Dear Expanded Lovemakers,

Have you heard the one where the Zen Monk goes to New York City and orders a hot dog from a vendor? He says, “Make me one with everything”. The vendor makes him a hot dog and takes his money. The monk expects his money back and when he doesn’t get it says, “Where’s my change?” “Ah”, says the vendor “Change comes from within.”

This joke reveals how we much expect the right thing to happen at the right place and time. The same event becomes funny when it’s the right thing at the wrong time.

Aren’t we all just chock-full of thousands of judgments about what’s right and wrong? What if we could just dump those judgments and enjoy every moment – especially during sex?

How cool would that be, since, when it comes to sex and pleasure, right and wrong events usually do not lead to harmless laughter, but often to more serious developments, like shutting down, embarrassment, trauma, hurt, and fear. Plus, we quit having fun with sex.

Have you got lots of judgments right this very nano-second about sexuality – yours, mine, and everyone else’s? Are you wondering, “Wow. I’d love to drop my judgments about sex. But how?”

Can You Come Just Thinking About It?

Hi, I am Dr. Patti Taylor of www.Expandedlovemaking.com.

I grew up with mottos like, “What you see is what you get”. “Seeing is believing”. “If you can’t feel it, it isn’t real”.

This kind of thinking means that an orgasm we are having in our head alone isn’t really happening to us, even if it happens to be feeling really amazingly delicious!

This type of rationale goes on a fender-bender when thousands of people start reporting “inner-mind/body” orgasms (which I guess are the opposite of out-of-body experiences, you might say!).

As you may have noticed I am offering more these days. Why? We teach what we need to learn, I always say. So what is there to learn about making love, and using this information to go into expanded orgasmic states, you might ask of me, since I probably do it more than almost anyone I know?

Everything. It’s not about what is being taught. It’s about being in the experience. Each gathering is like a sacred puja, or ceremony, where we use our collective energies to raise one another, and ourselves, and our awareness, in order to expand our bliss and bliss consciousness to places we never dreamed possible. And that is always an infinite journey.

I just love Living Dialogs! It’s a podcast on the Personal Life Media Network. I literally await each week’s show with true curiosity. What has Duncan Campbell created for us this week?

Every podcast has a way of changing my life. They are that good! But recently, Joseph Chilton Pearce has been on for three whole shows, talking about culture, violence, children, the language of the heart, how it connects to the brain, and the biology of transcendence.

What do I love? Okay, it’s academic in parts. But Pearce lays it all out:
We are universally divine, but with cultural overlays, are “programmed” to forget this, and to embrace violence… and of course, this will show up in our lovemaking as well as in our children and all other aspects of our society.

This information tracks perfectly with what I teach — and believe — about learning to become a better lover. Underneath it all, we are have the potential to become precious, fabulous lovers, just waiting for a chance to express ourselves and learn how to love even more.

Pearce’s explanations about what we can do about our cultural conditioning… not what you may think… are refreshing and inspiring. And mind-opening.

Heather and Robert’s interview moved me deeply. I am so glad to release it, because it is such a message of inspiration for all of us.

So many marriages are not making it to the long-term any more. You have less than a fifty-fifty chance of staying married 25 years.

Lack of a gratifying sex life is often a major reason. So guess what turns things around?

Heather and Robert, in a long-term marriage, bravely share with us their journey, start from a stale-mated sex life a year ago. Misunderstandings abound, while feelings are brittle and easily hurt.

Oooh, Yes, Talk to Me, Baby

There’s so much I want to cover this week with my clients, some of whom have come hundreds or even thousands of miles to see me. Today, I want to talk about talking. Talking is not a topic in itself, any more than breathing or eating. Talking is simply something that must occur. It is the lubricant of the breakthrough process itself.

For the longest time, I never said a word during sex. Sometimes it was because I didn’t know what to say; other times, I didn’t want to spoil the moment, or hurt my partner’s feelings. Even when my partner would repeatedly encourage me to talk, I would be grateful—yet, I could not, I would not, trust that he was sincere.

“Sure”, I thought, “You think you want to hear what I am saying. But you don’t, not really. If you did, you’d hear an ongoing stream of judgments, complaints, and comparisons, mixed in with general confusion, self-focus, and fear. Trust me….

I am still remembering, quite silently to myself, the old days, and those thoughts: You really don’t want to know. Maybe, maybe, if I knew what to say, or ask for, I would, but I don’t.

And yet, for all my inner dialog, I would also add, still silently, “but please, please, don’t give up asking, I want you to care, I want you to know, I want one day to figure out how to escape from this prison of silence. It’s just that right now, I have no idea how to leave.

Please don’t stop asking me what I want! Who knows, maybe one day, I’ll really figure it out.”

So, for all you strong, silent types out there, here’s my request: learn how to be the strong, communicative type for the one you love. Learn to ask her (or him) questions!

We shy, don’t-know-quite-how-to-ask-for-all-the-delicious-pleasures-we-are-craving, may just be craving the day that you do, so that we can learn to figure out to tell you.

I know I did, and so have lots of others. Learning how to ask, and answer questions, verbally, coupled with some “show and tell”, was a key part of the breakthrough process for me and many of the couples that we work with.

Singles bars just don't seem to be the optimal atmosphere for heart-full connection, where people meet just as they are, seeing deeply into one another, in the moment.

Will You Join Us on the Path of Pleasure?

I say this because the path of pleasure is a confrontive one sometimes. In our society, we are conditioned to choose pain over pleasure.

Fortunately, lots of people still want to learn how to have pleasure!

I just got back from New York City where I talked over a period of five days on the subjects of Kashmiri Shaivist Tantra, Expanded Orgasm, pleasure, consciousness, and bliss.

The response was incredible. Why? I believe men and women are hungry to go deep in their practice for pleasure. And, because, the path of pleasure is profound.

At my conference, other speakers spoke of using sex and Tantra as a way to heal pain. While I believe these speakers will always have the following, I could never teach such information. I have been in a lot of pain myself. And I have found that going into pain, for me, as a path, has always lead to more pain.

The only way to experience pleasure, and then more pleasure, is to toggle - that is, discreetly switch - my mindset out of pain, and then into some feeling of joy and gratitude. That is my beginning foundation to a path of pleasure.

(And yes, you can learn how to do this!) I teach this and so do others, many of whom come on this show.

The path of pleasure leads to bliss in our bodies and ecstasy in our spirits.

Where I get too feminine, can I can look to see where qualities of strength and clarity can bring me into a gorgeous kind of “felt sense” of ecstatic balance?

And, can I do this without falling into any judgment of myself in any way? Loving myself in all my expressions of myself ?
