Free Linux Help Line is a multi-faceted project to aggregate existing Linux help systems and at the same time explore new concepts in user help.

This is our attempt to make a friendly place to help and encourage new Linux users without the RTFM attitude that has made many Linux forums infamous.

THE SHOW

The show relies on audience participation to work. If you have a question, you can ask it. If you have an answer for a question that is asked, or a tip to help other users, there will be ways to share it..

While the live show itself can't be guaranteed to be without any adults-only language or material, it WILL be filtered out of the podcast. Rude people will be muted both live and on the podcast.

THE SITE

By aggregating the help systems of the major Linux distributions, we can create one destination where you can send just about any new Linux user and feel confident that they will receive help specific to their needs as well as an explanation of how to be good citizens of the Linux community at large.

While we do encourage self-help such as Googling and the use of man pages, many new Linux users are unaware of these resources or how to use them. Our mission therefore is to empower new users to escape the feelings of hopelessness imposed upon them by their previous computer experiences by showing them how to help themselves--and others--by participating in the Linux community.

Without community, Linux is just an operating system. But with community, it is so much more.
