Of our world for the next couple weeks is much less peaceful than this image!

I truly hate to do this. However, I just don't see anyway around it. Walter, my husband, sees his DR. and will get set for surgery first thing this upcoming week. We are putting up 300 feet of fence to accommodate our new puppy. He arrives here tomorrow and is only 7 weeks old.

There are also a few other things going on that are making it virtually impossible for me to keep up right now. Walter is after me about not getting enough rest by trying to do everything here at home and keep up here on the blog.

I simply am not able to keep up with everything. I am officially on break starting now. I am so so grateful to all of my wonderful friends and I miss you all so very much. But, Walter's surgery involves two hernias which are in pretty bad shape and he really needs me to his wife right now and help him! Oh, did I mention we are also having our house painted? Well, we are! I am overwhelmed with real life activity and truly need to take care of my home and family right now!

I'll see everyone as much as possible and as soon as possible!

These beautiful hand painted life size horse sculptures can be found all over Durant.

We had a busy day. After leaving downtown we drove out to Choctaw Plaza to make some purchases and I couldn't resist getting a picture of their huge big screen marquee. After all, they were advertising a Valentine Day special.

Ha! We won't be attending because we don't gamble. Look just to your right and you will see their flower mound which was beautiful!

And of course we stopped along the way to get some photos of birds.

Awww....Monday With Cowboy

Good morning everyone this is Cowboy our new German Shepherd puppy. He's the first animal we have actually purchased in years and years. Most of our animals are always rescue dogs and cats. But, we needed a good watch dog to help us scare away bobcats, and, other scary things in the night too. As you can see he is sable and black. We did not get the little black one. Cowboy, named purely accidentally, by daddy, chose us and we couldn't resist him.

He got named Cowboy by daddy when I asked Walter, otherwise, known as daddy, to pick him up so I could take some pictures. Without any thought at all Walter said..."Come on Cowboy let's get some pictures." Then, I was calling him Cowboy, as I was snapping away. He responded beautifully every single time to that name. So Cowboy it is!

Cowboy is an AKC registered German Shepherd. However, he is not a kennel bred dog. His mother only breeds every other year. The puppies have a huge yard. They also have access to come and go in and out of the house. Some of his other family members are trained as service dogs. Isn't he handsome?

Music Monday - Love Songs For Valentine Week

This week it's all about love songs.

Walter and I chose this song as our newest song on our 30th anniversary!

Abracadabra was the very first song Walter dedicated to me. I love it and I hope you enjoy it too!

I love Leonard Cohen and this song so reminds me of Walter and his love for me. He is definitely my man and I am definitely spoiled rotten by him!

This song by Alabama, is pretty much the way Walter and I are together in real life. We are each other's best friends. We prefer doing things alone together. We could easily spend every single day just with each other and be very happy!

Islands In The Stream was a huge hit when we first met and fell in love. It was being played on Pop stations and C&W. We spent a lot of hours smooching...umm...I mean slow dancing to this song.

We've been married 30 years, and together thirty one years, and we are still 'Islands In The Stream' with no one in between! We are so blessed in love!

We are leaving very soon to go see our new puppy. I will be away all afternoon. We need help naming him. He's a pure breed solid black German Shepherd. Please help us name him! Walter likes Dylan and I don't!~Happy Music Monday everyone!~

Feline Friday - My Bobcat Adventure

Please Note:No large zoom lens was used while taking these photos. I had my standard 18 to 35 MM lens on. We were literally face to face! I was approximately 2 to 3 feet away at the most! A few times I got so close and my camera failed to fire!

They are very good at hiding. I could only find him and get a shot when he moved.

I apologize for the quality of the images but this big guy was crouched underneath a huge bush protecting his kill. It was around 9 am in the morning, and the sunlight was just starting to peek around the corner of our house which faces east. This guy was pretty good size. I would estimate his weight to be around 25 to 30 lbs.

In the second photo if you look very closely he is walking toward me. It is very hard to see but he was easily 24 inches from shoulder to ground. They are very beautiful and exciting to see. To get a photo like this is extremely exhilarating. The adrenaline rush is incredible. Normally these cats are very illusive and it's rare you will see one.

However, in the last few years, the bobcats around here have become very comfortable with people. They no longer fear us. They were protected by law until last year. Now they are over populated, hungry, and becoming more and more aggressive.

With increased population, the drought, lack of food sources, and, exposure to everyday human sounds, as we live in a lake resort area, the newer generations coming along have little to no fear of humans. Some times they will run but many times they firmly stand their ground. It's a good rule of thumb to always keep a shotgun handy, especially, during the late evening, and early morning hours!

