white traffic line two times in one block and noticed that the driver was sending a text message on his cell phone, police said.

Terry S. Moore, 39, of the 200 block of East Oakwood Avenue, Des Plaines, was arrested around 4:25 a.m. on the 700 block of North River Road and charged with illegal use of electronic communications, driving under the influence of alcohol, felony aggravated DUI (based on two prior DUI convictions), driving while license and registration suspended, operation of uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage."

----------------

Ok, now for my rant. This man was allegedly pulled over for texting while driving, with the officer basically saying that the man swerved because he was texting.

Notice how much the rest of the charges get downplayed. Nevermind that this man was pulled over while driving an unregistered uninsured vehicle on a suspended license with 2 prior DUI's AND WAS DRUNK!!!!!! No, his texting was OBVIOUSLY the source of his swerving. Nothing to do with all the alcohol he had been drinking. But his texting.

Now I am perfectly willing to admit that texting while driving can be obscenely dangerous. But let's get practical here, so can a whole lot of other things.

Anybody ever eat anything while they've been driving? Dropped a fry by accident?

How about a can or bottle of soda, or water, or your thermos of coffee?

Ever drop your cigarette while driving? ( I know I have, it sucks). How about just lighting one?

Here's a good one for you, anybody ever change the radio station while you were driving?

All of those things can be just as dangerous as sending a text message while you're driving.

Now I'm not advocating that you text while driving, but you're going to do what you're going to do and no amount of gory videos I show you will change that probably. But there are things that can make it safer. Like for instance, if you have to read that text, wait til you hit a red light. Know your keyboard really well? They're just fantastic. This particular one I love because it can be worn just about everywhere from work to bumming around the house to going to that formal restaurant for date night. Anywhere you can think of, you could wear this necklace.

I couldn't resist adding this one to
the list of things I rave about. I love plaid and if you do too you'll love this bag as well. It measures just under a foot along the top, about 15" across the bottom, and about 14" straight down. You can literally use this bag for anything. Diaper bag, school bag, craft storage. Looking for a cute way to help the environment? Super cute reusable shopping bag!

Now remember that these are just a few of the fantastic things this awesome Mama offers, so make sure you head over and check out her shop. Well the most recent one I know I saw was for 2010, and here we are.

We are also just under a year away from my wedding! So that's another thing I'll be looking forward to this year, planning my wedding.

Other thing's I'm looking forward to this year include painting my car, being able to take my motorcycle out, and enjoying life.

I thought long and hard about resolutions and most years I just ignore the whole concept. But last year I made one that would have been a stretch for me and I did my best to stick to it. I fully intend to try and keep it up this year. This really tough one for me is to wear more skirts and dresses that end above my knee because I know that in reality I don't actually look anywhere near as ridiculous as I feel I do.

The other big one I'm shooting for this year is to completely forget about my fiance's ex, the one who made her summer hobby harassing me. This is a fresh year with a fresh start and I don't intend to let her take up any of my precious time.

That being said, I would love to know how all of you rang in the new year. I spent mine with my car club, having drinks and singing karaoke. It was a blast, I'm not going to lie. I only wish I didn't have to leave early to go in to work because I would have spent the night drinking and sleeping and had our VP make breakfast the next morning.

This year I'll be with my mom's side of the family celebrating the fact that we're all out of high school except for my cousin's son and therefore we no longer get gifts, but I don't care because we're all in one place.

So everybody, be safe, be warm, be happy, and have a great rest of the year!

Always,

Seville :)

As I remember more than two or three at a time, I'll let you all know! If you can think of any feel free to add them and they'll most likely end up in the next installment. If you've got an actual answer for one of these, post it, it'll get added too.

Ok, seriously this time, lol

1: How come the last set of keys put into my purse is never the one that's on top?

1. When you move your purse around the keys move around till they re-arrange themselves randomly.

2: One singular shoe on the side of the road. Any road. Seriously, what are you doing losing one shoe?

2. People like to throw shoes out of car windows/at cars.

3: Why wear skinny jeans if you're just going to sag them? Doesn't this kind of defeat the point of them being skinny jeans?

3. So you can have skinny and saggy jeans at the same time.

4: Why I'm always motivated to do just about everything BUT my homework

4. Homework is shit and it's not enjoyable.

5: Why I always seem to get motivation to do something 10 minutes before I have to leave for work or class

5. You don't like work or class so you try to put it off as long as possible, and you like to distract yourself with other things.

