Writer/Director William Brent Bell mentioned that "we try to do this mix of fact and fiction to make people think that what they're watching is real" (Cook, 2012, William Brent Bell third interview dialogue). In a past documentary film course, we watched and analyzed many documentary films. Several of the documentary films featured staged scenes to recreate the true events.

The sports documentary Hoop Dreams is a real documentary about two young adolescents who had aspirations to become professional basketball players. This type of documentary film is real. It follows the life of two real life people as well as their families and hometown. The Devil Inside movie is not a real documentary, instead the film is a Hollywood movie shot outside of America to build awareness on exorcisms, demons, and evil.

Producer Morris Paulson noted that happy endings are not always the case, informing movie fans that "Sometimes the Devil wins" (Cook, 2012, Morris Paulson interview second dialogue). Paulson only shared two sections of dialogue in the interview. Bell and Peterson provided the majority of the information in the Collider interview.

The risky movie ending was a collective decision to do something different. It appears the movie ending angered moviegoers, though the trick worked to make people discuss negative aspects of the exorcism movie and to engage in conversion about the movie. Negative press is just as effective as positive attention. Bad movies performed great a the box office. The Devil Inside movie is a decent exorcism movie that makes people think whether demons and the Devil are capable of possession humans.

The Isabella Rossi character (Fernanda Andrade) has performed in previous Hollywood films such as Fallen (2006), Why am I doing this?, For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story (2000) and other movies. The main movie cast are established actors and actresses. However, the actors are not Hollywood A-listers.

You probably viewed the Yahoo answers page in which one person attempted to make the previous answers look foolish. They neither answered the movie facts. The commenter claimed that Maria Rossi is an actual person who murdered priests. Their facts are skewed since the actual footage is not real. They did nonetheless make a good comment regarding Anneliese Michel's misleading death due to dehydration.

According to excerpts from Unity Publishing, Anneliese accepted her fate to withdrawal from the exorcisms. The Virgin Mary gave Anneliese two choices. She accepted the second choice to continue the possession but die a peaceful death. The demons would be released prior to her predicted death.

Nonetheless, there is truth to the content incorporated in The Devil Inside movie. The filmmakers conducted interviews and even sent the screenplay to the Rome Church for expert review. The Church refused to endorse the movie as proof to exorcisms and demon possession. The Church's rejection to stamp their approval is the main reason you see the mention of the Church not validating the movie in the opening credit.

The Devil Inside movie is inspired by true events. The exorcism of Anneliese Michel is a real event that occurred in 1975. The Exorcism of Emily Rose is based on the Anneliese Michel exorcism murder trial. Maria Rossi is an actual adolescent murderer who along with another friend brutally murdered an elderly neighbor. Perhaps, the Maria Rossi character is another past person who actually murdered three people. But in the case of exorcisms, there is actually a first televised exorcism in America.

The first televised exorcism is performed on a 16-year old girl from Wellington, Florida. According to Schneider (1991), the exorcism is like watching the 1973 The Exorcist movie all over again. It is an eerie real life depiction of the possible truth concerning demonic possession. The exorcism of Gina was extremely and disturbing. The girl never displayed extraordinary supernatural powers. She could levitate in the air, as the Church identifies as one of the four signs of a demonic possession.

Gina eventually recovered once future medical treatment and therapy to calm the voices (Schneider, 1991). The Devil Inside movie depicted Maria Rossi as a multiple demonic possessed woman who murdered three Church servants while undergoing an exorcism. There is truth to the exorcism performed in The Devil Inside movie. The real life exorcism of Anneliese Michel took place in 1975.

Anneliese Michel was born in German on September 21, 1952. The young girl was raised as a devout Catholic. Anneliese underwent psychological care to treat her mental condition classified as epilepsy. However, an autopsy of Anneliese's brain showed no decay or progression associated with epilepsy suffers (Unity Publishing). The exorcism of Anneliese Michel is depicted in The Devil Inside movie as the Maria Rossi exorcism to demonstrate the evil from within the possessed.