~Mine stays loaded and I always have extra shells!~

Walter got home yesterday afternoon and his company is in the process of locating a DR. for him to see about his surgery. It will be nice to have him home for such a long period of time. Please keep him in your prayers. He has two hernias and both are in dire need of attention!

Forty plus years ago at 7:47 a.m. in the morning I was blessed to give birth to a beautiful, intelligent, vivacious and gracious baby girl, my first daughter, Dr. Pamela Wright. Please know sweetheart how very much you are loved by daddy and me. There are not adequate words to describe how joyous it is to be blessed to be your parents. Daddy and I, are humbled, and, so very grateful to have you in our lives.

You have exceeded any possible dream parents could ever imagine for their child. We love you with all of our hearts! Our wish for you today is that all of your dreams come true! 1. Chinese New Year will be celebrated on February 10th, and 2013 is the year of the snake. When did you last see a snake? Are you okay around snakes or do they give you the shivers?

The last time I saw a snake was last summer. My cat was kind enough to bring two garden snakes up near the house. Cats are natural predators and enemies of snakes. We live in the country. We have woods behind us and on one side of us. We also have a pond. And, there is another pond on the property adjacent to us. Occasionally we do see snakes. I have seen two water moccasins in the thirteen years we have lived here. However, since our cats began living outdoors I have only seen the two garden snakes mentioned above and one snake in the water last year.

No! Snakes are not okay with me! I have a terrible phobia of snakes! It's the one thing about living here that bothers me. Rattle snakes, Copperheads and Moccasins are native to this area. I never work a flower bed, dig in any dirt, or, turn over any rocks before checking first with a long stick.

2. The color red in Chinese culture usually means good luck. Do you believe in luck?

No I don't believe in luck. Rather, I believe in destiny. We are all born with God's plan for our lives already in place.

3. sledding-ice skating-building a snowman...if given a choice, which activity would you choose? Which of the three have you done most recently?

It would have to be building a snowman. I grew up in the south, and only saw a few inches of snow my entire life, before moving to Maine in my mid thirties. I did try to ice skate once and that was hilarious. I couldn't even stand up if I let go of the rail. I was a good roller skater though! Most recently, would be a long time ago, as I only visit Maine in the summer now. But, when last there, during winter, I did join in the fun with the grand kids building a snowman.

4. Ralph Waldo Emerson is credited as saying, "The years teach much which the days never knew." Where have you seen this quote played out in your own life?

In every single aspect of my life. How can it not? I think this is true for everyone. However, it is not until we are older, and have gained some wisdom with our years we realize this fact, and can understand what Emerson is referring to.

5. When was the last time you ate a cupcake?

Oh gosh I can't remember the exact time. I might have eaten a cupcake at a church function. I am not a cupcake fan.

6. What's something you can't say no to?

Someone in need.

7. Are you a doodler?

No I am not a doodler.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Today all my thoughts are focused on my daughter's birthday on Thursday. I keep thinking about the first time I saw her and held her. I remember being in the hospital forty plus years ago and the miserable quack of a DR. I had. I was very young and he was very rude and mean to me. I was already scared to death. I was very very young and no one prepared me for anything. But, everything was perfect as soon as I saw her. She was definitely a keeper and still is!

Her birthdays always remind me of Turner's Syndrome though too. She has Turner's Syndrome and deals with many very serious related health issues. It is very rare. Only one in five thousand fetuses ever make it to term. Only sixty thousand women are alive in America with this genetic disorder. My greatest prayer and wish for today, and everyday, is that people will visit The Turner Society page and make a donation for research.

A Giant Red Lobster And More

This is Pier 99, a waterfront cafe, located in Corpus Christi, Texas.

These photos, and the ones below were all taken by me, six years ago, while on vacation visiting my daughter, and her husband in Corpus. They took me for a day at the beach. I had forgotten all about these photos. I found them recently tucked away in a folder on my laptop. These were all taken when all I had was my Kodak Instamatic. I was surprised to find that I spent almost the entire day focusing on birds. I guess I have been bird hunting much longer than I thought.

This little guy, or, I should say big guy, spent a great deal of the afternoon on the pier with people fishing. It got to be comical after a while. I think he wanted their fish!

After a couple of hours with no one paying any attention to him he flew away.

Awwww....Monday - Farewell

Mr. Goose

Mr. goose is no longer with us. His number came up Saturday morning. He was attacked by a bobcat. I was not feeling super well. I think I am trying to come down with a bug. So, I slept late, and the cat got poor Mr. Goose. It is a sad Awwwww....today. But, he was getting old and mean. He squawked non-stop. I knew eventually he would draw unwanted attention and he did.

