At this time we all probably know that Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii by now, but birthers still insist that he was born elsewhere like Kenya or Indonesia or was it Malaysia?

Regardless of what the birthers claim, Barack Obama was born on August 4, 1961, at Kapi’olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital (now called Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women and Children) in Honolulu, Hawaii. (born August 4, 1961) is the 44th and current President of the United States, having taken office in 2009. He is the first African American to hold the office. She is the daughter of seamstress/housewife Ruth (née Schindel) and house painter Fred Midler, who worked at a Navy base in Hawaii. Her parents were from Paterson, New Jersey and moved to Honolulu before Midler was born. She was named after the actress Bette Davis, though Davis pronounced her first name in two syllables, and Midler uses one. She was raised in Aiea and attended Radford High School in Honolulu.

She has starred in live-action films such as Ruthless People, Beaches and Hocus Pocus, as well as featuring in animated films such as Oliver & Company and Fantasia 2000. During her more than forty-year career, Midler has been nominated for two Academy Awards; and won four Grammy Awards, four Golden Globes, three Emmy Awards, and a special Tony Award. Tia Carrere is an American actress, model, and singer, perhaps most widely known for her role as Cassandra Wong in the feature films Wayne’s World and Wayne’s World 2 and as Sydney Fox in the TV series Relic Hunter.

Carrere attended Sacred Hearts Academy, an all girls school. Carrere longed to be a singer as a child. Although she was eliminated during the first round of her 1985 Star Search appearance at the age of 17, she was spotted by a local producer while shopping at a Waikiki grocery store and was cast in the movie Aloha Summer, which he produced and had a cameo in. Donald Lee Stroud was born Honolulu, Hawaii (1 September 1943) is an American actor and surfer who appeared in many films in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, and has starred in over 100 movies and 175 television shows to date. Stroud was surfing at Waikiki when he was discovered by actor Troy Donahue who was filming ABC’s Hawaiian Eye and needed a stunt double for his surfing scenes.

Stroud co-starred with Clint Eastwood in two films, Coogan’s Bluff in 1968 and Joe Kidd in 1972. He also appeared in several episodes of CBS’s Hawaii Five-O and in the Barry Sullivan NBC western series The Road West. Stroud co-starred in Roger Corman’s 1970 Von Richthofen and Brown. Agnes Lum was the inspiration for the name of this character as she was extremely popular and well-known at the time the manga was first released (1977). In order to avoid confusion with Agnes Chan, another popular idol at the time, “Lum-chan” was used, though many fans called both simply “Agnes”. In 1999, he won Hawaii’s Model of the Year and hosted the Miss Teen Hawaii contest. After Stargate Atlantis season 4 shooting was over, Jason Momoa had his dreadlocks cut off. Hoku Christian Ho was born in the island of O?ahu (born June 10, 1981), known simply as Hoku, to Patti Swallie and Don Ho. She is the seventh of Ho’s 10 children; his union with Swallie, who used to sing in his show, produced another daughter, Kaimana Grace.

Hoku’s name means “star” in Hawaiian. She is of European, Polynesian and Asian American ancestry: Chinese, Hawaiian, Portuguese, Dutch and German descent on her father’s side and Hawaiian and Caucasian descent on her mother’s side. Hoku is an American musician, singer-songwriter, and actress.  Her most popular singles are “Another Dumb Blonde,” “How Do I Feel,” and “Perfect Day.”

WAIKIKI SPAM JAM® Festival 2011

Each place in the world seems to have its signature food festival. You may have heard about tomatoes, ribs, onions or pumpkins, but you have never seen anything like this, a SPAM® festival!

It’s the annual WAIKIKI SPAM JAM® Festival, the cultural tradition in Hawaii. The WAIKIKI SPAM JAM®Festival, which starts at 4:00 p.m. and ends at 10:00 p.m, and is quickly becoming one of the most popular festivals in Hawaii because of its great food and entertainment in a family-friendly atmosphere. Local residents and visitors alike have made this an annual tradition. Last year, an estimated 20,000 people attended the event.

Kalakaua Avenue is closed to car traffic for the event, and two entertainment stages are set up on the street. Between the stages, several of Honolulu’s finest restaurants will be serving up Spam®Products in many different ways, so you can experience the enormous variety of its applications. Two merchandise tents will be selling Spam™-themed items including t-shirts, shorts, sport balls, and slippers. A variety of Hawaiian craft booths will also be set up on the street. Since the WAIKIKI SPAM JAM®Festival attracts many families, there is also a popular family tent with a variety of games and prizes.

There are no admission charges for enjoying the entertainment.

Join Life Foundation and thousands of walkers on Sunday, April 17, 2011 for the 20th annual Honolulu AIDS Walk!

Registration: 8am, Walk starts: 9am. The Honolulu AIDS Walk Walk is an easy 5K walk around Kapiolani Park to help support free services for people living with HIV/AIDS in Hawaii, HIV testing, and education for the community.

Don Ho

Don Ho, born Donald Tai Loy Ho , (August 13, 1930 – April 14, 2007) was a Hawaiian and traditional pop musician, singer and entertainer.

Ho, of Chinese, Hawaiian, Portuguese, Dutch, and German descent, was born in the small Honolulu neighborhood of Kaka?ako, but he grew up in K?ne?ohe on the windward side of the island of O?ahu. He was a graduate of the Kamehameha Schools in 1949 and he attended Springfield College in 1950, but returned home to earn a bachelor’s degree in sociology at University of Hawai’i in 1953. In 1954 Ho entered the United States Air Force and spent time flying fighter jets in both Texas and Hawaii. He said that when he was stationed at Keesler AFB, he went to the local town of Concord, CA and bought an electronic keyboard from a music store, and recalls, “That’s when it all started.”

Guest appearances on television shows such as I Dream of Jeannie, The Brady Bunch, Sanford and Son, Batman, Charlie’s Angels, and Fantasy Island soon followed. Although his album sales peaked in the late 1960s, he was able to land a television series on ABC from October 1976 to March 1977 with the Don Ho Show variety program which aired on weekday mornings

Elliman’s singing career began in 1969 in London where she performed as a vocalist at various bars and clubs. About Scott Caan

Caan was born in Los Angeles, California, the son of actor James Caan and Sheila Ryan, an actress and former model.  His paternal grandparents were Jewish immigrants from Germany. His parents divorced a year after his birth; he has four half-siblings from his father’s other marriages.

Caan was a roadie for the rap groups Cypress Hill and House of Pain, and was a member of the hip-hop group The Whooliganz (with producer and fellow emcee, The Alchemist), before enrolling at the Playhouse West acting school in Los Angeles.

Caan is probably best known for his role as Turk Malloy in the three “Ocean’s Eleven” heist movies from Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco ruled Tuesday that four students challenging the admission policy of Kamehameha Schools cannot sue the school anonymously.

The lawsuit says the students were illegally denied admission to the schools because they do not have Hawaiian ancestry. Kamehameha Schools argues that its admissions preference for children of Native Hawaiian ancestry is legal because the schools are a private institution and the policy is intended to address the social and economic disadvantages of the Native Hawaiian people since the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom.
