Our Friday 5 is a few days late. However, we've been too busy basking in the glow of a good week for 3D. Just because we're a little late doesn't mean you should miss out on these five 3D-themed stories. See what the web has been buzzing about... James Bond Speaks. Daniel Craig says (via Contactmusic ) that he's happy that "Cowboys &amp; Aliens" was not in 3D. Wait, wasn't that movie a massive flop? New Blade Runner! Director Ridley Scott will revisit Philip K. D!ck (yes, our system blurs out that name) and one of our favorite sci-fi films, "Blade Runner." According to MarketSaw , the upcoming film will be a 3D follow-up to the 1982 classic. Must-See PlayStation TV. Ubergizmo says that the new PlayStation TV will hit Europe this fall. He's a Talker. Nintendo recently announced a price drop on the 3DS. Now, another 3D-enabled device can be had at a discount: Sony's PlayStation3 . Sony says that they will drop the console's retail price by $50, starting on August 18, 2011. That will make the 160GB version $249, with the 320GB model going for $299. Amazon already has the new prices listed , meaning you can snag those discounts right now. As of March 2011, Sony says they've sold about 50 million PS3 consoles so far. Besides the 3D capabilities, the PS3 can play Blu-ray discs and both 2D and 3D games. There's also another 60,000 games and videos available for download via the PlayStation Network. Sony recently added motion to the gaming experience, with the PlayStation Move motion controller. The price reduction comes on the same day as Sony's official announcement that they will be adding social networking aspects to the upcoming PlayStationVita, which will be released in the U.S. in 2012.<div><a href="http://www.explore3DTV.com/blog/entry/21811/Sony-Cuts-PS3-Price/">[Read more]</div>

One supporter of 3D is the 3D@Home Consortium . The industry trade group recently announced that it is co-locating its 3D User Experience Technical Summit and International 3D Fair at the 4th Annual 3D Entertainment Summit in Hollywood, Calif. on Sept. 22-23 to provide awareness and new education to industry professsionals. "We continue to support the important work that the 3D@Home Consortium is facilitating to shape the future of 3D," says John Golicz, CEO of Unicomm, co-producer of the 3D Entertainment Sumitt. "The synergies between our respective events will help drive 3D to new levels of the marketplace." During the event the trade group says it will examine 3D from the user perspective through workshops that detail signal compression and distribution; specific screen sizes and display technologies, and other items such as the dissection of industry statistics and what areas of the format need further examination. Rick Dean, chairman of the consortium and senior vice president of THX, adds the trade organization's participation in the event just adds to the community sense of the show. At least that's what Nintendo is hoping, so they just announced a third color option for the handheld. Soon you will be able to get your sweaty hands on a Flame Red version of the 3DS. The color option will start selling on September 9, the same day as the new "Star Fox 64" 3D game. "Nintendo 3DS is poised to be on fire for the holidays, with its new suggested retail price, great games and our new Flame Red color," said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. "With major upcoming releases in the Star Fox, Pok&eacute;mon and Mario series, in addition to downloadable offerings from Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Video and Netflix, the system offers new and fun experiences to owners on a daily basis." Options are certainly nice, but if anything is going to get more people to buy a new 3DS, it's savings. After all, who doesn't love being cheap? Nintendo's new $169.99 price for the 3DS pricing will go into effect on August 12, 2011.<div><a href="http://www.explore3DTV.com/blog/entry/21796/Nintendo-to-Start-Selling-Flame-Red-3DS/">[Read more]</div>

The company just announced plans to drop the 3DS price. Starting August 12, the 3DS is going from $249 to $169, which is a nice chunk of change to be saving. "For anyone who was on the fence about buying a Nintendo 3DS, this is a huge motivation to buy now," said Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America . "We are giving shoppers every incentive to pick up a Nintendo 3DS, from an amazing new price to a rapid-fire succession of great games." If you were one of the first 830,000 people to snag the handheld, don't fret. The company wants to give you a little something for the effort. No, you aren't getting a rebate. However, if you've visited the eShop in the past (and if you haven't, please do that before the price cut), Nintendo will reward you with 20 free downloadable games -- games that aren't available yet to the general public. Don't expect to get all 20 at once; it's going to be coming in two waves. Expect 10 NES Virtual Console games to be...<div><a href="http://www.explore3DTV.com/blog/entry/21601/Nintendo-Drops-3DS-Price-Plans-Freebies-for-Existing-Owners/">[Read more]</div>
