Exciting news from FCA Girls Teams Director Katie Hultin: "On May 22nd, FC Alliance teams will have a chance to watch the semi-pro team ECFC train at Pop Keeney. ECFC is a new team that is in the Women’s Premier Soccer League. The WPSL is the biggest and strongest women’s league in the country (70+ teams). The ECFC team consists of many players from UW and other local schools, along with several international players. Now you may wonder, what league are the Women’s Sounders in then? Great question: they are in the other women’s league, the W-League, which is very strong, it is just a little smaller due to the costs to run a team."

Sounders Stars LIGHT UP FC Alliance Club Night

GOLAZO – the Spanish word for not just any soccer goal; but a soccer goal performed with such artistry that it’s a BEAUTIFUL GOAL – was the theme at FC Alliance Club Night, Monday, April 9^th.

Bothell High School gymnasium was ROCKING WITH ENTHUSIASM, as President Tom Campbell, Director of Coaching Dave Schumacheror, Boys Teams Coaching Director Hugo Alcaraz, and Girls Teams Coaching Director Katie Hultin, shared an inspiring series of movies, awards, and speakers, all of whom showed BY EXAMPLE, how goal-setting and hard work rewards players who are ALL IN to achieve their personal GOLAZOS.

An amazing short movie featuring Coach Santa Maria Rivera shared Santa’s triumph over severe childhood obstacles to achieve his GOAL : being a professional soccer player on the Sounders and a youth soccer coach at FCA who shows players how to achieve their goals. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when President Tom Campbell and Golazo hydration drink President Richard Tait announced a new soccer field would be named in Coach Santa’s mother’s honor: Isabelle Rivera Fields.

Two young FCA players were singled out for their inspiring work on the soccer fields during the 2011-2013 season.

But when Sounders FC players Ozzie Alonso and David Estrada showed up, the crowd went wild. David had visited with the FCA players last year, when he was working hard – training to be THE MOST FIT PLAYER on the pitch - to earn his starting slot on the Sounders team this season, where he is now their leading scorer this season with an astounding 5 goals. David attributed his personal success – and the team’s continued success – to the man who is widely considered to be the best mid-fielder in the MLS, Ozzie Alonso. The players delighted FCA players by answering questions and signing autographs.

Every player left with a bright blue FCA carabiner and Goal Journal card, where they will record their three top goals for next season, and clip to their soccer backpacks to be their constant reminder. In addition, Golazo hydration drink announced an AMAZING $250 AWARD to the boy and girl’s team that best achieves their goals next season.

New Coaching Director Hires for 2012-2013 Season

There might not be a more unique – or significant – trio of leaders in any soccer club in Washington State: new Director of Coaching, Dave Schumacher; Associate Director of Girls Teams, Katie Hultin; and Associate Director of Boys Teams, Hugo Alcaraz-Cuellar.

DAZZLING Division Finish for GU14 Gold Team

FC Alliance’s GU14 Gold team just completed an impressive Regional Club League Spring season run, finishing first in their Division. Despite losing their starting Goalkeeper to a broken foot for 8 weeks (basketball injury of course -- ha ha), the girls played outstanding defense and only gave up 1 goal all spring: 5 wins - 1 tie -1 LOSS; 11 Goals For; 1 Goal Against. Way to go Coach Alex and the GU14 Gold girls !

Northwest Champions League Invitations to FC Alliance’s BU11, BU12 and BU13 Teams

Joining the highest-ranked Northwest Region boys teams in their age brackets, FC Alliance’s BU11, BU12, & BU13 teams, have been invited to participate in the Northwest Champions League during the 2012-2013 season.

Assistant Coaching Director for Boys Teams, Hugo Alcaraz, believes that the NWCL offers FCA’s players a level of competition that will challenge and inspire their soccer development.

“Congratulations to the boys for their invitation to the 2012 NWCL. This is the second year for the 1999 and 2000 boys teams in the NWCL. It’s a great pleasure to see the 2001 team – coached by Santa Maria Rivera – included in the NWCL. Coach Santa’s players have had a terrific BU10 season and their efforts are well recognized. On behalf of the entire club – great job, boys !”

