4. Your favorite Lip gloss- My favorite for this season are red glosses. I’ve been wearing Vincent Longo’s Venezia Red.
5. Black Eye Liner- I like the Eve Pearl Black Smudge proof Liquid Liner in Black Pearl. This liner is also great for turning a day eye into a fabulous evening eye!

6. A small vial of your favorite perfume. My favorite is Tom Ford Black Orchid. Great to keep in my bag for those freshen up moments.

Let's face it- most people want to look tan. In fact, many people go to extremes by sun bathing and regularly visit tanning beds to obtain the look. But, tanning beds are like smoking: they cause wrinkles and possibly cancer. The truth is that sun damage is the number one cause of aging. The sun causes hyperpgmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, a leather (rough) appearance to the skin, and worst of all, possible cancer.

So, today's expert's are creating sunless ways to obtain that tan glow minus the dangers that come with it. Forget the orange, streaky self- tanners of the past. Self tanners have come a long way and there are so many options out there.

You can opt for a gradual self-tanner that is a body lotion used daily to give a hint of color that is build able. There are also self-tanners all over the market- from gels, creams, to sprays. Anti-Aging Secret: A White Smile

What is more attractive than a healthy white smile? Nothing! It's beautiful. Teeth whitening has become all the rage over the last few years and for good reason. The whiter your teeth are, the younger you look. A beautiful smile portrays confidence and self-assurance. Nobody wants to be embarrassed to smile because their teeth are not as white as they used to be.

The ideal situation would be to have your teeth professionally whitened by your dentist. A quick tip if you are going to have teeth whitened professionally is to use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth, such as sensodyne, a week or two before the procedure. This will help with any minor discomfort after the whitening. For those who can't afford professional teeth whitening or want to maintain their results, here are the tips to follow:

1. If you can't brush your teeth after drinking coffee or tea, rinse your mouth out with water as soon as possible.

2. Purchase a whitening toothpaste such as Crest 3D White.

3. Gargle with a whitening mouthwash twice a day.

4. Purchase at-home whitening strips. Follow the directions and you will see an improvement. There are many at home whitening strips and at home whitening kits on the market.

The winter 2012 issue of New Beauty is their 'Beauty Awards Issue'. Just like Allure Magazine's annual 'Best of Beauty Awards' issue, I love reading what current beauty editors are choosing as their favorite products! In this issue of New Beauty, I found three products I agree with, BUT, I have also have recently found new favorites that could also win awards in there category that i would like to share with you.

Maybelline's Great Lash won best volumizing mascara, and I have always loved this mascara. But, just recently I found a new mascara that really stands out: L'Oreal's Extra-Volume Collagene Million Lashes. I really like it.

New Beauty also voted the best overall lip gloss as MAC Tinted Lipglass. I say that if you love glosses you might also like Chanel's Glossimer lip glosses. You might be a convert!

They also voted the best mineral foundation as YoungBlood's Pressed Mineral Foundation. I just love multifunctional beauty products! Who doesn't? They make life simpler. 1. Bobby Brown Shimmer Brick, $39. Many of you may already be familiar with this famous product. I love it because it can be used as an eyeshadow, bronzer, and highlighter. Using an eyeshadow brush, bronzing/powder brush, or a highlighting brush makes it easy to use this product all over the face.

2. Guerlain Terracotta Loose Powder Kohl Liner, $36. Once made famous by Angelina Jolie, this powder works as both an eyeliner and shadow depending on how it is applied. The use of Kohl on the eyes has been done since the days of Cleopatra and women today still want the look.

No need to panic. Make sure you blended the foundation well enough into the skin. Using a damp sponge can sheer out and blend the color into the skin. If you still aren't happy with the color here are two more tips: If the color is too dark, a dusting of powder can lighten things up. If the color is too light, a dusting of bronzer will help.

But, as a beauty expert, I can tell you that if you begin taking better care of your body and skin you will feel better, look better, and age less.

Here’s how to make New Year’s resolutions work for you this year:

1.) Buy a new pair of sneakers, invest in that gym membership, and buy a flattering workout outfit. Having to take money out of your wallet and put into exercise is often a great motivator.

2.) Walk through a health food store. See what healthy foods look like. Reduce your sugar and carbs. Find a plan that works for you. Find a diet and exercise plan that fits your lifestyle and needs.

3.) Book a facial at your favorite beauty salon/spa. Everyone’s skin needs a pick-me-up during the winter months. Plus, talking to the esthetician about your skin care concerns will help her put together an at-home skin care regimen for you to follow. Follow it every evening and morning as prescribed. Once, you figure out which formulations and ingredients are most effective you will know what to look for in the future and stop wasting money on the products you don’t need!

Here are a few tips:

1.) Exfoliate your lips gently with your toothbrush.

2.) Prep lips with a moisturizing lip balm.

3.) Make sure your teeth are brushed, flossed, and gargle with mouth wash.

4.) Tonight is not the night to go for a dramatic lipstick shade. You will end up getting it all over people. Keep your lips light and play up your eyes.

5.) A little lip liner can ensure lip colors staying power. Keep your lipstick in your purse for quick touch ups throughout the night.