Now I never said all the answers were completely fantabulous, but somebody still took the time to think of these and I really appreciate that.

Now, for this week's round:

1: How come getting a tattoo or piercing or dying my hair seems to automatically mean a reduction in my IQ and my ability to handle people in a professional manner? Seriously, the color of my hair and the amount of holes in my face do not affect my ability to perform my job.

2: Why I can never find any pens, even though I buy and steal them from other people all the time.

3: Why the post office is only *really really* busy on the one day every now and then that I have to use the line to mail something out of the country.

4: Why jobs that get outsourced seem to drop so much in productivity. Seriously, I call you and tell you I'm broken down and not at my house, I've told you I'm not at my house 5 times already, you're still trying to send the tow truck to my house, why?

5: Why everybody seems to put off Christmas shopping til the last minute. Christmas is in 3 days. You'll probably see that title again in a few days when it's actually true, but as far as working for classes goes, I'm pretty much done. All that's left on this project I have to present tomorrow night is to let a few pieces finish drying, put down some border tape, and present it. And as long as my boards are halfway decent (trust me, they so are and I'll try to snap a few pictures for you) and I give this presentation and my speaking consists of more than "hi, my name is Sam, and I'm going to sit back down now" there's virtually no way I can fail.

You all seriously have no idea how excited I am about this. I show up tomorrow, give this presentation, then show up Wednesday and go over a few things then I am done with school forever.

The last 3 semesters have been my last and it's just so surreal that it's finally happening now!

The big major plus side is that I will have a few extra nights a week to be able to do things I want to do, like try and get some things done for my car, or maybe even, I don't know, work on my business, because I know that if I had the time to get a bit more done for it, make some things, get out a listing or two a week, I would be able to make something of it.

You know what else would be absolutely fantastic? Being able to get my inventory up enough to do a craft show. And then of course finding a craft show I can enter myself into and tell my crabby boss that he has to deal without me on a Saturday, I'm going to go sell my stuff!

I just thought I would share this little tidbit with all of you :)

This weeks installment brings you a few more of mine and one from a reader!

As will be the custom from now: If you've got some of your own, add them to the comments and they'll get posted in the next installment. Also, and this is a good one, if anybody has an explanation for any of these, that might also make it into the next installment if you post it in the comments :)

1: Superglue: Why does it have to go everywhere but where it should? I really dislike ungluing my fingers from themselves.

2: How come my car's gas tank will show me it has about 1/4 of a tank when in actuality it has closer to 1/4 of a gallon?

3: Why does all the cat hair in my friend's apartment only gravitate towards me when I'm wearing black?

4: Same thing with the feathers in my coat. I happen to wear black, and when I take my coat off, it's all covered in feathers.

5:How come my hair only styles well right after it's been dyed?

And a reader addition!

AlyGatr: I often wonder about tennis shoes I see thrown up on power wires. Then Wednesday I do a bit of Christmas shopping, and hang out in class that night. At some point before next Tuesday night I finish up another presentation and give that, in full business attire I might add (I wonder what my blue hair does for that mix). Next Wednesday is my last day of class. Ever. If you had any idea at all how excited I am about this, you would drive all the way out here and jump around with me, lol.

Although I think I'm actually looking more forward to going away with the fiance for the weekend to celebrate. We could both use some time away from my family. Not that there's anything wrong with my family. We just get fed up with my brother because he seems to think the world owes him everything simply because he's there. I hate to break it to him, it doesn't.

But yay for being so close to being done with school I can taste it!!

As I remember more than two or three at a time, I'll let you all know!

1: How come the last set of keys put into my purse is never the one that's on top?

2: One singular shoe on the side of the road. Any road. Seriously, what are you doing losing one shoe?

3: Why wear skinny jeans if you're just going to sag them? Doesn't this kind of defeat the point of them being skinny jeans?

4: Why I'm always motivated to do just about everything BUT my homework

5: Why I always seem to get motivation to do something 10 minutes before I have to leave for work or class

I think 5 is a good limit for now. Unfortunately, I've got a different one I have to give tomorrow night. I'm taking a quick break from gluing down pieces of wood and stone and fabric to give you this life-shattering update.

