Taliesin West’s 75th Anniversary

One of Scottsdale’s prized possessions in Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West. This architectural masterpiece was built out here in the desert when Arizona was only in its mid-twenties. Arizona in celebrating its 100th birthday this year and Taliesin West is celebrating its 75th.

So whether you are an architectural student, professional or just into cool places and cool spaces, make a trip out to celebrate with us. There is no shortage of events going on to commemorate the anniversary. Daily tours are available almost every day of the year between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. It’s a must see attraction.

22nd Annual Celebration of Fine Art

Not only is Celebration of Fine Art a three-month long art festival in North Scottsdale where you can buy some great art from top-notch artists. But is also a live demo of how this great art is created. Each and every day of the show, January 14 – March 25, you can go and watch over a hundred artists create right before your eyes. You can meet them, discuss their work and purchase it directly from the artists.

2012 Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show

The history of the Arabian horse is remarkable. They are one of the oldest breeds of horse and have spread throughout the world used by many different cultures in many different countries. It’s not surprising they are so popular. They have a very distinctive look that captures our wonder and fills us with their beauty.

And from February 16 through the 26th, you can take in not only their beauty, but their amazing competitive abilities. The Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show will showcase the skills of the Arabian Horse show at Westworld of Scottsdale.

The show schedule is packed with varying events for you to choose from and, with tickets starting at $10 for adults and kids 12 and under free, you can attend multiple days with the whole family.

While you are up north at Westworld, swing on over to the Scottsdale Quarter and Kierland Commons for a great night of dining, shopping and entertainment.

See the Grand Canyon from a Helicopter

Seeing the Grand Canyon in person should be on everyone’s bucket list. It’s an amazing sight to behold that is hard to put into words. Seeing the Grand Canyon from the air…well that is truly exceptional. Maverick Helicopters provides helicopter tours is based out of Las Vegas, but they provide aerial tours for travelers to Scottsdale. They can also do custom charter flights to Sedona. If you are coming to town and planning on making a trip up north to the Grand Canyon, you should at least consider Maverick Helicopters.

Hash Knife Pony Express Rides in this Friday

Come on down this Friday, February 10, 2012, to the Hashknife Pony Express Statue, Marshall Way south of Camelback Road, to watch the mail being delivered just like it was in the days of the wild west. This is the oldest officially sanctioned Pony Express in the world. Each rider is sworn in as an honorary mail messenger braving the 2-day ride from Holbrook, Arizona to Scottsdale Arizona to bring 20,000 first class-letters.

The mail will arrive at 12:00 p.m. with a lunch at Upper Deck Sports Grill for the riders scheduled at 12:30 p.m..