The Northwest Champions League strives to take youth soccer to a higher level of professionalism in organization and operation, while creating a unique level of competition for U12 through U18 premier teams in Oregon and Washington. The NWCL will be a supplement (and not a replacement) to other primary youth leagues in Oregon and Washington such as the Oregon Premier League, Player Development League and the Puget Sound Premier League.

Give a Player the Gift of a Lifetime: Donate to the Scholarship Fund Today!

FC Alliance has changed the lives of many players through the annual Student Scholarship Program. Scholarships funds provided by our members, private donations, in addition to business and industry, have enabled FC Alliance athletes to participate in our program.. These player not only learn valuable lessons on the field, but also learn life-skills that enable them to make a difference in their communities.

FC Alliance Premier Soccer is dedicated to the bringing a quality soccer training experience for those players that aspire to playing the highest level of soccer in the Northshore area. Our program serves over 400 players on 28 teams. Our philosophy is to offer opportunities for players to participate in this level of soccer regardless of their ability to pay. To achieve this goal we have a very generous player scholarship program that has enabled more than 50 players to participate in premier soccer this year.

How Will My Donation Change a Player’s Life?

Many scholarship recipients qualify for the School Lunch Support Program or their families are in a “hardship situation”. For these players, a scholarship award can make a profound difference in their soccer and academic success. Scholarships may take the form of partial payments or delayed payments as determined by the Scholarship Committee. Scholarships are not automatic and must be renewed each playing year. This year we saw a nearly doubling of scholarship requests to pay for the club fees. To help meet our mission to provide this important program, we are asking for your help.

How Can I Support the Program?

Please consider a donation of any amount to FC Alliance to help in funding the scholarship program. By making a donation to FC Alliance, you will help defray the nearly $100,000 cost for the scholarship program and make it possible to expand this program in the future. Our goal this year is to raise $8000 through our fundraising efforts. To date we have raised nearly $5000 in donations - but we still have a way to go!

The Northshore Youth Soccer Association is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation. Your donation may be tax deductible and qualify for matching gifts from your employer.

Field Use Guidelines

The following Field Use rules apply to all FCA teams at practices and games.

These guidelines supersede posted rules at any parks or fields (i.e. pets are prohibited regardless of whether the park or field allows them).

The COACH is responsible for the behavior and conduct of the players, parents, siblings, and spectators.
Adult supervision of field activities is mandatory. Players may not take the field without a coach present.
Only FCA participants are allowed on the field during our scheduled use time.
You may not enter the site prior to your scheduled time. You must leave on or before your scheduled ending time. Any pre- or post-game meetings should take place off field and outside gates.
If you arrive to find the gates locked, Absolutely, Positively, DO NOT JUMP OR CLIMB THE FENCE.
Litter should be collected and removed by each scheduled team at conclusion of field use. PICK UP the GARBAGE, whether it belongs to you or someone else. If maintenance personnel must pick up behind us, our USE WILL BE SUSPENDED.
NO Use of Alcohol, Drugs, or Tobacco. No profane language, boisterous behavior, or other objectionable demeanor.
NYSA and FCA are financially responsible for damage or vandalism during our sponsored activities.
No PETS. No ANIMALS.
Picnicking and Parking in marked areas only.
No Fireworks, No Firearms, No Weapons
Non soccer related equipment is not to be used by NYSA. E.G. football-blocking sleds, long-jump pit, the track surface, the pole-vault pads, hurdles, etc.
Permission for use of loudspeakers or concession/merchandise stands must be obtained in advance.
Spectators must be on the outside of the track and where there is one in the stands. No spectator is allowed to stand on any portion of the track or on the sidelines next to the field. No tents or heaters on TURF or TRACK.
No gum, seeds, food or BEVERAGES on the TURF or TRACK surfaces. Water is permissible.
ALL HIGH SCHOOL GRASS FIELDS - CLEAN YOUR CLEATS! Player cleats, clothing and equipment must be swept free of grass before leaving the surface.
NEVER attempt to clear snow from any school district field under ANY circumstances!

It is the responsibility of the Team Representative to make sure all team families are familiar with the guidelines.

It is the responsibility of the Team Manager to make sure visiting teams are given the guidelines in advance of all FCA home games.
