'Nazi Invasion' is coming soon in Blu-ray

Soon there'll finally be a Blu-ray and 3-D version of the hilarious 'Jackboots on Whitehall' (in this new format it has the title 'Nazi Invasion') available! Beside the better Blu-ray quality the three-dimensional version definitely enhances the film fun when watching the animatronic puppet technique. Except more joy in matters of visual effects, the movie itself lives from its hair-raising plot about nazi (mostly campy, gay and toyboy hunting) Germans who try to invade Great Britain as well as from each and every figure appearing: from Chris, 'the hero' who comes from the British countryside, has very big hands and turns out to be England's last hope, through Bobby Fiske, the movie's only American who firmly believes he's fighting the communist threat, to Adolf Hitler, the German nazi leader who loves to spend his time in Marie-Antoinette's dressing room... Enjoy a great action-comedy-puppet-movie about an alternate II WW full of war film stereotypes and spoofing elements such as the parody of 'Team America'. On thing's for sure: You'll burst in tears – of laughter. With the voices of Ewan McGregor, Rosamund Pike, Timothy Spall and Alan Cumming.

What movie are you most looking forward to seeing in 3D this summer? It seems like there are a lot of them coming out this summer (I have a roundup coming at some point!)... I have to say that Captain America has impressed me the most so far. It looks great! Are there any 3D films that you are looking forward to this summer?

I am always looking to show off the technology to my friends and family! As a whole disc, I do love "The Ultimate Wave Tahiti." My husband is a surfer, so we enjoy the movie, but the effects are pretty cool as well... and it's a good buy at only $15!!

Saw 3D: The Final Chapter... just unknowingly watched in 2D

I'm a self-professed horror and gore movie lover. I've seen all of the Saw movies and I liked each one, generally. I finally got the final chapter of Saw from Netflix yesterday, and watched it last night. I didn't realize it was the same movie as the 3D version I'd heard about until I saw the movie title before the main feature began. Of course, this colored my experience since I was now noticing all the things they did to make the 3D "pop," like gore flying at the camera and traps that utilized a lot of perspective or depth, compared to the other movies. However. This was not a bad thing. This is one of the first times that I think, if done well, this movie would have been better and more entertaining in 3D. The question I'm asking myself is this: is that because (A) the movie was clearly filmed to take advantage of 3D or (B) because the Saw franchise is watched for its visual trickery in the first place, and 3D is more glitter on top of that? Has anyone seen the movie, either in 2D or 3D? Is it better in 3D?

While I'm not known to watch a lot of live TV, I'm a big fan of the current generation of gaming, primarily XBOX 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. So far, even after seeing some 3D game demos, I remain somewhat skeptical that I will truly enjoy 3D gaming on a home console or PC. So, are you playing any games in 3D?
It didn't occur to me until I saw a Netflix ad on this site, that I should be able to order a 3D movie from Netflix rather than dishing out the $30 for a movie. However, going to their site, they do list a few 3D movies, but it doesn't look like they are actually available in 3D. Has anyone been successful at actually getting a 3D movie from Netflix? Does anyone know what Netflix's plans are for providing 3D movies?

Crysis 2 multiplayer beta which is currently availible, for a limited time, free on Xbox Live Gold has been released with the 3d option. And my first impressions are WOW, Crytek really outdid themselves. The 3d redering really shows how bad Black Ops 3d version is, with its downgraded 3d graphics, slowed framerate, and no 3d strength adjustment. All of which Crysis has non of these issues that i can see. Also Killzone 3 Beta is being released in 3d and with move support on Feb 2. And by Jimmy Fallon's reaction to the shooter in 3d, I'm going to want it. Take a look...
No Super Bowl in 3D

I have been looking around on the web this morning to see if the Super Bowl would be broadcast in 3D. Everything I read says it will not. Bummer. You would think the networks would get it that people buying 3D TVs might have more money to spend on the things they are advertising. The folks advertising could do some really cool 3D commercials. For those advertisers not interested, other companies could step up and advertise their gadgets and such that us 3D enthusiasts are very likely interested in. They could sell these spots for less, but still increase revenue over not having this second set of commercials. The Nintendo 3DS comes to mind, as well as home theatre, smart phones, iPad’s and similar devices, computers, and a multitude of other things that might run well in 3D. They could raise more than enough money to pay for the added cost of the 3D broadcast, even with a whole separate set of cameras so the 2D folks do not lose anything they would normally see at a Super Bowl. I guess we need to hire a 3D lobbyist for the networks and those that have the big advertising dollars
[Read more]

I watched my first full sporting event in 3D on Monday - the BCS Championship Game - Auburn vs Oregon. Here's some thoughts about my experience: When I first turned on the TV, it was on ESPN, not ESPN 3D, so I heard Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit's introductory comments. When I switched over to ESPN 3D, the first thing that struck me by surprise was that there were different announcers. After a second, I realized that of course there should be different announcers. After all, this IS a different broadcast, even though it is the same game. (What a treat that I didn't once have to hear Brent call Kirk "Herbie" one single time. That was worth it alone :-) But on to more important things.... The sporting event itself was cool to watch. Many of the angles and shots made you feel as if you were in the crowd at the game. They included the shot behind the band which they used several times, the Oregon Duck mascot pointing at the camera, the Oregon cheerleaders on the sidelines, as well as several angles of the game itself. The broadcast was not without problems however.
Just got Despicable Me 3D... ghosting everywhere

I popped in 'Despicable Me 3D' in my PS3 -- I was pretty disappointed. I have other 3D movies and have never seen ghosting like this before ("A Christmas Carol" was gorgeous, btw). I read someone's review on Despicable Me 3D and they stated that video quality was perfect, no ghosting. This surprised me, so I was hoping to find out whether certain 3D Blu-ray discs work better with certain hardware. My setup: Samsung UN55C7000 Playstation 3 Samsung rechargeable glasses Marantz SR5005 Receiver Movies (quality): A Christmas Carol: Very little ghosting Despicable Me: Heavy ghosting Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs: Some ghosting Alice in Wonderland: Some ghosting
[Read more]

Possible issue with adoption...

...may be related to the way 3D is being positioned in the home. Personally I've had a few stellar experiences in the movie theatre with 3D (Christmas Carol, Despicable Me) and to be honest, I didn't initially relate those experiences to what I would get on my personal TV at home but after watching both on my TV at home, I say it's even better. TV manufacturers should stop showing ads of people with glasses on their faces perched on a couch and start developing the link in people's mind to the big screen theatre experience they love and likely have a desire to replicate at home.

List of 3D Games

Would it be possible to get a list of all 3D games built for the PS3 and other platforms where it is in a tabular form? For instance: Game Website Release Date Stereoscopic / True 1080p Side by Side Top-Bottom Checkerboard Other information on the games would also be valuable, I am just getting started, so I am not sure what. Also, my guess is that games made in 2007 are not using the latest 3D TV w/active glasses technology, so that should be identified in the table as well. Thanks ahead of time for anyone who might put this together. I can help, if that would help...
