We honor the land itself and those who remain stewards of this land throughout the generations and acknowledge our committed relationship to Indigenous peoples. We gratefully recognize our history.

An R1 Research Institution, a Hispanic-serving institution, and the flagship university in a majority-minority state, UNM enrolls nearly 24,000 students and offers 215 degree and certificate programs, including 94 baccalaureates, 71 masters, and 37 doctoral degrees through 14 Colleges and Schools. UNM’s campus occupies nearly 800 acres near old Route 66 in the heart of Albuquerque, a metropolitan area of more than 900,000 people. From the magnificent mesas to the west, past the banks of the historic Rio Grande, to the Sandia Mountains to the east, Albuquerque is a blend of culture, cuisine, styles, stories, people, pursuits, and panoramas.

UNM’s University Libraries (UL) is housed within the College of University Libraries & Learning Sciences, along with the academic Organization, Information and Learning Sciences Program and the UNM Press. The UL is a member of the Association of Research Libraries, the Greater Western Library Alliance, the New Mexico Consortium of Academic Libraries, Seminar on the Acquisition of Latin American Library Materials, as well as the Data Curation Network and The Carpentries.