6.) Also, don’t forget to keep mints in your purse as well to keep breathe fresh!

Would You Tell Her If She Had Lipstick On Her Teeth?

I have a handful of holiday parties to attend in the coming days and I’ve just been thinking about how many women (dear friends and family, mind you) I will see with lipstick on their teeth. It’s a random thought, I know. But last year around this same time I was face to face with five ladies whose lip lacquer had migrated onto their front chompers. And guess what I did? NOTHING. I was frozen with embarrassment, and unsure how to tell them that they looked crazy. This year will be different. I went to Gail Sagel, a makeup artist and owner of Faces Beautiful, to find out how I can be better prepared for the sticky situation.

“The most tactful way to tell someone she has lipstick on her teeth is to motion your own finger across your teeth at the same time as making eye contact with her,” she says. “When she sees you sliding your finger across your top teeth, she will imitate you and make the connection.”

Oh, so I don’t even have too say anything? SWEET.

Worried you’ll be the one walking around the party with lipstick on your teeth? Sagel suggests wearing a lipstain under a longwear lipstick, and blot the color with a tissue after you apply it. That way the excess goes on the tissue and not on your teeth.

Personally, I’m not a big lipstick wearer. But when I do, I swipe it on and then always take a swig of ice water from a styrofoam cup. It’s something about the styrofoam blotting away the excess and the ice water locking down what’s left. And, not to brag, but I’ve never once had lipstick on my teeth…I don’t think.

Extreme Hair Color

Most of us associate funky shades of hair dye with the punk rock set- no more. The trend started in the 80’s and 90’s when the rebellious would streak their hair with shades of blue, purple, and so on. I came across page 53 of the December issue of Allure Magazine and fell in love with the bold brows they featured from the 2012 runways. Brows were the focal point at the spring shows. The brows were thick, dark, and had a defined arch. Get the look by filling your own brows in in with a pencil or shadow and wet brush, no matter what your hair color. Kate Moss is an example of someone who has mastered this. So, what makeup and hair goes with an edgy look? Keep your locks loose and free. Makeup should be simple. A fresh, light lipstick and brown smokey eye gives off that care-free attitude. Add black eyeliner to take it up a notch and add a bit more mystery. It's all about attitude, girls!

Who doesn’t love a bargain? Even celebrities forgo the expensive stuff when they find a less expensive product to do the job! US Weekly (Nov. 7^th issue, Pg. 70) shows us some cheap tricks the stars love. As I looked over the page I found a few of my favorite things, too. I love Maybelline’s The Falsies Mascara. For only $8 you get a great volumizing mascara. I also love Sonia Kashuk’s Nail Colour in Taunting Teal. It’s a beautiful blue, which even Christy Turlington loves! And, it’s only $5 at target.com! One of my other favorite steals is the Bliss Lemon and Sage Beauty Bar. At only $15 it has exfoliating properties and makes your bathroom smell amazing. Sarah Jessica Parker loves Crème de Corps from Kiehl’s, and I can’t disagree with her. It’s an amazing all-over body moisturizer that hydrates and soothes the skin. It comes in all different sizes, making it great for travel, too. The small size is only $10 and I leave it in my travel bag. Nothing is more exciting than great beauty products that are effective and don’t put a hole in your wallet!

Master of the Smokey Eye!

One of the questions I get asked often is how do you do a smokey eye. While there are many variations of the smokey eye, I was saw a L’Oreal Ad (People Magazine, Nov. 14^th, Pg. 21) of model, Freida , wearing their new ‘The One Sweep’ eyeshadow palette in Smokey for all eyes. The look was absolutlely stunning. We create the same look at Faces Beautiful with our Mineral Eye Shadow Quad in Muse. You can get the professional look at home by following these simple steps for a gorgeous smokey eye.

1.) Line the lids with a long-lasting liquid or gel liner.

2.) Next perfect the line by tracing it with an angled-liner brush dipped in black shadow to ensure its staying power.

3.) Use a crease brush and apply the black in the outer corner of the eye and into the crease.

4.) Next dip a blending brush into the gray and blend over the entire lid and crease. This will create the smoked look and soften the black.

5.) Add the sheer white to the brow bone.

6.) Use a black pencil to line underneath the eye. You can even mix the black and gray and sweep over the liner for a bold effect.

7.) Go over to top liner, too.

8.) Finish with lots of mascara and wipe away spare shadow that may have fallen onto the face. Make sure your brows are filled in and that you complete the rest of your makeup by keeping it simple, with a natural foundation, pink/peach blush, and a nude lip.

I was flipping through the November 7^th Issue of US Weekly and was inspired by the stars in red. Beauty at EVERY age!

