I played limit for the first time in a while and it was not pretty for the first bit. I was down about 12 BB within a half an hour after having a lot of things miss or get drawn out on. However, the rest of the session went quite well.

Here's the basic stats from PT:

3.98 Hours Played at 14.76 BB/hour and 28.97 BB/100

I'm taking a break now but I'll go through the HH and find some big hands.

As for SnG, I played 5 $2 normal SnGs and won one, placed second in one, and third in two more. The plays a little stronger on the slower tourneys but it's better for me as it doesn't turn into a pushfest by a half hour in.

The rolls now stand at:

Limit BR: $29.79 (up 58.8 BB)
SnG BR: $29.45 (up a little less than 5 buy-ins)

Total: $59.24

My next limit session I'll hopefully hit my first milestone of 50% of the way to .10/.20.

Day 5: Ugh

Limit BR: $23.91 (same)
SnG BR: $19.10 (Down 4 buy ins at $2)

Enough said.

Day 4: A short one

On some advice from ITH about trying to get a better rake structure I played some $2 + $0.25 SnG's tonight on FTP.

The first was a normal format, after handing out this bad beat. I took the tournament down for $9. On the second I played a turbo and went out third when I had my AA cracked by T9o.

I think I may stay at this level, but as always I'm looking for advice. I'm not going to hit the cash games until my day off Wed.

The roll stats:

Limit BR: $23.91 (same)
SnG BR: $28.10 (up 6.48 buy-ins at $1 and up 3.6 buy-ins at $2)

Total: $52.01

Day 3: Nothing to see here or maybe there is...

Yeah well, not a great night early. I played three $1 + $0.25 SnGs without much success. Out in 6th in one, and then out in 7th in the second.

Here's a hand that kind of summed up my night to that point:

Full Tilt Poker
No Limit Holdem Tournament
Blinds: t20/t40
8 players
Converter

Pre-flop: (8 players) ey215 is Button with :6c :6s
UTG calls t40 (pot was t60), 3 folds, CO calls t40 (pot was t100), ey215 calls t40 (pot was t140), SB calls t20 (pot was t180), BB raises to t160, UTG calls t120 (pot was t280), CO calls t120 (pot was t400), ey215 calls t120 (pot was t520), SB calls t120 (pot was t640).

Flop: :9c :td :6d (t800, 5 players)
SB checks, BB bets t800, UTG folds, CO raises all-in t1280, ey215 raises all-in t1290, SB folds, BB calls all-in t480.
Uncalled bets: t10 returned to ey215.

Turn: :jh (t4640, 0 player + 3 all-in - Main pot: t4640)

River: :jc (t4640, 0 player + 3 all-in - Main pot: t4640)

Results:
Final pot: t4640
CO showed Th Js
ey215 showed 6c 6s
BB showed Qh Qs

Ah, but blessed third SnG. It started fairly well and this is the hand that put us heads up. The beauty of this one is more than once I had folded after raising from the button when three handed. Probably a little weak on my part, but I thought it might come in handy and it sure did.

Full Tilt Poker
No Limit Holdem Tournament
Blinds: t120/t240
3 players

Pre-flop: (3 players) ey215 is Button with kh kd
ey215 raises to t840, SB calls t720 (pot was t1200), BB raises all-in t3240, ey215 calls t2400 (pot was t4920), SB folds.

Flop: 7d 2s 8c (t7320, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: t7320)

Turn: 3c (t7320, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: t7320)

River: 4h (t7320, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: t7320)

Results:
Final pot: t7320
BB showed 6c Ac
ey215 showed Kh Kd

The heads-up went longer than it should have, but I took it down. Therefore my rolls now stand at:

Limit BR: $23.91 (same)
SnG BR: $20.00 (up 1.7 buy-ins)
I feel pretty good about the first two losses even, I made the right decisions when I got my money in, it just didn't work out for me.

Day 2: No poker but some yummies...

So, no poker today. It's my dad's birthday and we went out to dinner after work at a family Italian place. Fettuccine Alfredo was o.k. Family fun was great. Not a bad bottle of wine.

However, the highlight of my day was sitting on the steps when I got home. A sampler that I won on Cigar Bid.

After putting them in my Lock&Stockador is damn full. I'm going to have to buy a cooler in the very near future to make a coolerdor. That or actually start smoking some of this collection. I think I'll have a cigar on the way to work in the morning.

Day 1: The Journey Begins

Not a bad start to the quest.

Limit BR: 23.91 (up 7BB)

SnG BR: 18.70(up 5 buy-ins)

I played very briefly on a limit table at Poker Stars. 22 hans in fact. :)

VP$IP: 13.64
PFR: 0.00%
Agression Factor: 0.50

I actually only won one hand, but it was a big one.

It occurs to me that I didn't lay any ground rules that I'll be following. So here they are, in no particular order:

I will be following a standard bankroll strategy. 300 BB of the next level to move up in limit and 30 buy-ins in SnG play. However starting out I'll tolerate a little more risk. I'm starting at .05/.10 limit and $1 SnG

I'm not going to play multiple tables at this time. I feel like, for the moment I need to focus on getting my game back in shape. Later on I'll modify this rule.

I will not be playing any MTT except for maybe a few free rolls until I build up a 100 buy-in bankroll off of one of my other bankrolls. Any bonus money will be going into this fund.

I'll try and post my overall stats after each session here.

Also, I started a new PT database, as really data from eleven months ago doesn't really help me.

A quest renewed

After almost a year off from playing poker regularly I've decided to take my remaining bankroll and see what I can do with it.
