Opt Out Public Option Silliness

I’m totally not taking this idea seriously. This is basically the last gasp from the conservatives that want to limbo around having to deal with the loss of profits inevitable with the public option; and it’s ridiculous. Both parties would stand to lose massively because of this proposal because once in place, people who need the health insurance would immediately start moving to the states that had the public option and abandon the states that did not. States would have to start passing laws restricting people’s movement in order to save their economies or prevent overwhelming their health care systems.

I could guarantee that just about everyone would be pissed off at everyone in government … and in several years time we’d all have universal single payer health care because we’d have to declare a state of emergency and cover everyone as cheaply as possible and the politicians would be desperate.

Ooooh yeah, it’s a real loser for any politician that wants to go down that road and ut we’d also be looking at a lot of new legislators before they got around to fixing the issue.

G’head, Congress. Make our day.

Olympic Shadenfreude

I never really had a convincing contemporary example of schadenfreude to go off of, until today, when many conservative fringe-types jumped for glee and wore glad expressions over the news today that America had lost it’s bid for the Olympics.

OK OK. I will admit that there were many many times in which I would have been very glad to have seen Bush get beaned by a shoe or enjoy the spectacle of seeing Cheny’s smirk cause a singularity in his face and implode inward, but never even in my wildest dreams would I have shown glee over an injury or hope for the ruination of the country in anyway. This is a trend toward a divide that’s starting to get reckless.

It’s time that we all take a collective step back and step away from the kool-aid.

The Ironic Holiday

This is the one day a year where we celebrate our love of the blue collar, while laying people withblue collars off. This is the day where congress pats workers on the heads enjoying a socialist health care system while claiming America is better than socialism.

School Starts, Oh Noes

The first week of school really took me by surprise and tackled me. I lost track of time so it wasn’t til last week that I finished gettign everything taken care of. I had to wait this week for my financial aid to be deposited into my uni until I could relax. School also started one week earlier than I had planned, but luckily it seems that UTA (my school) doesn’t really do much on the first week and reserves it for late registrees.

It’s looking like it will be real fun,though. I attended my first class in stagecraft today and I’m looking forward to acting 1 tomorrow more than anything else. Today I attended yoga, but it doesnt look like we’regoing to actually DO anything til a week from next Monday. I went to the health building (The MAC, why they named it after my old west highland terrier, I’ll never know) and worked out and ran 2 miles (badly and slowly).

Japanese and Tarot

This week I’m going to start learning both Japanese and the Tarot everyday. Just pick a word a day to learn and during the week review ’til I totally know all seven words for the day. I’ll put them down onto note cards and then separate those cards into weekly stacks, and then monthly, and then yearly. For Tarot I’ll pull one card a day to get an idea of what my day will be like. I’ll also meditate on that card periodically during the day.

We’ll see how it goes.

Tarot History

The history of the Tarot is pretty interesting. Here i thought the history started in the early 20th century and yet it goes back to almost the Magna Carta. I better get back to it.
