MrTheBigMan has released E|Drums S03, a free pack containing 286 one-shot drum samples created with Arturia Minimoog.

I used the Arturia Minimoog emulation to create all of he sounds and then recorded them through my preamp before effecting the sounds in Ableton Live.
I have also added all of the hits I used when making E|Loops XL01 to the pack as well because I hadn’t released them and they are very nice indeed, made fully using the Microtonic drum synthesiser.

The collection is split in 2 folders: Synth Pack- 125 kicks, snares & percussion and E|Loops Pack with 161 hits covering kicks through to found sounds.

Distorque has released Face Bender, a free distortion effect VST plugin for Windows. This plugin is perfect for for guitar/ bass distortion or creating that specific hardstyle kick etc.

This is an emulation of a Fuzz Face and a Tone Bender MKII with added controls for tweaking. It runs in mono or stereo, and has selectable 2x oversampling.

The Fuzz Face was first made by Arbiter Electronics in 1966. It had a thick, fuzzy distortion and was made famous by artists like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and David Gilmour. The Tone Bender MKII was also released in 1966, by Sola Sound. Compared to the Fuzz Face, it has a brighter, more distorted sound.

FL Studio Tutorial: How to install samples in FL Studio

In this tutorial I will show you how to install samples in FL Studio, the first step to your creative explosion :).
I receive daily many messages asking 'how to use the samples in FL Studio', 'how to make these work in FL Studio', etc.

I know this site is visited daily by FL Studio absolute beginners, that's why, in our first step-by-step tutorial we will discuss the basics: making that damn sound stay & play in FL Studio!

How to install samples in FL Studio

Step one: Locate your downloaded file (which usually is in RAR or ZIP format). Extract it using Winrar, Winzip, etc like in the image below. Right-click on ZIP/ RAR archive and select Extract to [FILE NAME].

Tools:
Download Winrar

Step two: Select your extracted folder then CTRL+C (copy file) or right-click and select Copy.

Step three: Go to C:\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio 10\Data and double-click on Patches folder.

Step four: In Patches folder create a new folder and rename it let's say... My Samples.

Step five: In the newly created folder My Samples right-click and select Paste. Your downloaded pack is in FL Studio's browser now.

Step six: Let's check it! Open FL Studio and locate your custom folder. That's it!

Tips and Tricks:

A. Then move faster, man! Do it this way: Go to C:\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio 10\Data\Patches , locate your newly and shiny folder you created (in our case My Samples), select it, then right-click and Create Shortcut.
Simply drag this shortcut on your Desktop, rename it Drop Samples etc, everytime you download a new sample pack, extract it using Winrar and then, drag the extracted folder to this shortcut.

B. Are you lazy? Ok! Open FL Studio and follow these quick steps: OPTIONS> General settings> FILE> second row from list click on yellow folder image> a window opens and then locate your downloaded folder. This folder will be loaded automatically in FL Studio.
NOTE: If you change the location of the downloaded folder, you must follow again these steps and re-locate your samples.

C. Follow the steps from 2. but this time locate your download folder (where you usually download your files from internet). Fastest way to preview your sounds.
NOTE: Don't forget to extract the downloaded RAR/ ZIP files in your download folder :).

Sub Continental Dub has released Roland Freeborn O'Neill Millar kit, a free sample pack featuring 21 acoustic drum samples in 24 Bit WAV format.

We then recorded drum loops in tempos ranging from 70-160bmp all to click. At times I would set up the spare snares and cymbals we had in the studio to play along with Luke in a percussive role and we achieved some amazing polyrhythms going like this. When we had shitloads of loops I jumped on the Grand Piano and we got pissed and jammed for hours. We came up with some amazing stuff and some not so amazing stuff that Sofie Loizou and I are currently compiling as part or our new collaborative project soon to be announced.

These one hits they can be used for layering and fattening up existing acoustic drums or they will be great for electronic production. A few of the hits feature on the new Westernsynthetics album I recorded while in Berlin and have just finished mixing.

FLP File: Telephone- Lucky Flaush

This beat (@ 102 BPM) is made only with Sytrus as synth instrument- there are 5 instances with custom presets. I used also 7 samples: 5 one shot drum samples and a loop from Halftone and one vocal sample from pacdv.com.

All effects applied are only FL Studio native VST effects like FL Limiter, FL Reverb and Fast Distortion. Note that the 'Lead' channel (3) from Mixer is sidechained with the muted kick from channel 11.

Two Gross Beat effects are used for the percussion loop, one for pitch variation and one for the groove effect. Both effects are linked with the track via Automation clips.

This project is free to use anyway, there is no attribution required but I will be glad if someone shows me the result(s). The only restriction is that you're not allowed to redistribute it.

Morfiki updated MassTURBOtar, a free morphable VST instrument plugin for Windows OS previously featured on KVR Developer Challenge 2009.

Well... after long time I accidently rediscovered the bastard and decided to make a fast update.

The main feature I added is multi-waveform lfo with host/gate sync for dubstep freaks!
You can select Saw/Sine, Square/Sine, Saw/Inverted saw waveforms with two modes:
G - gate sync and T - host start sync.

I fixed a small bug with wrong osc2 drop down menu sine settings, too.

This original instrument works fine with FL Studio and is available as freeware on Morfiki's blog.
