Nokia N95's Accelerometer Control RC Car

noreply@blogger.com (sahasikacom) — Tue, 26 Apr 2011 16:59:00 -0700

Nokia N95's Accelerometer Control RC Car - What Nokia N95 can do besides giving you the communication function and the 5.0-megapixel shooter? Do you all know that the N95 has a built-in accelerometer sensor? this is what it can do, controlling an RC car. Andreas Jakl and Stephan Selinger have launched a ShakerRacer project which enabled RC car to be controlled via Nokia N95 using the sensor. They modified the RC car to accept Bluetooth instead of the proprietary wireless module which an RC car came with, and they also add in a microcontroller. on the mobile phone, a Python script translates the input of the acceleration sensor to commands the microcontroller in order to manage the steering servo and the main motor. Check out the demonstration after the jump.[via New Launches]

White iPhone 4 sold in Italy, Belgium ahead of schedule

noreply@blogger.com (sahasikacom) — Tue, 26 Apr 2011 14:02:00 -0700

White iPhone 4 sold in Italy, Belgium ahead of schedule - Apple is gearing up to finally release the white iPhone 4, with all signs pointing to a release over the next few days, possibly as soon as tomorrow.

Macerkopf indicates that Apple's own retail stores in the U.S. have received promotional materials for the white iPhone 4, preparing to roll out the new signage in support of the device's release.
Apple is still reassuring us that the white model is on its way-possibly. After Bloomberg reported the white iPhone 4 should be on sale by the end of the month, Apple apparently reassured The Wall Street Journal that it's coming this spring. But after ten months on sale, the iPhone 4 is reaching the end of the product cycle -- so is there any point in having a white one now?

More Wedding Guests Revealed!!

noreply@blogger.com (sahasikacom) — Sun, 24 Apr 2011 06:05:00 -0700

More Wedding Guests Revealed!! - This afternoon a “selected” guest list for next Friday’s wedding was announced. Personally, I am more interested in the gathering of the extended Royal Family and the congregating foreign Royal Families than in the celebrities (and as we well know it is rare for me not to be interested in celebrities). King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan were reputed to be on the guest list, but they are not included here; if they are invited and attending, they may not be on the released guest list for security concerns.

Everyone in this photo will be present on the wedding day (The Duchess of Kent will also be there, but she is not in the above photo). Interestingly, the list of the members of the Royal Family included one name I did not recognize: The Lady Saltoun. The Lady Saltoun, a member of the House of Lords, married the late Alexander Ramsay, grandson of Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught. Who was Prince Arthur, you ask? None other than the third son of the illustrious Queen Victoria! By marriage, this makes Lady Saltoun and Her Majesty the Queen second cousins once removed.

Celebrity YouTube crown : Justin's YouTube channel

noreply@blogger.com (sahasikacom) — Sun, 24 Apr 2011 04:10:00 -0700

Celebrity YouTube crown : Justin's YouTube channel - Justin Bieber is no longer the biggest star on YouTube - he's been pipped by Friday singer Rebecca Black, who has notched up more than 112 million views in the last month. The schoolgirl sensation has become an unlikely internet hit with her auto-tuned teen pop song, beating Justin's YouTube channel by nearly 600,000 views in the last four weeks, according to statistics published by famecount.com.

Justin is expected to bounce back next month however, as the daily count for Rebecca's catchy lyric is on the wane. And the 13-year-old California teen, who has plans to release an EP, has some way to go to match the 1.5 billion views accumulated by Justin to date.

Third in line to the YouTube crown is Lady Gaga, who is lagging behind with 86 million views in the month to April 17.

Royal Wedding Guest List

noreply@blogger.com (sahasikacom) — Sun, 24 Apr 2011 04:03:00 -0700

Royal Wedding Guest List - Elton John, Beckhams on royal wedding guest list.Britain's royal family unveiled Saturday the confirmed guest list and seating plan for Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding, with celebrities, sports stars and foreign monarchs set to attend. Musician Elton John, footballer David Beckham and his fashion designer wife Victoria and actor Rowan "Mr Bean" Atkinson are among the glittering line-up for the service in London's Westminster Abbey next Friday.

In a nod to William's military background and status as second-in-line to the throne, there will also be a British veteran of the war in Afghanistan and the families of soldiers killed in that country and in Iraq.

The seating plan for the ceremony revealed for the first time that William's grandmother Queen Elizabeth II and other senior royals will be the front row, together with Kate's family on the other side of the aisle.

Kate's mother Carole will sit directly opposite the queen.

The Spencer family of William's mother Princess Diana, who died in a car crash in Paris in 1997, will sit behind the Middletons, but as expected there is a snub for Sarah Ferguson, William's aunt and ex-wife of uncle Prince Andrew, following a series of tabloid scandals.

More than 40 foreign royals from countries as diverse as Brunei, Thailand, Morocco and Swaziland are among the "confirmed attendees", said St James's Palace, William's official residence.

There is an unexpected appearance by Crown Prince Salman of Bahrain after reports that the Gulf state's rulers would withdraw to avoid embarrassment after a bloody crackdown on protesters there.

But Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni cannot attend the wedding, Phnom Penh's foreign ministry said, although it denied reports in Britain that he had ignored the invitation.

Since the wedding is not a formal state occasion, world leaders such as US President Barack Obama and French President Nicolas Sarkozy have not been invited.

There are however several heads of government including Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard and her New Zealand counterpart John Key, along with governors-general from 15 Commonwealth realms where the queen is still the monarch.

The wedding is expected to be watched by a worldwide television audience of around two billion.

Celebrities feature heavily on the guest list, and also include Guy Ritchie, the director and ex-husband of Madonna, and Australian Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe, whom St James's Palace said William had met last year.

Elton John -- who sang the hit "Candle in the Wind" at the funeral of William's mother Princess Diana in the abbey after her death in a car crash in Paris -- will be accompanied by his partner David Furnish.

Prince William met former England football captain Beckham as part of England's failed bid to host the 2018 World Cup.

Mario Testino, the official photographer for the engagement, will be there along with singer Joss Stone, who performed at a tribute concert to Princess Diana.A number of William's colleagues from his job as a search and rescue helicopter pilot for the Royal Air Force will also be attending, along with members of charities he supports. There will also be space for Lance Corporal Martyn Compton, a British soldier who served with William, and who was so badly burned in an insurgent attack in Afghanistan in 2006 that he lost his ears and nose.

William has also invited members of the families of two colleagues from the military officer training school at Sandhurst: Joanna Dyer, who was killed by a bomb in Iraq in 2007, and Major Alexis Roberts, killed four years ago in Afghanistan. Most of the guests are family or private friends of William and Kate, and her guests reportedly include the butcher, the postman and the greengrocer from the rural English village of Bucklebury where she grew up.Inside Westminster Abbey itself, only the bride and groom's nearest and dearest will be able to witness the ceremony close up.

Most guests will be behind the choir screen, a partition in the abbey which restricts the view of the altar to those behind it. They will have to watch on video screens to see the moment when William and Kate exchange their vows.
