Colours
To start things off typical colours featured in this trend would usually be vibrant and bright. Clashing of colours would work great combining a blue with white and red or orange. The colours often tend to be inspired by the landscape; imagine blue and greens for the ocean, bronze, gold and yellows for the sand and rich orange and reds for the sunshine.
Decorating
When it comes to decorating with a Moroccan theme you pretty much have the flexibility to do whatever you like. One of our favourite Moroccan styles is the minimalist feel, think simple furnishings combined with tons of decorative accessories. If you’re going for a stripped back approach be sure to use lots of textures in the form of rugs, throws and cushions. Minimalist themes can be given a touch of luxury from metal lanterns, sequin soft furnishings and decorative engraved ornaments.
If you’re after something a little more eye catching combining lavish furniture such as a console table or sofa with accessories such as a rug, cushions and table lamps will create an exciting space bursting with energy. The clashing of bright bold colours and patterns would work extremely well in these environments, don’t be afraid to feature both embroidered patterns with mosaic ceramics to create an authentic Moroccan look.
If you want to add a subtle Moroccan feel selecting some key pieces such as a vase, a runner rug or statement cushions are ideal. Mosaic designs such as mirrors, lanterns and ornaments are typical Moroccan inspired accessories and offer beautiful intricate designs that can have a large impact in your space.
Outdoor Living
With Moroccan interior taking inspiration from the natural landscape it’s no surprise that this theme also works exceptionally well in any outdoor space. Dress your outdoor table with Moroccan style candle lanterns and tableware with geometric patterns and bold colours. ]]>The question is; how do we style a bedroom mirror? If you’re working with a small bedroom space one mirror may be quite enough so as not to overpower your room. So do we go for a full length leaner mirror or a freestanding dressing table mirror or perhaps a wall mirror?
We’re going to share some of our favourite customer images to show you just some of the ways mirrors can be used in a bedroom space.
Over A Dressing Table
Possibly one of the more obvious ways to use a mirror in the bedroom is to sit one on top of your dressing table. We recently collaborated with Steph from Blog Bay Bee and loved how she’d used our Hetti sunburst mirror, mounted on the wall, sitting slighting above her dressing table.
We love this look and it’s perfect for customers who are short on floor space as you can neatly fit a slim console table against your wall like the one featured below.

Behind Your Bed
If your headboard will let you, another great way to style a mirror is behind your bed. Your bed is more than likely going to be the opposite side to your door so featuring a mirror here is a perfect way to instantly demand attention as soon as anyone enters the room.
Depending on your décor round mirrors, ornate frame mirrors and rectangular glass framed mirrors would all work extremely well above a bed. The shot we chose below creates a wonderful French boudoir feel with the ornate headboard and mirror complementing each other perfectly.

Opposite Your Bed
If you’re short on space in your bedroom and all you can fit is your bed with just enough room to walk around, you may be left with a plain empty wall that you’re struggling to do anything else with. This wall is the perfect opportunity to feature a mirror, not only will it add interest it will also help create the illusion of space.
This customer demonstrates this perfectly in the shot below with the large glass framed mirror projecting the light beautifully around the room. Featuring the mirror landscape can also help increase the feel of depth and space.

Leant up Against A Free Wall
If you’ve got a free wall with enough floor space available, a full length, freestanding cheval mirror or a leaner style is the perfect shout. Not only do these mirrors create a wonderful centrepiece they also provide a full length reflective area to get dressed in.
Leaner mirrors have become exceptionally popular for use in bedroom. Most of our full length mirrors can be wall mounted or leant up against the wall however we’ve seen many customers using the leaner style to add a touch of modern elegance to their bedroom.
This shot below demonstrates this perfectly with the mirror sitting beautifully against the wall, again depending on your décor here a range of full length mirrors could be used such as the more modern glass framed or decorative, ornate French style.

Behind Your Bedside Table
We recently worked with Kate from Fabric of my Life blog who featured our curved edge black leaner mirror in her bedroom makeover. When we received the shots we absolutely loved how she had positioned the mirror just behind the bedside table creating an effective focal point that was still subtle and chic.

In this post we’ll talk you through some of the questions to ask yourself before placing a mirror order and some handy tips that should give you a better idea on the actual size of the mirror you’re purchasing.
Where is the mirror going?
So the first question to ask yourself is; where do I want the mirror positioned in my home? More often than not a wall mirror will be used in a dining room, hallway, living room or bedroom. Typically an average sized rectangular mirror is around 120 x 80cm. Our rectangular mirror sizes do vary but for a medium sized design something around this size would be suitable and should not overpower a medium sized living space. Similarly with round mirrors an average size mirror would be around 89cm in diameter, we have varying other sizes both smaller and larger than this.

A handy tip we learnt from interior designers in the past is that generally people with a small space shy away from larger sized mirrors as they think the mirror may overpower the living space. In actual fact a large mirror can sometime be a better option as the reflective area is able to project the light and reflect it around your room, creating the illusion of increased space. Don’t be scared to experiment with the positioning of the mirror too, if you have a small space try utilising it by placing the mirror either horizontal or vertical. Many of our rectangular mirrors can be positioned either way and the majority of our leaner mirrors can also be mounted on the wall therefore taking up little floor space.
Full length and extra-large mirrors as well as cheval mirrors all offer full length reflective areas. These large oversized mirrors are generally used in bedrooms or dressing rooms and can create a stunning focal point (we’ve also seen these style mirrors used beautifully in living rooms and dining rooms too!) These mirrors can range from 160cm to 200cm in height which is around 5ft 2inches to 6ft 5inch which is a pretty large mirror! Often these mirrors also have ornate, decorative frames therefore if you’re after something perhaps a little more understated a cheval mirror may be the best option. Cheval mirrors are generally tall, sleek and freestanding meaning they can be moved around, yet also offer the functionality of a full length reflective area.

What is the true size of the mirror?
Having a basic idea of the size of your mirror is key to ensuring you don’t get any nasty shocks when the mirror is delivered to your home. After you’ve selected the perfect place for you mirror to go, and you’ve found a mirror design you like the look of, we recommend measuring out the size of the mirror on your wall. A good idea is to map out the sizing of the mirror with a plain piece of paper and some blue tack marking each corner on the wall, allowing you to get a true feel for the mirror’s size. This is especially important when it comes to areas such as over your fireplace where you may be limited in height, therefore ensuring the size of the mirror will seamlessly fit is extremely important.

]]>We did a bit of research and came across some interesting finds as to where the love heart symbol may have originated from.
Brief Look Back At The Heart Symbol:
The first piece of information we found was that Egyptians believed that the human heart was a moral compass, whilst in Ancient Greece the belief was that the human heart was thought to contain one's soul.
Soon enough we started seeing more and more people draw connections between the human heart and love. Looking back at medieval tapestry and art the love heart symbol began appearing as a symbol of love. Suitors would offer their heart to a lady as a symbol of romance and commitment.
In England Valentines Day celebrations took off around the 17th Century where poems and love notes became the "in thing" to do, and so the heart shaped symbol became a keeper!
Today we see heart shapes everywhere and not just around Valentines day. We've got heart shaped wall art, accessories, sweets and you can pretty much cook anything you like in the shape of a heart.
We wanted to share our favourite kind of love heart with you all, and of course we're not biased (ok maybe a little bit) ... the HEART SHAPED MIRROR!
