I have bought every Iphone that came out since the very first one. My current Iphone broke so I was just going to buy the LG Thrill and exchange it for the iphone5 when it came out. But damn this things shocked the crap out of me. The 3d implemenation is THE BEST i have seen so far, glasses-less ofcourse. The 3d produced very deep depth and popping out of screen effect, but to my suprise it caused very little to no eye strain. The 3d menu interface worked extremely well and brought out a "holy crap" out of all of my friends. 3d games were so so, but 3d movies looked amazing. Built in 3d camara also produced great effects. All these 3d effects are much better than the 3DS with much higher resolution. The best part yet is i got it for $99 from ATT on release day (with extended contract). An absolute steal in my book. I have not been using my 3dtv much latley because there has not been alot of new 3d content, but this just brought back 3D in full force. Only con on this phone in 3d sucks the battery life, so bring...

LG ROLLS OUT OPTIMUS 3D, WORLD'S FIRST TRI-DUAL ARCHITECTURE SMARTPHONE WITH FULL 3D Dual-Core / Dual-Channel / Dual-Memory Device Also Delivers Amazing 3D Experience Seoul, June 17, 2011 – LG Electronics (LG) today officially launched the long-awaited LG Optimus 3D, an innovative new smartphone featuring second generation dual core technology and an advanced "Tri-Dual" architecture. First unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona in February, the LG Optimus 3D offers a full 3D experience - recording, viewing, sharing - in a smartphone form factor. The LG Optimus 3D takes the smartphone experience into new territory with its Tri-Dual configuration – dual-core, dual-channel and dual-memory – which allows for improved performance when multi-tasking, enjoying a movie or playing graphics-intensive games. This LG smartphone is also a major step forward in the utilization of full 3D functionality in everyday life – users can record and immediately view content in 3D without the need for special glasses. "Tri-Dual architecture opens up a whole new world in smartphone performance," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company.
Is 3D TV here to stay? What's the future of 3D TV?

I thought I would start a discussion to get people's opinions on the future of 3D television. I've spoken to many people who think that 3D is a 'fad' and won't stick (of course none of them actually OWN a 3D TV). Others have mixed experiences with 3D while others can't get enough of it. I personally love the 3D experience, but also am skeptical whether or not main stream consumers will overcome the 3D glasses issue - and the only way that this technology will gain public acceptance is if and when the glasses are not required. I don't see glasses as an issue in the movie theater, but for home viewing it's more, let's just say, inconvenient . What are your thoughts?

Best 3D Camera?

I just ordered my 3D TV and went ahead and ordered a camera so I could create my own 3D content for personal use, as well as the possibility of sharing it on the new 3D YouTube site. I got the "Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D W3 Digital Camera with 3.5-Inch LCD" via Amazon for $398 and a 32 GB Class 10 SDHC memory card for $51. This seemed to be the most economical way to get 720P 3D video, as well as 10M Pixel 3D still shots, with some other cool 2D stuff you can do with two cameras in one unit shooting pictures at the same time. Has anyone purchased this camera? What other options exist that may be as good or better? I would enjoy hearing about your experience with this camera (FinePix Real 3D W3). To administrators: I suggest changing "3D Entertainment" category to "3D Content" and adding sub-items for "Camera," "YouTube 3D" and anything else you can think of.

Of all the 3D Movies I would want to see, Lord of the Rings 3D tops my list. Of course, it would have to include the extended footage to really make it worthwhile as the regular Blu-ray DVD was only the regular movie. I did some investigating to see if anything was in the works, and while Peter Jackson did not rule it out in an April 2010 interview with the Wall Street Journal , he did make it sound that it would be a LONG time before Lord of the Rings 3D saw the light of day: "If we were going to convert LOTR, I’d want to do it properly, which would be a very long, time-consuming, and expensive process." Keep your fingers crossed that technology improves to make this a worthwhile effort. In the meantime, you're just going to have to be content with this Lord of the Rings 3D screen saver .

I was reading here ">http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3i677c428c4dc16c2c7... That: Sources indicate that George Lucas is set to re-release the entire "Star Wars" franchise in new 3D conversions beginning in 2012. Though the 3D versions have been rumored for some time, Lucas was purportedly waiting until there were enough 3D screens available to make the release a sizable enough event. Fox, which released all six of the original "Star Wars" films, would also release the 3D versions... They say that Each conversion takes at least a year to complete, with Lucas personally overseeing the process to make sure each one is as perfected as possible. Lucas has said that the "Avatar" experience convinced him that "Star Wars" was ready for the state-of-the-art 3D treatment. This could be interesting but how do they do a conversion from an old 2D movie to a 3D movie and is it good enough to bother with?

I dunno... http://www.explore3dtv.com/blog/entry/14202/Aiptek-Makes-3D-Cameras-Cheap/ I tend to think the camera will just add more than a few pounds in 3D. I'm not sure I want to see my bald dome captured in glorious stereoscopic accuracy; I prefer to live in photos as a 2D figure, myself. I can honestly say that I have absolutely no interest in ever getting a 3D camera for the home. I love photos just the way they are. However, there is something to be said for viewing photographs of world locations, in 3D photos, that you may otherwise never get to see. I can see the benefit there... I'm just not convinced I'd buy one to take pictures of my family, pets, etc. What say you?

James Cameron has done a lot lately to promote 3DTV, saying that it is the definitive future, I'm assuming he means for both film and television. http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE64C1CE20100513 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1257147/3D-TV-Avatar-director-James-Cameron-hails-future.html Other pundits and experts, however, such as Roger Ebert, are pretty skeptical that 3D films and television really have a place or will take over entirely. http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20091211/REVIEWS/912119998/1023 So, which side are you on? Personally, I'm somewhere in the middle. I think that some content can definitely be enhanced and entertaining in 3D, while others will ultimately be degraded by it. I would hate if *all* TV and film became 3D - but will embrace it if it is appropriate and experience-enhancing for the content items it's focused on.

So DXG's coming out with a pocket camera that records in 3D. Pretty slick, but apparently you can only view the 3D footage on the camcorder's included 7" parallax screen. No way to view it on a 3DTV. http://dvice.com/archives/2010/01/dxg-readies-fir.php My prediction.... Fail.

3D mobile displays coming from Sharp - sans glasses

Not sure I was waiting for 3D in a mobile device but saw this article today that says Sharp is building it so I/they will come. It certainly makes more sense to me to have a 3D screen on a portable gaming device vs. a mobile phone but that distinction seems to be blurring every day. I can see sporting 3D glasses while in a dedicated game-play session and I do appreciate Sharp trying to go the no-glasses route for other types of mobile devices. I tell you what does make sense to me: embedding 3D display technology into those video goggles like Vuzix . If you've already committed to wearing the "eyewear", why not also provide a 3D option?

Just heard At The Movies is going off the air

Caught a headline this morning that reports Siskel and Ebert's long-running show will end later this summer. I remember they would cover 3D movies going way back. Would be fun to find some of their old stuff and rewatch, see how far 3D has come. They were a hoot (does anyone still say that?)

Read here that Walmart just announced that it should have 3D TVs in its stores by year end. Now if that isn't mainstream enough for you, nothing is.