I'm grateful Mollipop and me are okay. Every single time I would let her outside Friday night she ran to the back and barked her head off. I would have to go back there and literally pick her up to bring her in the house. She did exactly the same thing Saturday morning. However, this time as I approached, I heard this low guttural growling, and then I saw him. Naturally, I grabbed Molli, and ran as fast as possible, into the house to grab my camera. Well, I had to try to get a photo before he jumped the low place in the fence, and attacked me. He definitely was not going anywhere because Mr. Goose was right there, and the cat was protecting his kill.

Bobcats have become a very big problem in our area. I would estimate this cat weighed somewhere between twenty five and thirty pounds. The combination of their size, and lack of fear of humans, has become a serious problem. We all have concerns, in this area, for small children, ourselves, our pets, and, our fowl. I won't go deeper into the details. But, no one needs to worry about that cat any longer.

I will post the two photos at the end of the week for my Feline Friday contribution. Hey it's not everyday a city girl gets photos of a bobcat in it's natural habitat. The adrenaline rush during the entire episode was incredible. Oh my, just think, that cat had been back there the night before. A big, hungry, and, agitated cat. I am so grateful he didn't attack Molli or me. That's why we all own shotguns or rifles. I was nuts for being out there the night before without my gun. I know better! I always take my shotgun out with me. I won't forget to take it ever again!!

It's certainly no secret to my regular readers that I have been a slacker the last few days. I won't deny that. I have been. However, just as the vapor dissipates as it rises, so does one's energy, if we don't take the time occasionally to get ourselves replenished.

I promised myself and my family when I started blogging again ,I would not stress out over it, and wear myself out, sitting in front of the computer, hour after hour, day after day, and, I am not going to. I have been hitting it pretty hard lately keeping up with a multitude of memes, which by the way, in most cases, require me to furnish photos. Which, in turn, requires me to have time to take photos as I am listed as a photo-blog.

I am giving myself this weekend off. For sure, I will be away again tomorrow, Saturday. I may or may not be back on Sunday. Our weather is absolutely marvelous. Our forecast is for temperatures around 65 degrees and clear skies. With that weather report it's awfully hard not to want to be outside after the cold weather we have had over the last few weeks.

Before I close I would like to note that yesterday was my wonderful husband's birthday. He was thirty nine almost for the third time in a row. He will be home any time now to start his vacation. And, hopefully have surgery done on two hernias, which are in dire need of attention. I am so glad he is finally going to be able to have this done. Plus it will be super to have him home. Please pray we can get this all scheduled!

Last but not least, is the announcement of January's top talker. It was close this month. But, once again, my dear and lovely friend Sandee, from Comedy Plus won out by only three comments. Shelly, form La Tejana, a wonderful, and very dear new friend ran a very close second. I am so very grateful, and thankful to each and every single person, that took even one minute out of their life to stop by my blog, look around, and leave me a comment.

It always amazes me and truly makes my day!

I certainly went Awwwww.....when I got home, and reviewed my shots for this day. I have not tampered with this photo other than to sharpen a little bit. This was taken last Thursday around 7:30 am right as the sun peaked over the hill across the lake. Since last Thursday we have had fog and mist. I am praying for sunshine this week. I am craving to get out with my camera and my big glass of ice caramel coffee.

I love the romantic feel of a foggy morning. There is a mystery within that leads one to imagine all sorts of things. Oh, how I wish we clung more to romance in our modern times.

I am featuring 'Dance Me to the End of Love' by Leonard Cohen this week.

Cohen is a Canadian born, highly celebrated poet, and musician. He has a wonderful raspy bass voice that is well suited for blues and jazz. In the 1980s, Cohen was in a relationship with the French photographer Dominique Issermann. They collaborated together in the production of this song and one other while together..

This video has a multitude of wonderful dance clips from old movies. It is astonishing how very well this video is edited. The dancers are never out of step to the beat of the music.

I love old movies. I love romance. I love dancing and I love this song!

I was stuck indoors the last part of this week due to bad weather. For wood, I remembered this antique jewelry box that belonged to my mother. It is cedar and she did the decoupage herself. I love this little box and hadn't took a good look at it in a long time. It's beautiful to me in so many ways. I found so many forgotten little treasures when I looked inside as shown below.

I will use my mother's old pin cushion for fuzzy number one.

Fuzzy number two: A knitted shawl

The necklace shown in this photo is called a 'Tree Of Life' necklace. I purchased it at the Choctaw gift shop. The design inside of the heart, which represents love, is that of a tree with branches. You and your ancestors are the roots and the branches represent the generations to follow. It is all hand crafted and the stones are peridot. It's one of my favorite pieces of jewelry.