I was attempting to get a picture uploaded to facebook so I could show you what my project looks like right now, but I don't think my phone is going to cooperate. What a shame.

What I've got done so far is probably by far the most unprofessional looking project I've given since I started in the interior design program. My floor plan is held on with double stick tape and the edges area bit smooshed. I couldn't for the life of me find my fantastic glue at Meijer today, so I substituted for Liquid Nails, which I've never actually used before and let me tell you, the night before the big project is due is really not the time to start experimenting with what will and will not hold a piece of granite to matte board.

On top of all the tile and wood and pieces of fabric wrapped foam board, I've got Pepsi. Lots and lots of cans of Pepsi. It was the only thing I could find at work to try and weigh these things down a bit in the hopes that the glue might actually take.

I'm about half an hour away from removing a few cans to see what stuck and what didn't. If everything went well then I can put together the next board (which only has one piece of wood, go figure) and some paint chips that will also be double side taped down. Oh, and the pictures of furniture. Also with the double stick tape. If that doesn't work so well, I'll be going back to Meijer tomorrow and digging more for my awesome glue, and then using fabric books in one room to weigh everything down while I finish up this project and start another one in a different room.

I've still got some paperwork to go through, a speech to come up with (complete with outline I have to give my teacher so he can see that I followed it), and a few finishing touches. I figure as long as I'm genuinely putting forth an effort I think he'll pass me on everything. More because if he doesn't then he has to deal with me for a third semester and I don't think either one of us will be at all happy about that.

So if all goes well, in two weeks I'll be freaking out about my final presentation, and then getting ready for a relaxing weekend away with my fiance. I think we both deserve a little bit of time off before the holidays :)

Edit: I got the picture to facebook!

I spent literally a whole week trying to decide what I was going to make and then it hit crunch time: I was leaving work to stop home and pick up my supplies. And I STILL hadn't decided what to do.

I decided that I would change first, and then make up my mind. So I was digging through my closet looking for a shirt, and came across the reminder of why I hate putting laundry away. It never ceases to amaze me how many of my guy's ex's T-shirts ended up in my closet. And every time I do laundry I always end up finding them.

Well my options for what I could do with these shirts is to wear them, throw them away, or turn them into something. Now I do actually have on that I always ended up wearing while I worked on the car, so I got that one kinda dirty so I think I'll just end up keeping that one. Throwing them away, to me, kinda lets her win because "it bothers me that much to have them around." Now turning them into bags on the other hand, quite a mindf*ck for her should she ever see them, and also accomplishes the goal of getting me money and getting these shirts the hell out of my house, lol.

I could only find two Saturday night, but I know there are more lurking around somewhere. Anyway, these babies will be available for purchase on Etsy in the next few days, or if after looking at this grainy picture you decide you must own one now, feel free to email me at Seville83.etsy@gmail.com and we'll get something worked out, lol.

Each bag is made up like this: One strap that was the bottom of the shirt. A pink lining. Sort of a double pocket on each side inside that used to be sleeves. So one sleeve on one side, one on the other.

I hope you like them!

Also make sure to sign up for the mailing list if you want to hear about more fun things without always having to check back here!

Black Friday marks the end of Thanksgiving and the start of the Christmas frenzy.

We get all in a huff about people who put up Halloween decorations September 30 or earlier, so why don't we complain about people who put up Christmas decorations November 1? When all they really need to do is take down the spiders and ghosts and can leave the rest of the generic stuff.

So here's a quick reminder for everyone: Let's stop forgetting that there is a holiday between Halloween and Christmas. It's called Thanksgiving, and it's the day we give thanks for it being the first freaking holiday we had. A holiday about love and peace and all that good jazz. And it is there and deserves some freaking love too!

So turn off the Christmas albums (just for another week and a half, Snoopy Christmas will wait, I assure you), take down the Christmas lights, and bust out a turkey and get ready to give thanks!

And I'm talking the girls who get down and dirty with the guys. A woman managing a Midas is not quite as impressive as the woman who replaces radiators at the Midas, but still gets respect for being able to deal with those men all day long.

I deliver parts for Napa Auto Parts. I do this 5 days a week. And there are only two places I deliver to with women at them. One of them manages a Midas, and the other one works in the shop at another Midas. I still say rock on ladies.

