I just love photographing babies around Kansas City! Watching them grow and change is awfully fun, and being trusted with capturing that is such a privilege. Bright and early, one chilly morning I had the pleasure of photographing this 6 month old boy, at one of my favorite Kansas City gardens. I’ve already done his newborn portraits and 3 month old portraits, and was excited to see how he had changed since I last saw him! He was a bit rounder (love round babies!), was sitting up on his own, and just full of funny facial expressions! His grandparents also came along for the session, and jumped in for a quick picture with their only grandchild. Here are some of my favorites from the morning!

My love of photographing babies around Kansas City grows with each new session, and I really love it when I get to capture the same baby several times in his or her first year! I met this sweet, sweet girl last August when she was already a few months old. I’ve loved each and every time I got to photograph her (4 times between August and her first birthday last month)! She just always has the sweetest smiles, and her serious looks are equally adorable.

At each of her sessions we made sure to capture an image of her sitting in the same corner of the couch in their house, knowing how awesome the progression would look at the end of the first year program. Check out how she’s grown!

Amazing, right?! Below are some of my favorites from her final session, which included some family pictures in the cute downtown area near their house, and some fun making a mess with a cupcake! Enjoy!

This family session was months in the making! When their session day finally rolled around and it was raining in the Kansas City area, we worried. About 30 minutes before the session was supposed to start, the rain let up at our location and we went  for it! The rain held off for us, and we all did a lot of laughing during the session. I didn’t think this poor family was ever going to get their spring session in! Finally, on the third (and rather last-minute) date attempt we had warm temps and sunny skies. Whew! While cloudy skies are fantastic (no squinty eyes!), I do love when the sun is low on the horizon and casting a warm glow on everything. Ah, newborns! I just love photographing newborns! They may be time consuming sessions, and most other sessions don’t involve me getting some sort of bodily fluid on me or my stuff, but when we get that baby to sleep, magic happens, and it’s all worth it! I’m already looking forward to his 4 month session; I just love watching these babies grow, change, and learn new skills in their first year.

He has the coolest Dr. Seuss themed nursery! He wasn’t a fan of our original photo plan, so we went with Plan B, which turned out sweetly too.

Considering it’s about to be 70 degrees and sunny, here in Kansas City, I thought maybe I should put up these very wintry pictures. You know, before winter is a distant memory for all of us! It’s hard to believe that just a couple of weeks ago, we were buried in snow! I’m so glad I was able to do at least one Winter Wonderland session, and am hoping we get one good snow storm next year too so that I can offer them again. Nothing like playing in the snow to get kids to open up immediately!

I have a problem every time I photography this little girl… I over-shoot. And I over-shoot because she’s just so dang cute and expressive! I can’t help myself! I simply cannot wait to see what she does later this spring at her 1 year session, but for now we can all enjoy what she did at her 9 month session.

This year’s spring mini sessions are going to be special, because they will benefit a very special family. I have photographed this sweet boy a few times since starting my business, and have known his parents for several years now.

A little over a year ago, just before turning 3, Gabriel started having lots of seizures and eventually was diagnosed with the rare Doose Syndrome. Since then, they’ve been on a roller coaster of doctor’s visits, hospital stays, ambulance rides, super-strict diets, lots of medications, days with lots of seizures and days where Gabriel is free of seizures. You can just imagine what that all adds up to, even with insurance kicking in!

The Details:

20 Minute Sessions, for families or children – maximum of 6 people per session

Rain date is Saturday, the 11^th

Online Proofing Gallery with 10-15 images in it

5 Digital Images, with Printing rights (digital download from your gallery)

Print orders are not expected/required, but if you would like to purchase high-quality prints or products, you may do so online and 30% of the purchase price will also go to the Russells

$200 fee is pre-paid to reserve your spot. Every penny of that fee will go to the Russells

Location TBD, but it will be on the south side of the metro
