Normally I’m not a big fan of posting rumors but this one has me a little excited. Perhaps I should spell it rumours… Baz Bamigboye from The Daily Mail has alluded to the fact that Christopher Nolan, the director of Memento and the rebooted Batman films, has been approached to direct the next Bond film.

Nothing is set in stone but I would love this. When I heard Sam Mendes was up to direct Skyfall I was excited, and now this is one of those rumors that I hope pans out.

I like the this new poster for Catching Fire.  I really get the feeling of the old school type of posters that they used to have. The newest film due out this fall follows Katniss Everdeen as she has now won the hunger games and returns to district 12 plus more that I won’t spoil.

I read all three books and the first was by far my favorite and by the third they had lost a lot for me. I’m sure the film will do well regardless.

I only ever saw Vin Diesel’s first Riddick film Pitch Black, I never saw the sequel The Chronicles of Riddick.  It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great it was a decent popcorn flick. I know it’s been a long wait for fans of the series but the new film is due out in September.

I’m not really sure if this video is a viral video that was found or if it’s a leaked video. The big 055 in the center seems to allude to the latter but via this video we get our first look into Disney’s Frozen due out this fall. Honestly I’m a little surprised we haven’t seen anything yet. Maybe they are just trying to keep the buzz up for Monster’s University.

If the video is leaked I don’t suspect it will be around for long. Here’s to hoping it’s a viral video, seems like a fun way to do it.

I’m not going to say too much about The Cabin in the Woods but it was one of my favorite movies from last year and it’s streaming on Netflix. I’m not normally a big horror fan, maybe that’s why I liked it so much.  It definitely takes the genre to a different level. A friend who loves any and all horror movies didn’t like it, at all. Take that for what it’s worth. Read on for a little more nonspoiler-y info.

I can’t say too much and I’m not even going to link a trailer but if you think you might enjoy a horror film that plays with the genre itself The Cabin in the Woods might be for you.

The film comes from the mind of Joss Whedon and long time collaborator Drew Goddard.

Normally I don’t beg for comments but I would be really be interested in knowing what you thought about the film, whether or not you are a horror fan and how much you had heard about the film prior to watching it.

Eli Roth has definitely made a name for himself in the horror genre with two amazingly popular brands, Hostel and Cabin Fever.  Roth also, apart from directing and producing, has jumped to the other side of the camera most notably in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds where he played Sgt. Donowitz or ‘the bear ew’.

Speaking on when a character loses a fingernail, etc.

I do. It’s the Evil Dead theory. The most painful death in the movie isn’t the evisceration, it’s the pencil in the ankle. The fingernail is my pencil in the ankle. Nobody knows what a decapitation feels like, but we’ve all had a papercut.

Roth would “cry with joy” at seeing a muppet remake of Inglorious Basteds with Fozzie as the bear jew.

He enjoys learning classical piano when not filming… not sure whether to take this as something serious or sarcasm…

When asked about the people who are the best in the industry while saying there are too many to list, he said a little…

James Cameron, Quentin, Del Toro, Peter Jackson, too many to name. Christoph Waltz.

Roth would love to make a comedy, a “ridiculous comedy”.

I agree that every single movie doesn’t need to be remade but if Point Break had to be, these might be some good choices for a director. After yesterday’s release of the poster for Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity we were told we would see the first trailer today. This film is definitely on the list of anticipated films this year. I’ve been pretty impressed with Cuaron’s work and I’m looking forward to his latest.

Wow there are too many big names in Lee Daniels’ The Butler to count. Take a look at the IMDB page for the full list of actors in the film.  Based on the real life story of Eugene Allen a butler in the white house that served eight different presidents. Forest Whitaker stars as Allen and Oprah Winfrey as his wife but that’s just the start.

Admittedly the film spans many years so all these people won’t be featured for any extended amount of time but it looks like an interesting flick.
