The film features Dr Kamal Haasan in the lead role along with a superstar line up – Andrea Jeremiah, Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar, Jaideep Ahlawat, Samrat Chakrabarti, Zarina Wahab and a special appearance by Oscar nominee, Shekhar Kapur . Musical trios Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have composed the film’s musical score and noted lyricist Javed Akhtar has penned the lyrics for the film. The multi – talented Super Star Dr Kamal Haasan will address the media along with the cast of the film.

The 13th edition of the IIFAs – the Videocon IIFA Weekend 2012 has been designed keeping in mind the South Indian diaspora in Singapore. The three spectacular days of high–octane entertainment will witness South Indian film celebrities like music prodigy A.R. Rahman, renowned actress Radikaa SharathKumar, Shreya Saran, Telugu film producer K S Rama Rao, Suresh Babu, Allu Arvind and many more as they partake in the IIFA festivities and celebrate the talents of Indian Cinema for the year 2011. Interestingly, for the first time ever the performances at the IIFA Weekend & Awards, South Super Star –Choreographer – Director, Prabhudeva, would choreograph IIFA Rocks & Awards. He is choreographing an Awards Ceremony for the first time his illustrious career.

The third edition of India’s biggest film festival that focusses on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender themes, will be held at two venues from May 23-27, 2012, at Cinemax Versova in Andheri West and Alliance Francaise at New Marine Lines.

The gala star-studded red carpet opening saw people from the film, theatre and modelling world, including actors Suchitra Pillai, Liliput, Dolly Thakore, Mahabanoo Mody-Kotwal, Mona Ambegoankar, Parvin Dabas, filmmaker Anant Mahadevan, Parvati Balgopalan and television actor Russshad Rana.

The opening ceremony was swept in some Maharashtrian tadka with a scintillating Lavni performance by the troupe Dancing Queens – a group that raises funds through dance for HIV positive and destitute transgennders. The event also saw performance by city-based band Fungus. There was also a surprise in store as South Asia’s largest flash mob, which had performed at Marine Drive earlier this year turned up even as a video of their last appearance was being played on the screen.

Girinand scored the music for the theme song and the lyrics are written by Niranjan Bharathi. Mrs Raihanah, sister of Oscar winner AR Rahman, sang the theme song along with other vocalists such as Srinivas, Priya Hemesh, VV Prasanna, MLR Karthikeyan, Saindhavi, Nikhil Mathews, Suchith, Vandana, Sakthi and Malavika Manoj who were all present.

The film festival India’s only mainstream LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) film festival, will be held at two venues – Cinemax Versova, Andheri West and Alliance Francaise, Marine Lines in Mumbai – between May 23 to May 27, 2012, and will feature 120 films from 30 countries.

The KASHISH 2012 jury will comprise actor-filmmakers Renuka Shahane and Parvin Dabas, theatre actor/producer Mahabanoo Mody-Kotwal, theatre and television actor Mona Ambegaonkar and author and film critic Mayank Shekhar.

“KASHISH 2012’s theme is ‘FOR EVERYONE’ and the festival will make a special effort to program films and have panel discussions that not only deal with gay, lesbian, transgender themes, but also those that relate to families and friends of LGBT people,’’ said co festival director Pallav Patankar. The festival is open for everyone and it is a FREE event. It is the only queer film festival to receive clearance from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The festival is organized by Solaris Pictures and Bombay Dost in association with The Humsafar Trust.