One eerie aspect of the Anneliese Michel exorcism case began as age 17 with symptoms such as "unusual seizures happening during the night, which involved her body suddenly becoming rigid, the sensation of an enormous weight on her chest, paralysis, and inability to speak" (UnityPublishing.com, par. 6). As a firm believer in her Catholic religion, Anneliese felt an evil presence in her body that required immediate attention (Unity Publishing). She would experience an uneasy feeling whenever approaching sacred religious artifacts. Furthermore, it is noted that medical drug intervention while undergoing an exorcism disrupted the outcome. The possessed must focus on removing the demons from within their soul. The lack of concentration while undergoing an exorcism can impact the process.

The Church eventually approved Anneliese's exorcism. She received the "weekly exorcism sessions" which involved the 17th century "full Rituale Romanum" (Unity Publishing, par. 15). Anneliese claimed the evil from within her mind began to command her to do bad things. She struggled to resist the voices.

The Devil Inside depicted Maria Rossi speaking in multiple languages at one time, displaying her intense supernatural powers and showing her resistance from religious artifacts. Anneliese also duplicated the same aggression. She withdrew from religious crosses, monuments, and images which communicated her faith. The Church denied Anneliese further exorcisms to treat her possible demonic possession.

Anneliese essentially went insane at home. Her violent behavior toward others as well as herself persisted. The Church finally approved the exorcism of Anneliese Michel. According to the Unity Publishing, Bishop of Wurzburg, Josef Stangl authorized two priests to undergo "The Great Exorcism" (par. 20). The sweet Anneliese decided to accept choice number #2. Ironically, Anneliese predicted her exact time of death on July 1, 1976 (Unity Publishing, par. 26). The Virgin Mary conveyed to Anneliese that the demons would be freed soon before she had passed, enabling her to leave her physical body in peace.

Anneliese is deemed as a strong believer who sacrificed her life to save many people from the wrath of Hell. The Anneliese Michel exorcism true story resembles Jesus making the sacrifice to save humans from their sins. How many people would accept a proposition to remain possessed to help others to lead a better life. Anneliese was only 23 years old when she died of complications.

Possessed display aggressive behavior. Possessed pets can be misdiagnosed as mentally ill. Moreover, possessed pets are assumed to be carrying rabies. We remember watching Atticus Finch shoot down a rabies infected dog. The Quarantine movie depicted the deadly rabies virus turning humans into zombie carnivores. Dogs and rodents can carry the lethal rabies virus.

In the face of the Devil, there are no coincidences. The Devil comes in all shapes and forms. He wreaks havoc on those who refuse to acknowledge their sins. John Erick Dowdie's Devil movie shows that the worst people on Earth can be forgiven. Devil movies teach humans that no soul is safe, though confessing sinners nonetheless escape the Devil.

A group of people are drawn together into an elevator. Three men and two women ride the elevator. All of a sudden the elevator breaks down. Outside of the building, Detective Bowden (played by Chris Messina) investigates a mysterious suicide. Is it a coincidence the dead victim is holding a rosary in their hand?

Moments prior, Detective Bowden reveals his lack of faith derived from a hit and run accident that killed his wife and son five years earlier. The culprit left a note, "I'm so sorry" on his wife's car. A guard (Bookeem Woodbine), a young beautiful woman (Bojana Novakovic), salesman (Geoffrey Arend), old woman (Jenny O'Hara), and mechanic (Logan Marshall-Green) meet their fate.

Strange things begin to occur in the elevator. Thus, the elevator occupants die off one by one. Security guard Ramirez (Jacob Vargas) senses the Devil is at work because every event on that particular day points to judgment day. The sinners in the elevator will meet the Devil up close and personal. In the form of a deceased occupant, the Devil confronts the mechanic. He represents the last victim that survives in the elevator. The mechanic confesses his sin of killing a wife and son in a hit and run accident.

Detective Bowden realizes Ramirez is right about the Devil. It is no accident the Devil is making an example out of the sinners. Bowden accepts the task to transport the mechanic to jail. He tells the young man that he has waited for that moment for 5 years to tell him all the bad things he wanted to do to the person who took his family. Bowden forgives the young man who killed his wife and son.

