Song Of The Week - Paloma Faith ft Ghostface Killah , New York

I cannot get this song out of my head. This is a re-release for Paloma Faith, she has made a new version with Ghostface Killah.

I'm undecided on what version I like best but I do know that I love her voice and I can't help but sing along the chorus.

Song of the Week - Eminem - Love The Way You Lie ft. Rihanna

I’m a terrible blogger I start a blog post two posts then disappear! Well I have been super busy but I’m back now with a weekly feature Song of the Week.

I will be sharing my favourite song of the week that I’ve heard. It may be a new one though it could quite easily be a classic tune, this week I bring you - Eminem - Love The Way You Lie ft. Rihanna.

I’m not the hugest Eminem or Rihanna fan but I really love this track, I found it really emotional and powerful and have to sing along to the Rihanna vocal when it comes on. I really think its Eminem at his best; it reminds me of Stan and his use of Dido’s Thank You. It all comes together so well.

Rihanna sounds fantastic on this track, this by far the best thing I’ve heard her sing, its gives me chills every time I hear it.

I would love to know what you think of this track or what you’ve been listening to this week, I will leave you with song in question. (Contains swearing)

With the promise of enjoying top music stars, even the traditional wet British weather fails to dampen our enthusiasm for the summer festival season. Furthermore, there are perhaps more festivals offering a wider range of music than ever before, and the ease of buying tickets online rather than spending hours on the phone or in a queue is a tempting option. However, the rising popularity of “e-tickets” means that we should also be wary of related cases of fraud and other scams.

So, what can be done to help make sure you purchase your tickets to this summer’s big gigs in safety?

The first step is to make sure that the website you are visiting is safe to use, and not a clever attempt to get you to part with your money fraudulently. This can be difficult, and of course it always pays to be cautious. It’s also important to not get fooled by bargains, last minute deals, tickets miraculously showing up for sold out events and other similar tricks.

Following these tips should help you to avoid the common pitfalls:

Be careful when you type the name of a genuine e-ticket site into your browser – some fraudsters create replicas that “typosquat” website addresses that are common mistypings of popular sites.
Search the website name on a search engine and check forums and blogs to see what other people have to say about it – is it legit or not?
If possible, ask the advice of someone who has already purchased tickets from that website.
Once on the website, read the Term & Conditions and Privacy pages, as well as other significant details that could give you a clue about whether the business is genuine or not.
Look for contact details, other than email, such as a postal address (which should not be a P.O. Box) and telephone number (preferably landline). Try to make a call and ask details about tickets, payments, delivery, refund policy etc. Do not forget to ask whether they have a return policy as well, in case you cannot attend and you want to return/resale the ticket.
Check the website of the band or event organiser to find out the exact dates when the tickets will be on sale.

Furthermore, it’s important to make sure you are following these general tips to help stay secure on the web, even when using a genuine e-ticket site:

Use a reliable Internet security product with antimalware protection, a firewall and spam filter, and keep it updated.
Do not purchase tickets from websites advertised in unsolicited e-mail messages.
Activate or turn on your antiphishing filter before filling in your data.
Ensure that the website you are entering your details into uses SSL encryption (Secure Socket Layer) and security authentication methods – look for the “https” prefix to the address and the locked padlock image in the frame of your browser.
Avoid using public and/ or non-secured computers.
Do not purchase tickets from public computers, such as those in a library or Internet Café.
If you use a wireless connection, make sure that your connection is secured and encrypted and that you know and trust the owner of the access point; also, refrain from using an unsecured public wireless connection (like those in airports or hotels) when sending data over the Internet.

Bon Jovi at The O2 Arena - 17th June 2010

This month has seen the 12 day residency at the o2 arena by the rock band Bon Jovi. Bon Jovi opened the 02 arena back in June 2007 and I was lucky to be there for that as it was a fantastic concert. Three years on Bon Jovi still don’t disappoint when it comes to live performances.

Before we go any further with review I feel I should be honest and let you know that I’m a huge fan of Bon Jovi, in fact I’ve seen them 9 times however that doesn’t mean I can’t be critical and honest about their performance , in fact fans are normally the biggest critics.

Bon Jovi always give good value for money, they play for two and half hours and have a huge back catalogue to choose from. However I had found that they had become predictable, you knew what they would open with and you even knew the covers that they would sing but this time it was very different.

They opened with a song from their new album The Circle called 'We weren't born to follow', I can’t remember them ever opening with a new song, its normally ‘lay your hands on me’ which is a really great song but it was nice to see them mix it up. There was a great mixture of old and new tracks and even some songs like ‘Love for sale’ from the New Jersey album that I have never heard live. Of course the old classics such as 'You give love a bad name' and 'Blaze of Glory' were played, you'd be pretty disappointed if they weren't.

There was of course the obligatory song by Richie while Jon nips off to get changed and everyone else goes to the toilet or to get more beers. He sang ‘Homebound Train’ another New Jersey song, ideal for Ritchie as it involves a lot of guitar playing and not much singing.

The stage design was much simpler than in previous years, I’m used to them having working lifts and blow up dolls on stage but I think a simpler approach really worked well. Some amazing screen work, with large screens splitting in to many and also turning into steps, which Jon danced on to the crowds delight.

My favourite part of the gig was the acoustic style section, where they all played together at the front of the stage, including Tico Torres who normally hides behind his drums.

We were quite close to the stage and I have to admit I have never been that close to them and I didn’t realise how cheesy Jon Bon Jovi can be, it doesn’t stop me loving them but I did cringe a few times, a bit of Dad dancing going on.

Bon Jovi may be a bit over the top and cheesy for some but nothing can beat being in that crowd all singing ‘Living on a pray’ at the top of your voice. I don’t think there will ever be a time when I won’t want to watch them.

Why should you go and see them? Quite simply they rock!