The Napa I work for is part of 4 stores owned by the same person. Out of these four stores, two of them have female drivers. Out of those two stores, I am the only one at mine. My store had a female driver a while back, but I do personally know her, and she was kind of a bad fit for that position.

So I guess what I'm really getting at here is that at this point, there is no job reserved specifically for men, and that is a fantastic thing to see. There are more and more women getting down and dirty working on planes and cars. And the real women of lowriding I think I have the most respect for.

The women who pose with tools to look like they're working need to stfu and go away. I'm sorry, but you haven't been grinding away all the rust off your floor with that grinder not moving, I can see the plug for the outlet, and you're not dirty in the least bit. Shut up and go find something else to suck at.

But there are a lot of women out there who just need some encouragement to go out and do what makes them happy in these fields. So let's make it our jobs to encourage them.

So to you, lady mechanics and lady lowriders: Keep on doing your thing. We love and respect you for everything you do. Keep up the hard work ladies!

You can find me as ScandalusSeville83 on www.LayItLow.com and also on my car club's web page (which I did the layout for) at http://www.luxuriouschicago.com/

Go ladies!!

It had leather seats, power windows and locks, a cord that went right from my radio into my iPod, and the coolest yellow flashy light on the roof. But as much as I loved my Jeep, I did not love 15 miles to the gallon.

So I had to suck it up and part ways with it. Which made me very sad to do, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

So I found this. This fantastic sea-foam blue gas-sipping $h!tbox (as I affectionately call it). This is my brand new 1987 Chevy Celebrity. I haven't been able to calculate its gas mileage just yet, but I already know it's a whole heck of a lot more than what my Jeep got. (And at this point I've moved the iPod cord and the fantastic flashy light over). And little by little this car is becoming more and more 'me'. I had an aviator mobile hanging from my rearview mirror. That got moved over. 4 pairs of aviator sunglasses hang from my high school tassle. Harder to lose my sunglasses that way! lol

So as much as I hate to have parted with my Jeep, I do think I made the right decision here. Here's hoping this new car can get me across the country as many times as my Jeep did. :)

When I got it it was so wonderful. The scent is really strong without being overpowering, like the next day I still smell like it (fantastic!). It doesn't leave my hands feeling all greasy, and I find that it works great for everywhere but my hands for some odd reason.

So anyway, after I started using this, I decided I had to get some for stocking stuffers. Insert the Limited Edition Pumpkin Cupcake and Moonlight Path body creams. My sister gets the pumpkin and my brother's girlfriend gets moonlight.

But the real reason I'm writing this up real quick is the freebie she very amazingly threw in with my order. The first order it was this adorable little fishbone soap. Smelled like blackbery vanilla. (If it wasn't you, I'm terribly sorry, I just love that little soap so much I won't let anyone use it, it decorates my bathroom :D)

Anyway, with this order I got one of these Juicy Berry Hemp Balm Lip Lovin guys. This is by far the best homemade chapstick I've ever used and I had to spread the word!

It smells great, but it tastes like regular old chapstick with just a tiny hint of flavoring, which is really just your nose playing tricks on you. This is amazing because I can't tell you how much of my flavored chapstick I go through because it has a flavor so I'm more prone to keep licking my lips and just need more and more.

Another thing is how often I have to reapply. Normally I'm after the tube again after about 20 minutes or so, which then just ends up leaving a residue I'm wiping off with Kleenex later. But I put some of this on about 4 pm when I got home from work. Now at 8 pm I could use a little bit more. Unfortunately I left it at home when I left for my night job, but I eagerly await my chance to use it again later tonight.

And that has been my quick review. I hope you all have enjoyed it. I don't do things quite like that all that often. :)

Two fairly grainy pictures in, and her camera dies as well. My current theory is that I'm not meant to list this bag for a while. Which really stinks because I think it will be a huge hit!

So my next working theory is that the best way to make my charger reappear is to buy a new one. So I did that. I'm really hoping it shows up before Saturday, because I'm going to a friend's wedding and I think the coolest thing ever would be to be able to stop at Walgreens between the ceremony and reception and get an 8x10 of their first kiss. Which I'll be able to do if I have a camera.

I might also borrow my mom's or my sisters just to have a smaller (I have a Nikon D50 with the 55-200mm lens on it, rather bulky at times) camera to take pictures with of us just goofing around.

But for now I'll sit here at work and let my nail polish finish drying I guess ;)