In the Fall-Winter issue of New Beauty Magazine, Courtney Cox says, “Beauty over 40 is a slippery slope, but the life experience and knowledge we gain can make us sexier with age.” But, dig a little deeper and Courtney (age 47) is like most women on the quest for ageless beauty. Courtney, personally, has admitted to certain cosmetic procedures in the past, indulges in regular facials, 6 month visits to her dermatologist, investment in effective cosmetics and skin care products, not to mention a healthy diet and workouts with one of Hollywood’s top personal trainers. Courtney, like all woman (celebrity or not) is making her health and personal care a priority to beat the clock. Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Robert Singer, MD. Of La Jolla, California states in the same issue, “While we find beauty in all ages, it is the biological effects of aging that left unchecked damage our appearance if we don’t intervene.” His example is 66-year-old actress, Helen Mirren, who was recently voted “Body of the Year.” Basically, you don’t have to be 25 anymore to have a beautiful face or body. With the advancements in technology and increasing number of experts in the esthetics field, you can maintain your looks at any age. But, you have to make it a priority. Mitchells of Westport Pink Aid Fashion Event

Faces Beautiful was honored to provide the hair and makeup services for the models at Mitchells of Westport’s Pink Aid Fashion Event. Mitchells and founding partner, CT. Cottages and Gardens Magazine, hosted the first annual Pink Chair Luncheon and Fashion Show to raise money for Pink Aid. Along with a silent auction, guests enjoyed a fashion show with clothing provided by Escada, food catered by Marcia Selden Catering, and dozens of beautiful pink chairs for purchase created especially for the event. The event was a major success and raised $300,000 for Pink Aid, which helps provide services for women battling breast cancer. It was great fun and we were beyond happy to take part in an event of such a great cause.

I was flipping through Elle Magazine's November 2011 issue and came across pages 193-208 about all things Boudoir. I was mesmerized by all the sexy lingerie and shoes. Lace, silk, leather, chiffon, mesh, sky high heels... It doesn't get any sexier than that! But, one thing was missing- sexy bedroom makeup to go with the sexy bedroom wear! It got me thinking, what is appropriate makeup for a special night in bed? Hey, us girls have fun dressing up pretty and sexy! One of our esthetician's and makeup artist's, Erica, summed it up perfectly. "I do a smokey eye, with black winged liner, a sexy pink blush with shimmer, and pink lips. Basically, a gorgeous, glamourous 1940s movie star." As I researched "Bedroom makeup" I kept coming across the same things from other women. It's all about the sexy bedroom eye! The eyes have it - they express so much emotion. So, on your next romantic evening make sure you play up your beautiful eyes! Smokey shadows, black eye liner, and lots of mascara create the Boudoir Fantasy. Look to the original bombshells for inspiration, too, like Sophia Loren, Brigitte Bardot, and Elizabeth Taylor! Busy moms can use all of the help they can get, especially in the world of beautifying themselves. Since moms spend much of their time caring for others, they tend to put themselves on the back burner. This selflessness is even truer during the holiday season, when moms cater to various house guests, friends, family members and children, while hurrying to fit in every cocktail party and holiday event in between the carpooling, soccer games and dance classes.

Fortunately, busy moms, you can look fabulous while you are entertaining. With the help of my beauty tips, looks don’t have to be compromised!

For starters, while you are out holiday shopping, stop at your favorite makeup counter and buy a new berry-colored blush and lip gloss. This is called pre-makeup. It’s sort of like the pre-game for football— time to get ready. Also buy something shimmery, such as a highlighter, glistening bronzer or a sparkly eye shadow. A makeup accent that goes on gold, silver or glittery does the trick.

While you’re at it, treat yourself to a fresh tube of mascara. Then stop at the drugstore to get OPI or Essie polish in red or orange— something bright for the holidays. Doing these few things helps women enter the holiday season the right way: with festive, celebratory makeup.

One of the biggest beauty blunders women make this time of year is thinking their daily muted earth tones work for holiday makeup. They don’t. Such drab and boring makeup merely makes you look and feel tired. Instead, to prepare for the holiday mood, add a color brighter than what you normally wear. And use shimmer to allow your look to pop.

Think you won’t have time to apply your new makeup? Busy ladies, here are the essential steps to put your best face forward in record time. Keep reading for a makeup application you can achieve in less than three minutes (or, if you have some extra time and want to get glam, makeup in six minutes).

To wrap it up, here are a few quick pointers to stay spruced up no matter what unfolds during the holidays. When entertaining at home, put lip gloss and blush in a small makeup bag and hide it somewhere in your kitchen. Then, the next time you’re sitting in the carpool line waiting to pick up your kids, you’re able to transform your day mommy makeup into your glamorous holiday look in about five minutes. Enjoy looking and feeling your best.

Makeup 1, 2, 3

Get it together in less than three minutes.

Step 1: Apply a pretty colored lip gloss.
Step 2: Apply mascara to both top and bottom lashes.
Step 3: Apply blush. Choose a gel, cream or powder
formula and be sure you have a good blush brush.

Makeup 4, 5, 6

Get it together in less than six minutes.

Step 1: Apply foundation and blend well.
Step 2: Apply concealer, if you need it.
Step 3: Apply blush, bronzer and/or a highlighter. Add color to your cheekbones.
Step 4: Apply eyeliner. Use an eyeliner with an attached smudge brush for making a smoky line. Apply liner on top and a little bit underneath the eye, too.
Step 5: Apply lots of mascara to both top and bottom lashes.
Step 6: Apply a pretty colored lip gloss.
