Libraries and Librarians – Got Heart!

Over the past few weeks and following weeks I will have had the distinct honor of face painting one Library a day for the Philadelphia Library System. I have been doing this off and on for a number of years according to how much of a budget is there at the end of the year. What I can tell you is that the Librarians, and teen Library helpers are really some of the best people I come across in my travels.They exude kindness and responsibility. They care. They help children after school and during summer months to make their lives meaningful by helping with with homework, summer reading and keeping their days full with all kids of programs. They do it with sweetness and grace. These are really some of the people that do step up to the plate where children are concerned in the community. I consider it an honor and a pleasure working with them during this time for their kids after school and for the Summer Reading parties. On a more personal note – my Mother recently passed away and I ended up cleaning out some of her belongings. She saved everything. At the bottom of her important papers was her diploma from her Summer reading program at the Lehigh Library. My Mother grew up and into a very educated woman in her life coming from very little means. She received a degree from Penn and a Doctorate from Temple. I feel the kids at Summer Reading have the chance to do the same. I treasure my mother’s Summer Reading Diploma from the Library and really feel it is an honor to be asked to participate in the same Reading Programs that made her summers. Thank you for all of the lovely Librarians and children that I am meeting. You are touching by heart. – Jane

I get so happy this time of the year because it seems that everyone wants to get their faces painted. Fabulous Faces has been learning new designs for all ages and ordering harvest colors in paints glitter and gems. A beautifully painted face enhances or becomes a costume in itself. Also the balloons and glitter tattoos are looking better than ever. I can’t wait to make this Harvest – Halloween season the best ever and can’t wait to do my best work ever for all of you who put your trust in me to paint you. I truly love this season because it allows me to unleash my creativity. So I now challenge you to unleash yours and come up with wonderful design ideas for me to paint in whatever colors you choose. Think outside the box. I get some of my best design ideas from you. Together – lets make this the best one ever. Don’t forget – get your camera ready!
