Jo sticks around for an episode that is otherwise lightly about the Cate Blanchett movie Carol, considering there's a segment praising Blanchett and another inspired by Carol's score, but the meat here is Jessica Jones.

Was this art? Are we feeling good about Shia now? Then, Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda has declared himself a Slytherin on Twitter so Katey asks Da7e if this is accurate, then tasks him with sorting the other hosts. Finally, three movies by female directors came out last week (The 33, Love the Coopers, By the Sea) and Katey only saw one of them. Does that make her a bad feminist? Does it make us bad critics? If we want more women directing big movies, do we have to turn out for every big movie that happens to have a woman as a director?

Since no one on the podcast had seen it, we instead talk about Blumhouse Productions other thirller, Creep, which is on Netflix. Finally, Wet Hot American Summer: first Day of Camp is out and Da7e thinks it might be the most perfect Netflix revival possible. This weekend was San Diego Comic-Con and everything that entails. While David quietly rages somewhere and Katey attends a wedding, Da7e and Patches don't have any sane person from holding them back from fully geeking out over Comic-Con's movie fair this year. Da7e describes the Star Wars panel to a spoiler-averse Patches, then the two cover all the major Hall H presentations of note, including Pan, The Hateful Eight, Warcraft and several side conversations about important things like the fate of Garrett Hedlund (or this one moment where Da7e mistakenly refers to Zorro as "English" in passing and no one correct him). Katey always wanted to be Marty McFly from Back to the Future, Da7e wishes he were Penny Marshall’s Big, David sees himself in James L. Brooks’ Broadcast News and Patches, perhaps predictably, chooses earnest love-of-teaching-music movie Mr. Holland’s Opus.