The Devil movie is a religious movie that shows the Devil works in mysterious ways to confront sinners. Satan knows the bad things that people have done, so forgiveness represents a force stronger than evil itself. Moviegoers complained the movie ending ruined the entire movie. Filmmakers and the screenwriter seemed to rush the movie ending in the same way as The Darkest Hour movie. We expected to see a movie ending with some sort of resolution. However, The Devil Inside movie ending left moviegoers hanging.

Moviegoers complained about the movie ending, mentioning they wanted a refund. You could hear the sighs of disbelief radiating throughout the movie theater. Have you ever watched a movie that ended before resolving the plot? The Devil Inside is one of those movies that reaches near a climax, and then just stops. If The Devil Inside was a sexual encounter, both parties would extremely disappointed.

He removes his seat-belt, and then crashes into another car. Isabella, Ben, and the cameraman die in a vicious car accident. The movie credits begin rolling.

We have a movie ending that seemed would end with one last exorcism to free the demon from Isabella. Instead, we are left hanging with a bad movie ending with no clear resolution. The Devil Inside hooked us, making the expected resolution an exited movie ending.

Ending The Devil Inside with a car accident is an ineffective way to resolve the plot. The Darkest Hour movie ending also tricked moviegoers with a bad ending. The two movies released two weeks apart show that filmmakers misunderstood basic dramatic structure. In retrospect, the exorcism movie delivered a bad movie ending.

The sold out 10:20PM showing of William Brent Bell and Joaquin Perea's The Devil Inside movie proved to be extremely popular. Moviegoers waited in a long line that wrapped around the middle of the movie theater and on all the way to the front entrance. The Devil Inside movie is an exorcism movie that injects fear into moviegoers who enjoy a good scare on a Friday night. With a running time of 87 minutes, the movie moves rather quickly to the final climatic scene.

Maria Rossi (played by Suzan Crowley) calls 911 to report a gruesome murder. The 911 operator learns that Maria brutally murdered three Church servants. Disturbing footage from within the home reveals three bloody bodies. The police take Maria into custody, where her sinister stare from inside the police car spooks the movie audience. Is this woman possessed by demons or is she a nut case who snapped?

Maria's super hot daughter Isabella Rossi (played by sexy Brazilian Fernanda Andrade) made me forget the movie was about an exorcism. Isabella resembles a younger version of Jennifer Lopez, who hypnotizes male moviegoers with her natural beauty. While Isabella speaks to the cameraman, we immediately discover The Devil Inside movie chooses to explore a documentary filmmaking style to create realism in exorcisms.

Isabella travels to Italy to investigate her mother's past. She attends the Church's Exorcism school to mine for facts about demonic possessions. In that moment in time, the Exorcist teacher shows the room a videotape of a woman which sparks a debate regarding whether she is possessed or mentally insane. It is revealed that multiple demonic possessions are possibly in the possessed.

Isabella interviews the Priests to gain an understanding of an exorcisms. The foreign accents make for a rather interesting tone, giving The Devil Inside some authenticity to depict the world capital of Exorcist teaching. Isabella learns that her mother is more troubled than she anticipated. Maria knows that Isabella terminated her pregnancy due to complications. Moreover, the mother shows cut wounds on her forearms and on her lower lip.

Ben (Simon Quarterman) and David (Evan Helmuth) convince Isabella to attend an unauthorized exorcism to experience the process firsthand. Isabella agrees to take part in a young woman's exorcism. The eerie exorcism shocks the hell out of the team, though the Exorcists manage to free the young woman from her demonic possession.

The most challenging exorcism (Maria multiple demonic possession) exposes the entire Exorcist team to the demons living inside Maria for the past 20 years. To avoid spoiling The Devil Inside movie plot, the unorthodox bending, crawling, foul language, inverted crosses, and mighty superpowers displayed in The Devil Inside movie lead moviegoers to an abrupt movie ending.
