For example, I was keen on a particular model of a camera from one of the top brands in the business, and a review on Amazon and a concurring one on a personal blog described the catch with the deal that looked too good to be true. I just moved on in the catalog. I have a bunch of experiences where the advertising was less than attractive, but genuine praise from real customers had me change my mind.
What does this mean from a marketeers point of view? Reviews on any platform (public websites, personal blogs, communities/forums) are no longer something that they can ignore.
